I don't know, that BMW is looking pretty sexy to me.
Great compilation !
I’d pick Indian out of the 3..
Thank you!
And yet, you own none of the three....
@@Steve_Kelly_Oak No I don’t.. I meant my pick is Indian out of the 3 “given a choice”..
@@sathishrao7926 Fair enough...
@@Steve_Kelly_Oak whats ur problem ha
I bought a Indian scout last year and basically upgraded it to be what the chief is now. I'm really liking the Chief, and may consider trading up. Had I known this was coming out I would have waited instead of investing so much into my scout that I could have just paid for a Chief.
Keep making your vids, mate. This was a comprehensive and objective comparison. I love it!
Thank you very much! 👍
I'm a strong American Cruisers fan, But definately the Amazing BMW R18 Has touched my heart since I saw it for The first time, So No doubt at all The Amazing, Powerful, Awesome, Majestic, Imponent, Impressive, and Spectacular German Beast BMW R18 My favorite Cruiser ❤️!!!, Great video, Thanks for sharing 👊👍✌️!!!
Truly an excellent analysis, well presented, useful. Love how your graphics support the commentary. Cheers!
Thank so much! 👍
I’ve never really been that into cruisers, but since I saw the Indian Chief at a bike show recently, it is all I want. Love the chief bobber with 10” mini apes. 👍🏻
I really like the Indian
I want it so
Bad
Yeah I own a scout bobber and having a hard time not wanting to go get one of the new chiefs
Right I just bought the street bob and I might take it back for the Indian haha
@@Spaded4life13 did I end up trading it or keeping the street bob?
Outstanding! Well done!! Finally a comparison video that is practical. Seems our submarine purchasing friends from down-under really know how to do it right. Thanks guys. It was very helpful.
Thank you! I'm glad you found it useful 👍
Perfect comparison with great simulations!
I found myself on the market for a new bike and I have the chief and street bob on the radar. Your video is by far the best one out there with plenty of useful info and content. Well done!
Thank you!
Never considered the Harley. Why? Everybody’s got one. The Indian was on my radar purely because it was an alternative to the Harley. But I bought the BMW because it was neither!🤣 Absolutely love it! Got it last November & have now done just on 3,000km. It’s averaging dead on 5L per 100km. The handling is sublime. It’s weight completely disappears as you go increase speed. The torque is unbelievable & immediate from take off, & it stops!😎👍🏼🇦🇺
Nice! Thanks for sharing the info 👍
Exactly. My 2nd gen Valkyrie would smoke any of these bikes, but that BMW is SOOO cool and unique... HD, forget about it..EVERYONE has one..borrring...
@@AdrianRP1 and for $2,500 for a clean used valkery today, they're pretty good bargain
I Like all 3 - But I got a new to me 2021 R18C a year ago - Its just an amazing machine, no regrets (apart I still haven't told the wife)
Excellent overview in the comparison of said models..real numbers give the consumer food for thought..now it's just comes down to fit n feel for the potential buyer..subscribed 👍
Thank you!
Great video! A truly comprehensive comparison. The power train of the BMW is so incredible looking and would really stand out in a crowd. The stripped down look of the Chief combined with great tech draws me to the Indian. However, the new paint schemes and the 114 c.i. motor on the Street Bob make it the ultimate Harley value. The Softail Standard is no longer needed.
I really like the way you compared these three bikes and put two different size riders on each one, you have a new subscriber
Thanks Robyn!
I own an Indian scout bobber already so for me the new Indian if I get a bigger cruiser is def another Indian.
Great comparisons! You may want to record each bike's sound for comparisons going forward.
Three great looking bikes. I’m happy with my street bob but wouldn’t say no to either of the other 2
THE BEST REVIEWS! I'm 6'4" with a 32 inch inseam....and I live 4 hours from any motorcycle store! I REALLY appreciate your "different height" seating position segments! EXTREMELY helpful.
Thanks Ray I'm glad you're finding them to be of value! 👍
In the same Ray. 6'4" 32" inseam at 220lbs. The R18 fit me nicely.
@@waydehomemade5368 My problem, is that I have that same 32" inseam at 5'11". I've only really been comfortable on bikes w/ forward controls & those that are a bit more extended, like Harley & Indian compared to metric brands. I liked my Street Glide, but the fairing made me feel claustrophobic, so I swapped to the Road Glide Limited.
Im 24 and purchased the 2021 streebob 114 and it is an amazing bike. It's a nice balance of old school and more modern touches. I like the fact that it's an old school engine with modern fuel injection.
Excellent comparison! Cheers from Maryland!
Thanks Henry and hello Maryland! 👍
Love you content! Let's get you to 10k asap!
Very nicely explained. Clean and simple comparison.
Thank you 🙂
It's all good with figures, but the BMW have all the looks .I'm not exactly the person who can make the choice as I'm more of a cars fan ,but this R18 is the best looking bike to come out in many ,many years if not several decades. There is no any doubt about that.
Excellent reviews !!! You're mind blowing !!! Kudos
Thank you!
This was a great video! Thanks man!
Glad you liked it!
Glad you liked it!
Great info..Harley 48 here and that Chief is calling me! I’ll be due for an upgrade within a year and it just got interesting..
Thank you!
I’ve owned several BMWs, two Indians, more Harleys than I can count, and I currently own a Street Bob. From this comparison, I’d rather have the Indian.
You cite the comparo but that shows the Chief coming in 2nd. What am i missing? Bad Streetbob experience?
I own a 2020 softail standard which as y'all know it's the same as the older/newer street bobs. Only difference is the new street bob comes with a 114 instead of the 107. I'm only 5'6 and the bike fits me great even the mini apes, but I am changing them out for some risers/moto style bars
I have the same bike, but I’m 6’1”, I come from a Brit bike background so I was used to mid controls. I switched to front controls, man it made all the difference in the world. Lovin the st std.
I have the 2020 Street Bob and I love my bike. I don't care about the 114 "upgrade" on the 2021. I've got the Saddlemen Step Up seat and it makes the mini apes much more comfortable, but I am thinking about changing to some smaller risers and moto style bars, too.
I got the 114 with a stage 1 and its powerfull
Great comparisons. Liked and subbed.
Thanks so much!
I live in La La Land , and my nearest Indian dealer is 70 mile away . There's their problem right there
Get a lift there and ride it home?
Looking for an 1800cc and don't want to go 70 miles? That's a stones throw away
@@Ichibuns Bought mine from a dealer over 100 miles away. Believe it or not when it comes in I'm even going to ride it home haha.
An hour and a half ride is too much? You sure you want to ride a motorcycle?
This dude is getting straight roasted 🔥
Brilliant review..well done!
Thank you!
Great Video. Keep up the good work. Very objective and clear. In Germany pricing is crazy, Chief Dark Horse is 18.000 EUR, BMW is 22.800 EUR and HD SB is 15.495 EUR.
Thank you and thanks for the info! 👍
Hd sb is 18.495 eur in the netherlands.
@@mrnizzi buy it in Aachen or somewhere close by. Not sure what would you need to pay in taxes though, once you take it back to Netherlands.
The problem is: in Europe the Streetbob and the Chief have lesser horse power and tourque due to exhaust regulations. The R18 was constructed with these regulations in mind, so torque and horsepower are the same everywhere.
I just got a street bob, great video
Excellent video! You got a new subscriber here!!
Awesome, thank you!
That was a really impressive content. Keep it up Sir.
Thanks, will do! 👍
Excellent video. Love the details included. A tough choice too. They are all decent bikes. I think I would go for the Indian. I love my Fat Bob 114 though.
BMW and a Fat Bob 114, nice choices. 👍
Indian chief dark horse my pick, its very stunning and superb in few months I'm going to buy
Nice choice 👍
Basically zero people will use the BMW R 18 long enough to get full benefit of that drive shaft. They will sell it before it matters.
Why?
@@filippocorti6760 A Harley Drive belt lasts 80-100k miles and a replacement is 150-200 dollars. Very few riders will make it that far on an R18, so it is irrelevant. Maybe 1-3% of riders will make it that long.
The drive shaft may last longer than that, but who cares.
@@Evirthewarrior haven ridden BMW belt drive.vike in the past it's £200 for the BMW version and £40 for the (literally identical) Contitech version. Continental make all the parts regardless of what badge is stamped on them
@@gerardmontgomery280 It sounds like that's what the part costs. Am I correct?
@@Evirthewarrior I had the impression the Harley belt costs more than that for the part and labor to install it. And that it lasts less than 80-100K.
Brilliant comparison!
Thank you!
Great video mate 👍 I'm really liking the new Indian. Stay safe 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Tim! Keep rocking that Iron 1200. I'm enjoying watching your videos 👍
Harley Street Bob, my pick
UA-cam is recommending your video. I bet you'll be at 10k subs in no time.
That's great news! 👍
That Harley street bob 114 with the new tank graphics had me jumping out of my chair when it first came out and that hasn’t changed for me. I’ll take the street bob! Besides that, there are 2 Harley dealerships in Tulsa where I live and getting service, parts, accessories are all very accessible to me. There is a Polaris/ Indian dealership right down the road but the service there is very subpar from my experience and I have to think that getting any help from them would require twisting some arms. Btw they also sell BMW and Honda so that seems odd to me, a Polaris, Indian, BMW, Honda dealership? Yep. I’ll stick with Harley Davidson for now.
I got a street bob 114 and its a monster
Another great vid mate
Thanks Perry! 👍
Good comparison. You should add a variable in your future comparisons - Technology.
Harley-Davidson got it right w the knuckle handle bar display unit.
Have to agree, I like it 👍
Well done, sir, thanks.
Thanks Dan, you're welcome! 👍
Think one of each would look great in my garage 😃
Harley & Indian 🇺🇸💪
Excellent video the r18 is now totally out of the frame prices in the UK are dropping so fast they can't shift them at any cost. Love the look of the Indian would be on my
list .ride a softail slim at the moment but maybe an Indian bobber next
I have a 2020 street bob 107 stage 2... I was SO pissed when they came out with the 114 for 2021 street bobs 😂
Love those Indian motorcycles!
They just keep getting better and better!
I’m getting ready to trade up my Triumph Bobber, and am deciding between the Harley and the Indian. Great video, very helpful in making my decision. Not 100% yet, but leaning toward the Chief Dark Horse Bobber.
Thank you! Yeah it's a tough decision. I think it'll really come down to a test ride, I'd need to do that before I could pick one 👍
why trade the bobber? Its light powerful and looks fantastic! Just dont get it.
Great Video and comparison mate, keep it up. Just one small thing, I strongly doubt that the street bob 114 stock, makes 100 hp, I think it's around the end of eighties, beginning nineties. Thanks
Thank you! Yes it's getting harder to get actual factory horsepower numbers nowadays, I have to eek them out where I can and I think you're right. I'll do some more homework and see if I can try and pin down a more accurate horsepower figures for the Harley 👍
I have a 114 and the power figures are more around 79-80 HP and around 110-113 tq. Great comparo, that Indian is looking very sexy.
The 114 is about 90hp, 120 torque at the crank
Aftermarket exhaust and a proper tune will wake the 114 from 90hp to 120hp
@@Twincam808 I find that hard to believe when the 131 kit gets it to around 130ish hp
Another nice comparo, partner...as an old quarter-miler, I enjoy bench racing. As you pointed out, the figures you have to go by are simply those quoted by the manufacturer, and we all know that rear-wheel power is rarely what they are reporting. Many variables after the crankshaft can affect what is available when one twists the wrist. According to the numbers, my 2007 V Star 1300 shouldn't be anywhere near as quick as it is, but it punches well above its weight, keeping up with almost every cruiser with a twin up to 1800ccs. (13.1 second quarter bone stock.)
Thank you! Yes I wish manufacturers would all quote rear horsepower. I really enjoyed reading your comment and that's an impressive time for the V Star 👍
@@BikesILike After a cold air kit, 2-1-2 exhaust, and a fuel controller, it's a mid-12 second machine now, with a top end of 138 MPH (GPS verified). Been looking at turbos...LOL
Brilliant video thankyou I would like to see the BMW with the Indian rouge thanks though
Thanks Paul!
Nice to see some companies finally trying to keep up with the Suzuki M109R
No liquid cool here
I might have to throw a M109R in the mix somewhere to see how it compares 👍
@@BikesILike I traded my M109R for a fully loaded Indian road master with the full complete 116 upgrade last year. Major disappointment in throttle response, torque and over all preferences from my M109R. Would rate stock comfort of the Indian at about a 6. Bought it to keep riding due to back issues. But miss the happiness my M109R gave me.
@@communication3815 should bought a Challenger
The BMW's a winner, from the ride and all but forever forget final drive maintenance but does it have hydraulic valve lash adjustment like the other two ? Also, I like the Indian's lack of primary chains.
I ordered and purchased the new Street Bob and paid 23k... It's now 27k to buy new - The S'Bob will always out punch the other two in performance and hold a far better resale. Mine has been re-mapped, had an aftermarket exhaust and intake and it pulls like a train though every gear which is a ball.
Not a looser in the bunch, I just might have to go with the BMW something about it makes me want to sit and look at it. Same goes for the Harley Davidson. The Indian needs a different front fender, it just seems out of place in some way. But I wouldn't say no if I was given one. Love the way you do these videos. Please keep making them.
Thank you!
I’m with you Ted at 5’8”.
😁👍
Excellent Adventure
The R18 is a sales disaster with many dealers sitting on their initial allotment even for the 1st Edition models. BMW already has $1500 US for incentives on this bike and many dealers will toss in even more just to get them out of the shop. It is a bike made for Instagram, not riders.
I would have liked to hear some comments about engine vibration and handling.
Thanks for the feedback Richard. Not possible to provide that kind of feedback without riding them. But as soon as I get the chance I will 👍
Do you think either of these would be suitable as a second bike for a novice rider after they’ve put in their time on their starter bike? Thanks!
Yes! Once you've done your time on a starter bike and have confidence on the road then yes you could ride one of these bikes. Just take your time and ease into it. Start in the lower power modes if the bike has modes.
@@BikesILike absolutely, id definitely ride the bobber dark horse in standard most of the time anyways. Appreciate your insight.
Awesome video!!!!👍🤘
Thank you! 👍
Amazing video
Thank you!
Gotta say, it's easier to replace the drive belt on the Chief than the HD.
If I had the luxury of choosing one of these, I would go with the new Indian chief. I just love it. The devil lies in the details. Regardless: Three great bikes, all three would have made me more than happy.
People always complain about Harleys being expensive but it’s the cheapest here in the as configured form used for comparison in this video. It also almost wins in almost every single category here. All bikes here are awesome but Harley had totally hit it out of the park with the street bob 114. There’s no two ways about it.
Compare them in the real world. Test rode the Harley, meh. I liked the Indian but bought the BM.😎
Any chance you could please review the 2021 harley davidson fatboy?
That's a big yes! I'll add it to my list 😉
@@BikesILike your a star, I can't wait
I'm really stuck between the street bob and the new chief. I was leaning Chief before this video and now after watching it looks like a toss up again. Thinking the Harley might edge out a win from me based on customizability alone. But damn does the Chief bobber dark horse look good with the floating pan seat.
Yes! That seat would be going on mine if I bought one 👍
Get the harley. Resale value alone will win on any category.
Chief Dark Horse per Indian web site starts at $16,999. That is substantially more than the Street Bob. The non-Dark Horse which does not include the touch screen and larger engine which you use to compare is the the lower price.
Ahh I see thank you!
I noticed the same thing. The Harley is just such a great value with this model at $15k
Good presentation.
Like indian scout..
And New Harley Davidson Fat boy
Please compare Bmw R18B vs Indian Challenger vs HD Road Glide (non-CVO) vs Triumph Rocket 3 GT
That's a nice comparo, I'll look at doing that. 👍
Was hesitating with the Indian but went for the Street Bob since I know there is a lot more aftermarket parts available and I always rode on a Harley. But to be honest the Dark Horse is a beauty.
Dunno where you're getting your stats, when the R18 does 0-60 in 2.3 sec., while the HD takes 3.5 sec. to do the same thang.
I'm using BMW's quoted figures for horsepower and torque. But as I said in the video, real world performance may produce a different result. 😉
Totally agree! I bought the R18 last November & it’s scary from take off! Yes I love it!🤤😎👍🏼🇦🇺
@@andrewd7586 I’ve been tempted to buy one. I had a 2017 K1600 GT, and it was scary fast!
Yours either ! 2.3 seconds is more like a 0-30 time. These are cruisers anyway. If you want the fastest times, look at sport bikes.
Thank you for saying "foot boards". I'm a certified Harley tech and I can't stand it when reviews say "floor boards". There's no floor in a motorcycle! Lol
Thank you! I agree it's foot pegs and footboards 👍
Although I think I did say floorboards in one of my videos 😬
@@BikesILike It's all good brother, keep up the good work!
Thanks for your vids. Very informative 👍 But i have a complaint. I think that the numbers of the Indian are somewhat incorrect. If you compare the 116 from Indian the HP may be nearly correct, but the 116 has at least 120 ft torque (162 Nm). This could really equal up the quartemile 😊 Cheers m8 and keep up with the good work 👍
You're welcome, thank you! I'll definitely look at those numbers again for future videos. I'm always trying to find more than one source especially when it comes to horsepower figures but it's becoming increasingly difficult these days. 👍
@@BikesILike Mate, the Indian Chief Dark Horse does have a claimed 162Nm of torque! - it wasn't difficult, just went to the Indian website in Australia. It's also AU$30,495+ driveaway now.
I am very skeptical about such a high HP figure for the HD.
I'm trying to find another source for the HP figures but it's not easy
I absolutely like all three of these bikes. Being a Victory owner and rider I am bit biased towards the Indian. With good reason though, the chief looks very good and is somewhat different from the Harley. I like where Indian is going with their models. They are listening to what people are saying in wanting a middle weight cruiser with a big twin in it. I'm patiently waiting and hoping for another middle weight cruiser with the 108 OHC engine in it.
Well said
I'm really digging the Indian. Great video
Thank you!
I just started building a 2017 Polaris/victory/Indian Motorcycle, that had been involved in a accident a few years ago. I'm used a freedom 106ci 1731cc motor and 6 speed gearbox, with a dark horse frame that I have had to do a lot of modified fab work to make it work. I've got it right about 95% completely done, just got a couple of things to button up before I break it completely down again and do the final paint job and powder coating. I was trying to get it finished before bike week in Daytona but I don't know if I will be able to do it.
Well?
@@SmittyAZ ohh yeah it was finished on time.
@@SmittyAZ I wish I could show it to you. I just put it as my profile picture, check it out. I took it to bike week in Daytona, and it got a lot of attention to say the least. The day I was getting ready to head back home, this guy who was staying in the same hotel as my friends and I. Asked me if I wanted to sale it, and since that's what I mainly do for a living now I said yes.
Two weeks later he's down at my custom Motorcycle shop, in Chattanooga Tennessee paying for and picking up his newly built custom Motorcycle fron my business.
Since then I have already finished up building, and selling a Cholo style Road King that was one of my best builds ever. I've had a great start to 2023 already ,as far as finishing the builds on time and selling them.
@@rpmfreak9150 Cool that you got all that work done and congrats on the sale.
@@SmittyAZ thanks man.
Good comparison exercises, out of all the three bikes you compared I went for the chief, have had three harley davidsons in the past and think they have kinda lost their way a bit compared to indian hence my decision, as for the r18, I just couldn't get used to the lack of foot room behind the cylinders, or maybe it's my big feet, it's a pity cos it's an awesome looking bike but the chief stole the show with looks and better technology .
Yeah I have to agree. I really like the R 18 and the riding position might be fine but the thought of not being able to stretch my legs makes it a no go for me.
As an engineer I have to wonder why the BMW engine casing is so large. What is going on in there? I would expect an efficient boxer engine crank case to be half that size.
Maybe so it can handle a tip over?
There is a lot of stuff packed in that engine housing, so it is not just a crankshaft housing... I believe the old models also had their air filter and ignition in that space above the cylinders.
Good job
Thank you 👍
somthing else i ment to say on the bob there must be some sort of limiter because mine wont go any faster than 122 in 4th 5th or 6th that may change some of the results
Interesting.
Also, the Chief Dark Horse starts at $17k, USD.. The regular Chief with their 111ci starts at $14,499 USD.
I wonder how these bikes would compare to a Triumph Thunderbird, 1700cc bike.
I think the R18 looks great. Unfortunatley , for me at 6'2" its a cramped uncofortable place to sit.
I'd pick the harley
Excelente presentacion, aunque no se ingles pude entender, saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
Gracias. Hola Chile
This choice is an easy one for me. I want buy a Harley, and I won't buy a BMW. So that leaves the gorgeous Indian as my choice. Thanks for the information! Good vid
I love all three. But ya can't put forward foot control on the Beamer.
Loved the straightforward presentation and the graphics. In terms of performance however, paper statistics can be misleading, particularly because the Germans are low key with figures. Look at a Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0 vs a Corvette C8 6.2L, both RWD mid-engine and of comparable mass. The C8 has way way more power, bigger tires, and >50% displacement advantage, but in real world performance, the Boxster can walk away from a C8. I rode the R18 yesterday and have my suspicion that it would be the same story.
One year later. Harley now has the Low Rider S 117 FXLRS. End Game Nuf Said.
I want that tac on the Scout. I'll trade my current bike as soon as that gets on it
Harley came back with this bike.
I waited and got the 21 instead of the 107 on the 2020 everyone I know who has the 107 regrets not doing this and honestly it wasn't even that much more at cost for a bobber cruiser from Harley-Davidson I'm highly impressed especially for people who can't make the cut for the lowrider s or afford it it's an affordable option
