I just did the Bardstown Bourbon Rickhouse Barrel Thieving tour. It was SPECTACULAR! Sampling 3 different whiskeys straight from the barrels was an amazing experience. I sampled Disco 9 on the tour, then tried Disco 11 as part of a flight at their bar, But their AMRUT Collaborative was by far, my favorite. I sampled some Blantons alongside the flight and it paled in comparison the the Bardstown selections.
Disco 8 is my second favorite, disco 11 is my favorite. I've liked all of them that don't have any dickel in it... even the ones with the very lower percentage of dickel still comes through for me, but 8 and 11 I snag up when I see them. And like you said, the fact that they took the blend in disco 8 and then put them in toasted barrels to finish it, to just amplify the flavors already there, blows my mind with what they are doing.
I saw bourbonbills video comparing disco 4, 8, and 11. Disco 4 is probably near impossible to find now. I saw a bottle of disco 8 recently in MD and immediately bought it. I also saw a disco 9, but passed on it, but Fred Minnick loved disco 9. I should see if that shop still has that 9 on the shelf. Disco 11 is still easily found so I picked up 2 bottles.
@BourbonOfTheWeek I don't know if 10 received the glowing reviews as the other recent ones, but I've seen it on shelves. FWGS has 9 and 10 available via SLO. Bardstown has been killing it lately. I'm a huge fan of their origin series. I haven't tried any of the Fusions or collaboration stuff--the foursquare collaboration is just too much for me (about $180).
Disco 8 is good, really good, but they have some better ones out there, apparently disco 11 is a winner. But the prices keep going up and up, like everything else. But if I were to compare this to other blendersout there, Barrel is doing some really food things too. Cheers, hope you got all your fingers left and had a great 4th of July.
Discovery 8 and 11 are awesome. Enjoy your bottle in good health.
@@ZeLuluBear hell yeah! Now I gotta try to find 11

Don’t think I’ve had anything from this series but I do love that Gem of KY. Gonna see how I can my hands on a sample of the Bardstown now.
@@BourbonBesties rumor has it. #8 and #11 are the ones to look for. You know I got you on some of this!
No Bardstown in Oregon. I got the Bardstown BiB in CA a few months ago and love it. $48
Easyyyy pickup at the price point. So damn good
