If possible, you should leave a tiny opening near the rear of the scooter for water to evaporate just incase it gets in. Just make sure it's a spot where water doesn't splash.
Do it right water won't get in.
As an RC guy, corrosionX HD is the very best way to waterproof any electronics. Simple spray all and any of your electronics with no worries and it's highly effective.
Heat becomes an issue with these things.
@@GingerOnWheels Here's a great look at the above mentioned in action - ua-cam.com/video/s4z8QMgTEA4/v-deo.html
Yesssss!!! I always ask on the forums how to do this... everyone always replies... heaps of youtube vids... yeah, there were a couple but not EXPLAINED well and in EASY TO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH... awesome video as always thank you!!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Such a useful video. Waterproofing is one of the maintenance methods for scooters.
You have to do where the kickstand bolts under the deck. Or at the very least, remove kickstand and silicone around the 2 kickstand screw holes that pop through the plastic.
Those act as drainholes in case water does get in. 🙂
Would love to see you do Mantis, since there are so many gaps for water to get in, even dust and dirt gets in.
Same principal applies. Take it apart. Seal it up with silicone or rtv and put it back together and seal up any other spots you see.
@@GingerOnWheels I am still surprised most electric scooters don't have proper waterproofing and seals, considering it is one of the most important aspects with electric devices and specially how much these devices cost.
How did you get the nuts back on the two middle screws?
I would like to know too
They should clearly design these things with O rings and much better water proofing, here in South FL i have to take my car to work instead half the time because of fear or burning my scooter due to heavy rains!
It's easier with the right tools, one beer however is the wrong quantity, looks like a 3 beer minimum job, at least.
My kaabo mantis pro is waterproofed. But why the company does do it before shipping is beyond me.
If you use a higher grade of silicone it'll take less time to cure and harden, an aquatic brand. The kind people use on boats and n fish tanks.
You can get different coloured Auto Gasket Maker for different heat range, against oils or petrol ect, and would make a Perfect Sealant
Wet your Finger to Wipe Off Excess
Can you do a front rotor change video for the pegasus, please? :)
Hello Ginger, am always liking your videos, man. However, is there a way you can make another video on waterproofing the Apollo Phantom for those of us with Apollo Phantom? I can't wait to learn!
I don't own, or plan to own, the phantom. Just seal all the holes off into the deck with silicone. Wrap the handlebar electronics with celephane.
@@GingerOnWheels
Okay ma man, I think the sealant is the best solution in town. I will try it that way. Thanks for your time and reply, anyway.
Yup will be useful cus Vancouver ain’t called rain city for nothing
Facts, I love in PA and it's been raining like crazy past couple weeks. It's been insanely annoying because I just got into scooters and I haven't been able to ride without worrying it's gonna die on me lol I just ordered the ausom leopard scooter. It's only single motor but I need something cheap and fast to mess with and learn how to work on the higher end scooters with swing arms and shit. It's crazy how sick some higher end scooters are lol
What about the hubs? Surely they'd be starting to rust
Hey Ginger I love your content. You have been my main source for scooter reviews. I liked your review of the Valara Pegasus and it helped me make my decision before purchasing. I was able to find a used one on OfferUp with 355 miles on it and purchased in May 2022 by the original owner. This is scooter is exactly how you describe and really hard to beat in its price range! However once I purchase this and the battery appear to be fully charged I was only able to drive 10 miles before this scooter shut off. Error code 10 is what I believe it saw before the LCD screen faded away. Walk of shame back to my house and put the scooter on charger. it powered back up so I thought I would let it fully charge until the light turn green on the charger and the volts we're around 53. Took it for another test drive and dual motor only to have the same thing happen again but this time the LCD read error code 6 Do you have any videos about this? You are my trusted scooter guy can you offer me any suggestions? Thank you Ginger 🛴💨
Sorry man I wish I knew more about that code, but I've never seen it before. Hopefully you're able to get it sorted out.
there is a video on taking the hub motors apart and putting a anti corrosion spray paint on inside magnets etc.... to help with water proofing what is your opinion on that one?
How would you waterproof the LED screen?
I would probably wrap it in some sort of heat shrink wrap. Or carefully use clear liquid electrical tape around the seals and wire holes.
Thanks for all the information. Do you have a tutorial for changing the break pads on the varla pegasus?
I don't. But it's the exact same procedure as any bike with cable actuated disc brakes so you can just look up those tutorials 🙂
Cool vid. Now does anybody know if you can pit another battery (removing the one it has) and making it go longer distance without damaging the Pegasus?
Since it is dual motor i think there is not enough space for a bigger battery without getting more expensive denser cells by LG or samsung, which might not be cost effective enough.
How’s you pegasus on range? I can only get 16 miles out of mines.
I used pvc tape on my Kaboo mantis 10 i wrapped everywhere but the side led lights with raincoat material and pvc tape i havnt had a issue at all in the rain I avoid big puddles thou I will use Silicone just not yet
Nice job! If it works then it works. Thanks for sharing.
not a bad video but I think for this purpose its worth buying a new tube of silicone for 5-10 bucks honestly rather than trying to smoosh an old half tube of silicone in there. When your trying to seal up a $2000 scooter i think its worth the investment. You can squeeze more into the right spots and waste less also with the applicator tube. Just make sure u use the right silicone too
Are there issues with the battery or internals overheating due to a lack of venting if you do this?
Not that I've had. The frame is made of aluminum so I'd guess it acts as a sort of heat sink for the battery and controllers. Granted, I've never tested it in temps above 80F.
can you review more lower end off-road scooters
Cool beans! I think I'll give it a try. You can't be too careful. Oh and once again love the cat in the video.
Are you able to do a video on swapping the Pegasus' brakes to hydraulic brakes?
Instead of Silicone Sealant try using Plumbers Putty instead as that doesn't set and so is easily removable.
Great video! I'm going to do this with my Inokim quick 4 scooter. Probably a silly question, but is there anything that needs to be done to the hub motor in the rear wheel to waterproof it as well?
Thankyou, good content. I have a mercane widewheel Pro and am using it to get round our local golf course for the last 2years, with a outrigger to carry my clubs. Sometimes in the rain. I get nervous when it gets wet however no issues so far. Do you have any advice for my situation?
You mean water resistant. Unless you are having it lab tested for ingress protection, you can't say it's waterproof. Most IP rating are not 100% waterproof. As far as tiny holes, water can wick through them by means of capillary action. I'm not trolling or trying to ba an a$$. Just don't want anyone being mislead by the word "waterproof" same thing goes for the word "indestructible".
Thats why I said water resistant at the end.
@@GingerOnWheels fair enough. I still liked the video and think this is better than nothing. Keep up the great work.
Please test the Wolf King GT.
Does anyone know any battery packs that will work with this scooter?
Hey how's it going? Not related but got a quick ? VS11+ or 🐺👑? Ty any advice would help.
FYI have a gotrax 20/45 for work want something for Fun live in NYC thanks. 😁
Well thanks anyway. I grabbed something hopefully it will work 🍻
What kind of silicone are you using please I need help with this is a red blue transparent that what brand and what are the possible ones I can use it Kyle silicone is there any specific brand or any type of silicone that I need to use also do I need to use another one for the controller meaning the throttle display
Thanks another great video 😊 How would you waterproof the deck OG the Kukrin G3 Pro ?
Hey Ginger, need help. I need to get hydraulic brake fluid kit but dont have time to order it for my kaabo warrior. Do you know of any stores i scoot over and buy it. Thanks for any help and previously help in the past. Thanks john.
Will this void the 2 year warrenty?
I would ask Varla. It might.
How about applying silicon to your engines, did you do that?
I’ll just temporarily wrap my scooter with saran wrap
Lots of people actually do that. Mostly in the Philippines from what I've seen. They call it cling wrap season, I shit you not.
@@GingerOnWheels Right, 🙂 it will cause the battery to more heat. Is just for emergency if I’ll need to drive in the rain to go home or etc. 🙂
Nice job
Would it be a bad idea to add some silica gel packets? Just incase any condensation gets inside that can't be aired out?
Hmm maybe not a bad idea but I think those are just for absorbing trace amounts of humidity. Might work though, it's not a bad idea.
Really love your videos, they are essential for noobs like me ;) stay safe!
Can you perhaps follow up by spilling water onto the parts and see results? Does water repelent spray on the corners also add help or is it unnecessary?
The guy has ridden several scooters of his in rain and snow, so check out those vids
Water repellent spray does nothing except protext the surface you sprayed it on - if there are gaps or holes, just silicone it
It doesn't rain in 🌞California
what would you do for the charging port? as i realize the charging ports are usually covered by a very loose cover and i would imagine that is important too? thanks!
That little rubber cover needs to be on. Not a whole lot else you can do. It won't pop off by itself without some work, so as long as you remember to close it, then you're good.
How did you wash that scooter so well?! No dirt or dust marks, on wheels or on deck... Or is it new?
Just wet paper towel and 5 minutes ....
Any tips for kaabo skywalker 8s ^^?
What can you use to re attach the rubber standing mat? It has a sticky substance but I’d like to reapply to make it staton? (The May that goes on the top metal compartment ) I have the eagle one
Liquid nails or similar construction adhesive applied in very small drops around the mat.
Good luck running that solid tire over wet pavement
Rides my ninebot max in any rain and its fine.
because they are true rated with IPx5
If an Tesla can be waterproof, why not a E-Scooter?
How would you water proof a unagi scooter anyone have any good ideas please let me know
Thanks people
why wont you used gasket maker that are used on cars and motorcycle?
Sure, do whatever you need to in order to keep water out of the deck. People in the Phillipines have 'cling wrap season' where they legit wrap their scooters in cling wrap for the rainy season hahaha. Do what you gotta do.
@@GingerOnWheels omg CLING WRAP!!!!! Why haven't I thought of that before.
10:54
thats what she said
Great videos!! love the way you explain this
I have a unagi scooter and I can't find any spare parts and any Water proofing parts
So do anyone on here know anywhere that I can find/get spare parts if someone do then please leave a comment cuz it will be very helpful
Thanks
I just take a large trash bag and poke 2 holes for the wheels and get into the bag and run my scooter that way in the rain.
Great video though. Thanks for making it
You kid, but lots of people do that. In Manila I know some guys that do 'shrink wrap season'. Its when they wrap their scooters in shrink wrap for the rainy season lol. Works like a charm!
@@GingerOnWheels amazing.
My question is, when manufacturers make a product and dub it waterproof; why cant they do that to begin with?
I'm confused, what do you mean? Varla never said the Pegasus was waterproof. They don't do it at the factory because it's a feature not everyone needs but it increases the cost per unit.
Do you also water proof the throttle?
Its already resistant.
Hi Kitty!
For that type of money you would think it would come waterproof.. 👎
Motor?
Yes.. it has motors. Good observation.
I think they're asking if the motor needs any sort of water-proofing attention.
although waterproofing is a great idea. I would also encourage to put a drain hole. water will always find a way to come in especially cause of the vibration of the scooter while riding or condensation during cold weather. Drain hole prevents water to build up and accumulate over time inside the scooter. It is a great idea that you put silicone on all entry but you'll never see when it gets damaged and let water seep in slowly
Is it possible to Gorilla Tape the whole bottom jk nice video 👊🏽
Grate🍟
Bruh they don’t send to eu
😔
@@GingerOnWheels 🙁
I got a question what are the best tires for the zero 8x pro?
scooter ruined yeah
Dude get that ugly duck tape off that beautiful scooter, the horn already is sealed off from moisture with a thin layer of internal tape lol
