I remember that hurricane well. I was in junior high in Punta Gorda and we had friends and family rushing to our house to wait out the storm. What destruction it was for you guys down there. We endured it with hurricane Charlie.
I was in Coconut Grove for Hurricane Andrew. It sucked. The aftermath was AMAZING! After loss of life and massive destruction, the people of Miami came together. We were united. We were one. It was the best of times and, well, you know.
@@mrsuarez430 Yup! And the National Hurricane Center was located across from The U. Before the peak of the storm, the radar was blown off the roof of the building and landed on US1. They could not accurately state that Andrew was a Cat 5 for a long time afterward.
It's been a few years now since hurricane Harvey and the fishing still isn't the same. Every time I drift over the flats I see that the bays are still healing. But slowly its getting there.
We have endured 9 major storms since this time. Ian just last Sept. How dare we beleive that storms are not part of Gods nature on this peninsula. If your gonna live in Fla....suck it up buttercup...we are surrounded by water.
I can relate to this more than most. Our recent hurricane has changed my childhood playground. It will never be the same.

I turned 7 years old four days before Andrew hit and was in Miami for it, not a good time! Can't imagine being even further south Flip!
And now, Walker's Cay is fundamentally changed by Dorian. Big wheel keep on turning.
