Price a bit subjective. Are we talking retail price or secondary market price? I just bought the 15 and 18 for NZD 150 and 200 respectively, which I think is fair. Would I pay secondary market prices for them?..absolutely not. Nice video
All scotch drinkers already know about Springbank. Sadly, the distillery simply can’t produce enough Springbank to meet the ridiculous demand and bottle flipping rife in the UK for those that do hit the shelves. It’s almost impossible to buy retail in the UK, (the retail prices are actually very reasonable). The secondhand market is very much overpriced, so it’s been well over a decade since I last owned a bottle myself. 😢
Such a bummer! I hope luck strikes you this year my friend! In the US if you keep an eye out, you can find ample springbank. Typically lasts a couple days in stores before it's sold out! I do also think the rise in MSRP was to combat secondary flipping, which I can appreciate! Cheers buddy!
Until people will pay those ridiculous prices, those producers and retailers shops will continue act like pigs with those prices, tasted the 10 the fifteen the 21 and much more, they just don’t stand the hipe.
It’s either the distillery, or the flippers! They’ve got the demand to elevate their prices on the supply. Also, what did you not like about the ones you’ve tried? I know it’s not for everybody, but curious as to your thoughts!
been wanting to get my hands on one very nice video! Just one thing, i believe kilchoman does also have from farming to bottle the entire way, so springbank isnt the only one that does this
I appreciate you watching!! And Kilchoman does farm and malt some of their barley, but a large portion of their malted barley is sourced. So, they’re not quite 100% like Springbank! They do have a farm operation, which Springbank does not. They also do have a specific bottle that is 100% their farmed and in house malted barley, which is one of the few in the world.
@@TheThirstyOak My bad! Thought kilchoman didn't outsource at all but I didn't do my research properly, i love it when companies in general do inhouse as far as they can so big ups to springbank!
All good man!! The online claims of it can be a bit confusing. I had to clarify with a good buddy of mine who’s visited the distillery in person. Apparently their malting floor is quite small… but they’re primary source of malt (port Ellen) is now opening as their own distillery again, so who knows how Kilchoman will react. They likely going to be forced to find a new distributor, and/or increase their malting capabilities. Either way, they make great whisky!
Please explain to me how someone with a bourbon palate would be a good voice to listen to in regards to whether or not a scotch is "worth it"? Springbank 15 is ALWAYS worth it .. even at secondary.
Well Seth, while I do gravitate towards Bourbon, I love and appreciate scotch as well. Don't think that excludes me from sharing my opinion! Cheers, and thanks for watching!
@rstyOak you are free to share any opinion as am my, and in my experience, while one may love and appreciate scotch, if they ever favour bourbon above scotch, than it's usually because one prefers the sweeter, less malty taste, and favours a freshness of virgin oak coupled with a grain forward characteristic ... which means that the scotch experience - by virtue of it not coming before bourbon - one will taste it in a way that those who favours scotch first, cannot rely on.
SPRINGBANK IS THE TOP DISTILLERY IN THE WORLD 🥃💫💫💫💫💫
Love me some Springbank! Cheers!
@@TheThirstyOak CHEERS BUDDY
Springbank does it right- hands on for every step- independent to the extreme- that’s why they are worth it. Thanks for your review. 🥃🏴👍
Absolutely! And a bonus is it tastes great! Cheers Robert!

Always loved the 10 year but the 15 was not my jam. Too much sherry influence burying the distillery character that makes springbank so unique.
Absolutely love the 12 year and need to try more.
The 12cs is an incredible pour!
Best scotch distillery imho, but becoming very hard to find these days
Absolutely! They haven't scaled production with the increased demand... which I can respect!

12 year old Cask Strength is the best of the bunch.
12 cs is a FANTASTIC bottle… I would agree it’s one of the Springbank heavy hitters!! Cheers!
@@TheThirstyOak I only wish it was more easily available.

What a hoot.
Sadly, I cannot stand Scotch.
It's not for everybody! Is Bourbon the drink of choice?
@@TheThirstyOak , pretty much anything other than Scotch. But, I have tried to like Scotch.
Fair enough!!
