I also started with Ryza, also got completely hooked (lost count of how many JRPG's I have played over the last multiple decades and it it could have included the Atelier games! (Which BTW is normally prounced uh·teh·lee·ay). I enjoyed Firis but once I got the Ryza crafting I really enjoyed this the most.
I’ve pronounced atelier several different ways throughout my videos. I just go with whatever feels right in the moment, haha. Thanks for your support! It’s nice to talk to someone who is also passionate about the Atelier games. They’re kind of hidden gems within the JRPG world. At least, it took me way too long to find them.
Well, the third one hasn’t released yet, but Ryza 1 and 2 are both good games. I’d say just start with 1 since the story in 2 builds off of it. In the promotions of 3, they leaned pretty heavily into 3 being the end of the story, so I bet it will also have lots of throw backs to Ryza 1.
