    My uncle had one of these OC-3 crawlers in the 1950's and used it in the winter in the same way. We also used it to make trench silos, in Minnesota. Oliver had bought out Cletrac.

      I made a big mistake in selling this one. I wish I could find it and get it back! Great machine!

      @@MaineMachinist On the one we had, the tracks were spaced out a lot more from the frame of the tracor. It had a 4 cylinder gas engine, My uncle had two other Olivers, a Model 77 and a Model 88, both gas sixes. I drove the OC3 some at about age 13 - (1955). I am 80 now.

      @@charleshouck4309 those are great memories. This Oliver had a gas engine also. I believe it was the Hercules 2.2 4 cylinder.

    I have a 1937 OC3 that is being restored , i've been on it for 3 yrs now just taking my time with her...! This crawler had been use on the farm in Iowa up till 2005 when the farmer I was working for , for many , many yrs had retired , I offered to buy it and he said " SON " u can have it for a gift...!!! So I brought it down to Missouri where I had moved to and has been in my shop since...! Replaced the Continental motor with a Oliver 60 motor for more horsepower....!!! This crawler was used everyday on the farm , everything original except the motor...!!!

      That sounds like a fantastic find. As you know, there are a lot of problems with old tractors being "modified" by farmers and owners over the years. If you can find a one owner tractor or one that was kept original, it really helps!

      @@MaineMachinist they had lots of problems with the Continental motors , so we switched it out to the 60 for more power , plus the parts was easier to get also...!!!

      @@tonypickrell4281 That sounds like a good plan. The OC3 in this video has a Hercules IXB3 engine. It had a lot of hours on it and really needs an overhaul... or a switch to a larger engine like you mention!

      @@MaineMachinist Hello ! I have the same machine oc3 with an aAnderson 5 foot dozer blade on it. How big is your snow blade? I prefer a snow blade to the dozer 5 foot blade. Can we see how you mounted the blade? does it angle?? Great video!!! Thanks john !!!

    Nice Oliver. Would love to have a bulldozer like that. A fella here on PEI has a 1963 Oliver that he uses for his driveway. He said. Ya gotta be careful on the ice on the driveway. You can slide sideways quickly.

    • @MaineMachinist
      @MaineMachinist  4 роки тому +1

      He's right, but mine had nice cleats welded up on the tracks. Got great traction even on my icy driveway that is a decent grade

    Did you sell that? The guy down the road here in Milo has one just like that but a different seat.

      I did sell it, but I don’t think it went to Milo. Maybe it has by now.

  • @noelstractors-firewood57
    @noelstractors-firewood57 4 роки тому +1

    Ya, I was thinking that if you welded some thing on the tracks, it would help the sideways sliding.

    Enjoyed the video, I'm in the process of getting 1OC 3 and 3 Oliver HG's up and running. The OC-3 and an HG 42 have Anderson Plows like yours, one is a HG 68 and the other is a straight HG 42 without plow. Let's see that winch in action. God Bless!

      +Outbackrider Thank you for the comment. I'm happy to hear you are working on those great machines. They really are useful. I'm using mine now to pull out some stumps. I fenced the pigs in around them last year to work at them and now I'm going to try to pull them out. Maybe I can make a video of that too.

    Your OC-3 is doing a great job. I have a 1952 OC-3 that I plow snow with as well. Your's looks better than mine, LOL..... But my OC-3 still runs great and get's the job done.
