For reliability the Highlander but for features, luxury and space I'd get the Pallisade or Telluride and to be honest Hyundai's quality is not far off from Toyota nowadays.
The 2020 MDX may be outdated, but you can't deny it's still a great car, it drives well, the tech is old but simple to use for the average person, that 3.5-L V6 sounds amazing, and SH-AWD is always perfection.
The exterior of the MDX is superb. I think it will age very well. I agree the interior needs updating but the exterior is great looking. The 2021 mode will have a completely new design.
We have 2019 Tech Package. It is a fine SUV. Still looks good and has lot of safety features. Drives really well. Had chance to drive in the snow. Extremely capable. We have been happy with it so far. People need to realize what you may not like might be something someone else likes.
Acura, It's time for a major redesign. Still a game changer and pack leader, but there are other brands that offer more for the same price. If the design can get redone to stand out from its competitors, than it will regain its crown. Excellent review Nolan 👍
Hi, I really enjoy the way you FILM & EDIT your video, especially when you zoom in on what you are currently talk about (which most don’t). Nice and loud voice👍 Continued doing what you doing brother👌
My 2016 MDX tech was broken into and I took it to the dealer and they brought me a 2020 courtesy MDX advance pkg. you notice the difference. It’s a smooth ride but not a fan of the auto stop start . The interior feel comfortable . Love that the mirrors fold when you lock the truck. Also love the front grill.and dual exhaust. Thanks soo much for sharing. My husband and son loved it as well. ,
Yeah auto start stop gets a bit of getting used to, especially in my 2021 RAV-4. It took me a while to get used to, but it's not as bad anymore, but I know a lot of people might turn that off.
Thanks for the review. Was hoping you would have reviewed the 2020 MDX Hybrid Advance....what an incredible vehicle. Possibly you could get your hands on one. The difference from any MDX is obvious. Think you'd love it.
For some reason, I'm totally digging that push button glove box! I like the outside look of this MDX, but it's a love-hate with the inside for sure. The red push-to-start button is a nice touch. I really like your signature water bottle... can't find that exact model anywhere though lol. You should open a store :) Happy new year to you and your fam, Nolan!
Hey man I've enjoyed your review on the MDX. I really like this body style but the interior is starting to show its age. It's definitely time for a redesign. But with that being said I'd still purchase one because of the drivetrain. And the 3.5 v6 sounds amazing! Another great job man!
@@eddiegunz3551 You tried cat cleaners? I read the long term effect might be dirty cats and alike, best to keep cleaning those out every oil change (redline s1, BG cleaner etc)
Had an 2005 MDX and moved up to X5. My father in law purchased a 2013 MDX and wants a 2020 MDX. My wife likes the MDX but I don’t like the soft suspension and power of the engine . At least they are a lot closer in power in 2020. They need a 350-400 HP version. Then I would be sold on it.
Great review mate! For the car if it's Acura's most important vehicle, they should have consistently improve on it and give it a super makeover like they did with the RDX. The vehicle looks heavily dated for a 2020 vehicle.
Just ended my lease on a Lexus RX fsport. Not sure what to get next. I also had a mdx before the Lexus. Although the mdx is a funner vehicle to drive, I can’t get over the dated interior.maybe I’ll wait for the 2021 model that should be out in the fall? Then compare with others?
That’s tough. Your right about MDX being more fun and I’m sure the 2021 redesign will be pretty awesome. Lexus IS always a safe option too so I guess it depends what matters the most to you 👍
most of these new cars have things on it that you never use pretty much just a gimmick so aging is a stretch it looks good in and out to me as long as my gps works and I have a good sound system I'm good
Hey Nolan! I’m sure the MDX is a fine vehicle and I know it’s past due for a redesign, but it just doesn’t do anything for me. I have the same opinion of Acura in general. They feel too mainstream to justify the cost and overall they feel too close to a Honda for my liking. The gray with red/black color combo pops, but that interior looks cheap and definitely would not fair well with kids. Not a fan of the dual screens either and they look years behind the times. I really wish Honda/Acura would do away with the push button shifter too. I think Acura is a bit stingy with some of the equipment. Other SUV’s costing thousands less have a lot of the features missing on this $55,000 MDX. If I was in the market for something like this, I’d take a Telluride, Ascent, or maybe a CX-9 over this; take a nice vacation and pay off a bill or two with the money I saved. Well that’s my two-cents. Lol. Have a Happy New Year!
Acura fell off big time! At a car show a year ago as me and my buddy were walking toward the luxury section I mentioned oh look..."here are all the luxury makes. Lexus, Audi, Acura, Mercedes. And he simply says... "Is Axura luxury though?" I almost died laughing.
I’m with you and I’d also rather have those mainstream options and out the money elsewhere. I appreciate the support and Happy New Year to you too my friend! Wish you the best!
i really hate those rear taillights. the fact is that it is 2020 and they STILL are using incandescent lights. the only led part of them are the accent lights. for a 57k dollar car you would expect something better. i mean the pilot gets more exterior led lights then this. hope they fix it with next years redesign!
They could update the exterior (and definitely the interior) a little bit, it's kinda Meh. For a "luxury" brand, Acura needs to step it up, but Honda isn't known for exciting designs so I guess it's good enough for them 🤷🏾♂️
Interior is the biggest let down of the vehicle. PS: 2017-2019 auto transmission was garbage. It felt slow to shift and seemed like it didn't know when is the right time to shift. Hopefully 2020 fixed it. Waiting for a brand new MDX where interior (mostly infotainment system and gauge cluster) will finally be competitive with other brands.
If anyone considers getting the MDX, think twice before biting the bullet. Acura/Honda quality has been declining recently. My MDX (2018) went haywire in the middle of a mountain road. Engine went off. All system went unresponsive, including the brake system. You can imagine how dangerous that was in the middle of a mountain road. We took to an Acura dealer. They acknowledged something went wrong as the computer system recorded all kinds of errors, but they didn't know what caused the problems. They just reset the warnings and acted like nothing happened. We've been afraid to take the $45K "luxury" car on any trip ever since. Another little annoyance is the "brake clunking" issue that they claim to be normal. Mine started making a clunking noise when turning and braking in and out of parking. Started to happen around 3,500 miles. Too many unresolved issues for a "luxury" car.
This so called 2020 design has been out for a while now and it’s nothing new and if MDX wants to survive and compete Acura will need to redesign this model badly for the better ASAP because Toyota/Lexus and even Honda is taking the lead!
I say aging because it’s still based off the most recent redesign dating back to the 2014 model year. It’s been “refreshed” since then but not updated very much
I've always thought the MDX was a pretty good looking SUV, especially in the older versions. But, imo, it's current design is starting to look a little boring & I feel like the exhaust pipes are extremely too big for the way the back end is designed. It's still a looker, but I don't see anything that would make me give it a 2nd look over something like a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Kia Telluride.
Totally agree! I was surprised to see how behind it is in some aspects but a redesign is coming. still though I’d go for something mainstream like that too. Happy New Year my friend!
Would you consider this 2020 MDX...or what would you go with?
*Thank you for watching and have a great day!*
Nah Hyundai Palisade / Kia Telluride far better
@NORTHWOODSPREPPER1 yep, longest lasting for sure. Wise choice.
NORTHWOODSPREPPER1 ditto!

I just replaced our 2017 mdx for a 2020 mdx. I think they need to put heated steering wheel in all models and heated rear seats.
