if you chant Om along with this, either in unison or in intervals, you experience the vibration both within and from the external music. It's extraordinary and refreshing to do for 15 minutes! It's my new wake-up chant. really revives me.

Wonderful quote from Terry Riley; “What becomes apparent on listening to an amplified well-tuned drone that La Monte has sculpted is a molecular world of sounds whose workings are ordinarily covered up by fancy rhythmic and melodic footwork. As the listener allows himself or herself to be drawn deeper into the sound, he or she becomes more and more astounded at all the elements that are functioning naturally without the aid of normal manipulation or musical performance... We enter with him here into the world of the sonic microcosm, where an interval becomes a landscape, each detail illuminated.”
What a treasure! I never heard of La Monte Young in music school. I'm doing experimental electronic music now and I can see the evolution. What a great sound!

@@MrLanceDaily Sounds interesting. Not sure I'll put my piano through that though. He has amazing resonance without needing to abuse his strings....hehehe
While it's good to hear that people are performing Young's music - this sounds nothing like the Theater of Eternal music's rendering. This sounds more like David Jackman / Organum.
There was an extraordinary freedom to the choices performers could make. I've never seen a score for this piece or comments by Young or Marian Zazeela about what kinds of restrictions might be imposed. I'm very curious now.

You also uploaded another video with a piece by Young, but it's unavailable now. What is the name of the piece? I've been looking for months and just can't find it anywhere.

@@notlookingfornewengland Right, I can only see that there is an unavailable video. That's a shame, I really enjoy listening to Young's pieces and this is the only way I can do it for now. Could you please tell me the name of the other pieces you had uploaded?

If i remember it correctly it went something like this. I used 6 “films”, each of about 10 sec. All were filmed in an empty room of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. I made x number of films using the 6 films in a random sequence that lasted the whole of LMY’s composition. I then cut vertical segments out of the films and joined all these together. The colour is an unplanned accident, the original films were gray. Don’t know how that happened but i decided not the change it.
