Folks. lmao i beg you, IF you do join the patreon, please don't fight with other members that don't have the same viewpoint as you about the game. Someone just had had a MELTDOWN over Someone else calling it 🧀 It was a true spectacle to witness
@@DrumRollTonyReacts thats funny lmao
@@DrumRollTonyReactsWait, they what. Lmao I need to check this out now just to see
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Lol people need to step back and understand that everyone has their own feel for music. It's all too subjective lmao
Regarding the male rap part which you said feels a bit outdated... its because in a way, its supposed to be! This is a new composition, but the original game released in 2006 and the game takes place in the mid 2000s as well. The new tracks for this remake were of course written with the intent of blending in with the old tracks, so thats why you have this late 90s/2000s vibe here. Also fun fact,, the rapper Lotus Juice is the same guy they had back in the 2006 original!
I'm just curious what classifies as new rap?
@@NinjapowerMS I'm not gonna claim to be anything more than casual enjoyer of music, but with differences, this is deff an older type beat and flow/delivery. Modern stuff is a lot more trap beats usually. Rap has changed in the same way rock isn't what it used to be. styles and whatnot always evolve.
The game takes place in 2009
@@BigJMC which is in the 2000's
@@BigJMC ironically the date the game takes place isn't exactly relevant here since Minato/Makoto isn't necessarily listening to recently released music but it could very easily be from years earlier for all we know 🤷
Color Your Night and Changing Seasons are absolute BANGERS
Burn My Dread and Memories of You also, and i really like Master of Shadow and Master of Tartarus personally
Deep Breath Deep Breath too!
So many good songs here i want to hear about. "It's going Down Now" is also something i want to hear about so badly considering how often we hear it ingame
Oh yeah
...kinda miss the French in changing seasons though
@@hiarus8850 yeah! what happened to funny french lady!!
You're absolutely right about the sound being reminiscent of 90s and 2000s music, the game is set in 2009 and was originally made in 2006. So it was trying to capture that same sound, even though this song is actually from a game released in 2024. From your reaction as someone who hasn't played the games, I'd say it did its job. Glad you enjoyed it.
"It's a full moon again, crazy how time flies," is likely a nod to this being a remake of the original 2006 game. It's been roughly 20 years; time really has flown. It also ends with "Burn your dread," which is a callback to the original opening. It's also on the MP3 player in the beginning. This game has very strong themes about death and our mortality as humans, but as you progress, it takes on more of a positive take rather than being nihilistic. It's grim and very 2000s, and they opted to keep some of that style with the new tracks. This was 100% made to update the game for new and to keep old fans happy, lots of love went into it.
Got a super blast of nostalgia when I heard that opening line lol
you can tell the instrument for “dreamless dorm, ticking clock, i walk away from from the soundless room” before the lyrics started 🤩🤩🤩
It’s always funny seeing people listen to Lotus Juice rapping. He’s always such a hit or miss with people
In Akihiko's words.... "I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS"
WHAT’D YOU SAY?!?
YA SEE THAT SHINJI?! Ya see that...?
You're right Lotus Juice is a cheeseball but that fits persona 3 perfectly. The campiness and the fact that he made the music for the original just adds to the feeling of nostalgia.
Neeeeed a Color Your Night reaction, that song has quickly become one of my favorites from the game!!!
Color Your Night isn't just the best from the game, it might be the best track in the entire Persona series.
@@MrShagification REAL
Fun fact: the songs he’s skips in the beginning of the intro are the songs that played for the intro of the other versions of Persona 3! Then he stops on the 3rd which is the song for the new intro😅
the second song “Want To Be Close” isn’t an opening, it’s one of the background tracks in the game.
typically plays at school i think
I know the cheesy hip hop can be a hard sell, but it really grows on you the more you listen to it. Its set in the 2000's so the corny vibe is kind of an intentional choice. I can understand being kinda turned off from it, but personally i love it.
It reminds me of nu metal, or maybe linkin park vibes
This song has some cool motifs in it, a lot of the parts are calling back to a song called burn my dread from the original game
I figured there were details like that. That's cool
This song is great and pretty fun to listen to, can't wait for you to react on the new (and remaked) songs in the game. "Color Your Night" and "It's Going Down Now" are also one of the favorites and the best ones in the P3R soundtrack.
"memories of you" hits hard too
I gotta add Changing Seasons and Master of Shadow too
I finished playing P3R yesterday. Thank you, JRPG and you.
And immediately put an avatar
Might want to consider switching ur pfp because of spoilers
@@srfn1253anyone who doesn’t know wouldn’t be spoiled by that picture
me too, I cried so much
P3R has some more amazing songs, two I recommend you to react to are "its going down now" and "color your night"
I agree, these are the other two I would recommend!
Lotus juice(the male singer) is someone you kinda grow on as time passes. The game is set in 2009.
What do you think about this song?
It's very beautiful and really reflects the vibe that the game wants to convey, this frantic part
Recently, I've been replaying the song, and the Persona series is truly captivating. I hope to see your analysis of "Persona 5 Scramble: Daredevil "one day.
This is one of the best persona OPs and i really hope you reacted to the full version
Banger opening movie but def check out the full song if you get a chance even if only on your own time!
Its a great song that captures the message of the story, the full version is even better.
Ran into this channel by accident. Love seeing professionals react and ACTUALLY react so openly and genuinely to all sorts of music. Very much enjoying your content, and am very glad you have the Persona series in your videos. Wonderful OST's across their time periods honestly.
Welcome in
Professional? Dude was literally making fun of the male singer.
@notbatman4719 Articulations about the 🧀 factor of the vocals does not impact my resume.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Yeah just makes a sh1tty person. Congratulations!
@notbatman4719 Why are you so insecure about someone voicing a music opinion? Especially when the cheesy factor was INTENTIONAL?
You should absolutely do more videos for this soundtrack, it’s amazing. Color your night, mass destruction, changing seasons, it’s going down now are all ones that are great.
It's funny that you mention the music sounds old. It's part of the game aesthetic since it takes place in 2009.
This song brought a lot of emotions for me the first time I heard it. It has so many call backs and influences to the original game that came out like 17 years ago. So even with just the lyric "Crazy how time flies" resonated so much to me. I absolutely adored this game and played it on day 1 when it came out and the music for this song was such a pleasant surprise. Lotus Juice is the rapper from the original game's soundtrack and so its awesome to hear him return for the remake version of this game.
i literally cry when i'm listening to the chorus
This is actually a truncated version. There's a second verse and a sort of bridge, plus a proper rap verse from Lotus Juice.
Also, the lyric that I'm pretty sure you misheard there is "carpe diem," Latin for "seize the day." A major theme of the game is coming to terms with our mortality, and making the best of the time we have while we're alive. Hence the incredibly morbid imagery in the video as well.
He did the full version on his Patreon. He like the song but didn't like how they mix Lotus juice's part and also didn't like how cheesy it is.
Oh yea! Glad you did a reaction to the opening and happy you went to the full ver. too!!! Knowing the context and history of the game really change how you view this opening a lot!
So happy to see you covering the op of my fav game ever. Color Your Night and It's Going Down are also bangers. Thanks!
The original game was made in 2006, and set in 2009. The hip hop vocals are a big part of the original soundtrack, so it's very nostalgic for fans of the game. The female vocalist is completely new to Persona though, and I like her voice a lot.
This is such a great opening, I love how much it pays homage to Burn My Dread the original P3 opening, through using rhythmical motifs from that song. Since this is the opening it’s only half the song, there’s a full version that’s definitely worth checking out.
The rapping is lotus juice, he's a large part of Persona 3's image, youll hear him alot if you continue through the OST
so excited to see you cover this! great analysis, hearing you talk about some of the technical details only makes me appreciate the track more. if you decide to cover more songs from P3R, Mass Destruction is one of the main combat themes and is really fun. Burn my Dread is the final boss music in this game, and was the opening music from the original persona 3 back in 2006.
I've been waiting for this
I liked the in depth analysis, I’ve been listening to this song a lot, so it’s nice to finally be able to pick it apart and see someone talk about the things that make me like it 👌
Song title: Full Moon Full Life -Opening Movie version-
Lyrics: Lotus Juice

it's fool moon again
crazy how time flies
one might wonder
if past path was in the right direction
but I do believe
things come to life by accident
when it remains on
sounds like it's meant to be
(Wake Up) New space made when
things fall apart
(Get Up) what matters after ending's
how you left a mark
(Don't wait up) Fire in my sould fire in
my heart 'ti I you see me on the other
side of stars,
I'm running
All the journeys start some where
with a first step
No one's sure what lies ahead,
be bold and brave (stand up)
roads may be rough and tough
though it will lead some where
(nothing easy get up and go get it go)
sometimes it's journey itself that
teaches a lot about the destination
not aware of
no matter how far
(no matter how far)
how you go
(how you go)
how long it may last
venture life burn your dread
(Carpe diem no time to waste,
you gotta venture life go get it
burn your dread)
What matters in the end is how you left a mark*
It's your life, burn your dread*
If you're looking for persona 3 OST i highly recommend you "Its going Down" absolute banger.
About half way through the game now since it came out at the start of the month and it's absolutely worth it for anyone looking to get into the series and for a longtime fan who's played the other games like myself. I have never been this proud to say I love Persona.
The game is set in 2009. And was originally released in 2006. The songs he cycles through before landing on the opener are the opening songs from previous versions of the game. This song is very much in the same feel as the rest of the music in the game.
The game's story is _very_ dark, and I think it needs this upbeat, pop feel in much of the music to balance it out.
"I don't know what Dude is saying. Sounds like he probly dropped some F-bom s a couple times."
You're hearing the "up" in "Wake up," "Stand up," "Get up," etc.
Ithink the problem is that these aren't native English speakers singing English lyrics, combined with Lotus Juice's voice being mixed kinda low.
Lotus Juice is fluent though. Dude lived in New Jersey as a kid
Hooo boyyy, i've been waiting for this!
I've been waiting for this!!!
Yeah, I had a feeling you wouldn't like Lotus Juice. He gets a lot of flak in the music community since people don't take him seriously and think he's corny/lame. It's fine though. I can see why the opinion exists. I think he's cool though.
Also, I'd probably recommend avoiding Persona 3 music if he wasn't your style. Like Lyn in Persona 5 who shows up in most of the songs, Lotus Juice shows up in a lot of the Persona 3 songs. Fun fact about Persona 5 and Persona 3, Lotus Juice actually helped write some of the Persona 5 songs and taught Lyn the proper intonation and feel of them since she doesn't really speak English.
not to mention that they actually sang a song together for the Persona 5 Tactica DLC
I finally decided to try out some of his other music not from Persona and he does definitely keep to that 1990s-early 2000s type rap/style and I already personally love that genre of music so it’s perfect for me. “Day By Day” and “Chill” are some of my favorites from him
it’s following the leitmotif of “Burn My Dread” from the original Persona 3

MAN, YOU NEED TO LISTEN THE FULL VERSION, IS INSANELY GOOD
I thought this would be the full version but i suppose it'll be for another time!
@@MetalGamely someone said that the full version is on his patreon
Full version is on the patron. He likes it but doesn't like the lotus juice parts
The game is set in 2009, and the Mp3 player was actually an old Sony one since these games were originally playstation exclusives. There's a lot of neat references in this intro, but the best has to be the intro melody being the same as that of the original persona 3 opening theme on ps2 "Burn My Dread." Makoto actually flips past it when the intro is building up to the start of the theme. As always love the analysis work, would love to see your thoughts on "it's going down now" in p3reload.
this my favorite persona opening
I absolutely do not mind anything you said though I love how you expressed your opinion unapologetically
"Color your night" from the Persona 3 Reload ost. Banger that you have to listen to.
NEED to do It's Going Down Now, beautiful vocals and great energy throughout.
i'm loving this song and i'm loving this game so far... definitely in my top 3 for sure
I'VE WAITED WEEKS FOR THIS
I get chills every time I start the game. Have to listen to it once at least.
I was skeptical and scared for this game to come out but im so happy with it
The persona series has such great songs, persona 3 reload makes no exception. You should definetly consider making more analysis of this game
Let's goooooo. More Persona music 🎶
The music player at the beginning actually plays the opening that would play here in the original game, as well as another song reference, before changing to the new song.
I get chills every time I hear this opening lol
I highly recommand you Color your nights, It's going down now, Changing seasons and Burn my dread
Absolute banger from persona 3 reload
Every piece from the P3R ost is a banger
I Like watching your videos, it makes me put more attention to the details that otherwise i'd let it pass
I'm glad to hear that. Thx for the nice comment

OH MY GOD BRO REALLY DID THSI JUST AS I GOT AKIHIKO IN THE PARTY THIS IS INSANE
A lot of people responded about the male singer so i will just say that the brass part in the pre-chorus is taken from the original opening of the original persona 3. The original opening is also referenced at the beginning when the protagonist changes songs on the Mp3 player since the opening is the song "Burn my dread"
hope youll check out more from the OST, they really did a spectacular job with the remake including brand new songs on top of recreations of the old songs. Highly recommend checking out "Its going down now" as its the other new song added to the remake and "Master of Tartarus" if youre looking for something a bit more instrumental
when the moon's reaching out stars next? you'll love the drums on it
The original game out i believe in 2006 so there is a lot of nostalgia i think in the song in how its composed.
DrummRollTony reacting to something from my hyperfixation I cheered
Tony not being able to stifle laughter at Lotus Juice twelve out of twelve times right to the end is pure comedy gold
Oh yeah this gon be a banger
Great reaction!
Would be criminal if someone didn’t recommend you the new Sleep Token drum playthrough by II playing The Summoning on Drumeo. Highly recommend
About the pre-chorus, I should say that the game is based in 2009, so I do feel that part fitting for the year
the hole soundtrack for this game deserves its own breakdown , highly recommend
Your reaction to Lotus Juice is what I'd describe as typical xD It's great.
It’s going down now is also an amazing song if you do another p3 video
it didnt even seem like he wanted to pause it for the last part because of how good it is
The chorus onward slaps so unbelievably hard. Can't say I blame him.
Bought the game yesterday and I have very very high expectations, this is coming from a Persona 5 listener. Will definitely start playing after exam, but I can't say I'm disappointed with the opening, this one's a meal!
Burn My Dread (Final Battle)
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on "Master of Shadow" from the game too
The male singer, named Lotus Juice, has actually been writing lyrics for this series since the original version of Persona 3 came out back in 2006. He's especially known for the song "Burn My Dread", and he inserts a reference to it in most of the lyrics he writes for in this series.
For the record, he doesn't just write raps, though that's mostly what he's known for. He's also written other songs. For example, he wrote the lyrics to "No More What Ifs" for Persona 5 Royal.
I love that, you love persona music 😊 love watching these!
LFGG!! pls make it a series, there're TONS of gem in Persona 3
Thank you for this one, make sure to check out other p3r songs like color your night and its going down now
Color Your Night, Changing Seasons, Deep Breath Deep Breath, and It’s Going Down Now.
Ik I love this song but I come to this channel to know WHY i love it (other than lyrical references to the game)
Persona 3 is a very 2006 kinda game and this music reflects it quite well. The visuals are also intense af.
There are so many little tidbits in the animation that are really cool to see. As far as "cheese factor" you got that right, Lotus Juice is definitely cheesing it up and I love it. He worked on the original game and redid some of the original lyrics the team had because they were "whack."
Would have been cool if you reviewed the full version of the song. The second half is really cool!
3:18 The moment he stopped was perfect.
Would love for you to analyze Color Your Night, might be my favorite song aside from the one at the credits
We really need Tony to listen to Libera me from Hell
Hey Tony, been watching a while and I finally wanna request Hoshi ga Oyogu by Macaroni Enpitsu, the opening for Summertime Rendering. Some of my favorite guitar work in all of anime music, it's just a real treat to listen to. Song aside, the show is also great but it flew under the radar a couple of years ago, I'd highly recommend it as well 🤟
Color your night, It's going down now, Mass Destruction are the ones I would want to to cover the most cause they are amazing!
You should for sure react to more of the OST. I know you'd dig it.
i think you would really enjoy an artist called mid-air-thief, and their songs “these chains” or “why?”, love the vids!
i know it must be hard to try and take in the music with those visuals but thanks for trying to be as unbiased as you can be given that lol (dont worry, they arent real guns in the game) but i do love how they sync the male vocal part with the animation
Would loce to see to see you react to iwatodai dorm persona 3 reload, thays a really fun one
A lot of the persona games have a lot of bangers that you should definitely check out 😊
Gonna start requesting this one even if it's just a drop in the bucket: off the Pacific Drive radio soundtrack, Ghost on the Road by A Shell in the Pit.
The song is about living after a loved one has died. You should read the lyrics. Its very emotional
You NEED to listen to Whims of Fate and Life will Change from Persona 5 they are so god damn funky and fire
This game have a lot of amazing tracks
i would recommend from the anime movie Sing a Bit of Harmony the song - Lead Your Partner - from Tsuchiya Tao
Bro you absolutely have to listen to the full song, you don’t even have to do a video or anything just listen to the full song, the whole thing is just as good as the OP, I listen to it almost every day, can’t recommend it enough if you liked the OP, same sentiment for Persona music as a whole for the record
oh lets go you've hopped on persona, lets fucking goo
