    Just a suggestion from an old logger .....this will make your life a little easier sometimes..... when you're cutting off root balls try hooking up your chains before you cut them off and then you won't have to fight to get the chain under the tree after it falls down on the ground .😜

    • @4Dan21
      @4Dan21  8 місяців тому +1

      lol ya a few people have suggested that 😂 I didn’t think of it at the time but yes that would be much easier 😂 thanks for the suggestion 😊

    Hi, I love that OC 3, a farmer down the road from us had two of them many years ago. I always wanted to get one but bought two Ford 8N tractors instead and a friend gave me a 9N that needed some work. Your video reminds me of what I do at my place. Keep up the great work. All the best, Ken

      Hey! Ya those 8ns and 9ns are good little tractors too! But the Oliver is a little beast in the bush lol thanks for the support! 😊

    I had one of those olivers. Narrow 42 inch track perfect application. Pull in lumber out of the woods or spreading manure in the spring or winner

    My father hit a stump covered with leaves with an Oliver just like that, the crawler rared up then pitched down hard. it catapulted my dad up over the steering levers onto the hood, he fell off the hood down in between the track and the machine. luckily the engine quit. he came home all bruised up but he did come home 🙂🙂🙂

    Thanks Dan for posting this video.
    I am looking to buy a dozer as well for wood loging. I have logs 25-27 inch in diameter and up hill. This year did it with a john deere 5115 4x4, but quite difficult.
    The main problem I had no grip on the ground, tires were new. On top of that it was the tractor of my friend and I did some skratches on it :(:(.
    Now I plan to buy a dozer , found one near me UTB 445, not sure if he can handle it butyou video made me understand that they have a good grip

    • @4Dan21
      @4Dan21  7 місяців тому

      Hey Thanks for the support! It should deff have the grip so long as it has the power to turn the tracks 😊 a crawler loader would also be a good option because you have the pulling power but also have the front bucket you can put forks on for lifting logs and doing other work around the property 😊 Hope it works out for you!

    Sometimes I wish I had bought an OC3 instead of my MC and others I am glad I have what I have. Your OC3 is wide so you can stay put on a side hill steeper that 45 degrees where I start to slide but then my 14 inch wide grousers let me sit on top of a crust of snow, If you drag more logs in snow try using an old car or truck hood for the butt ends to ride on. I just pick up the ends with my hoe but you dont even have a two point. Sooner or later a butt end is going to dig in on you and you might wind up in trouble.

    • @4Dan21
      @4Dan21  9 місяців тому

      Yes that’s true too! That’s a good idea with the car hood 😊 worse case if I was in trouble I could use a farm jack or something to get the end up enough maybe? But I guess I’ll do what I always do and make it up as I go along 😂

    I will never understand why Oliver decided those crawlers needed to be so wide, a farmer I knew used to have a deadrow of about ten of them, all killed by the axle tubes breaking

    • @hartstudebakerkid
      @hartstudebakerkid 9 місяців тому +2

      They were made in different widths measured from center to center of the track. 31, 42, 60 and 68 inches so overall widths 41 5/16, 52 5/16, 70 5/16 and 78 5/16.

      we had one and back in those days they were use as a row crop tractor also so if you got a lot of rain we would run it up the rows to dry the rows out and also for spraying crops when it was to wet to get in with rubber wheel tractor even working field up with digger to dry he fields out it was a 3 speed tractor
