You put so much effort into making these videos. You are a massive contributor to not only the YT community; but to DIY'ers the world over. You ought to feel very proud of yourself mate.
amen brother. Jeff really motivates me and teaches with variety of techniques ( visual, audio, conceptually ) He addresses his audience as if he’s talking directly to individual people! Entertaining , highly engaging and entertaining. His wisdom is teaching me to be more effective, creative and motivating. He constantly reinforces ( you can do it) . Love the membership program. i’ve been a member for almost two years. Money in the bank.
i've been watching your videos for about two years. This year, I bought a home that had a lot of.... "deferred maintenance." I was absolutely not deterred by the damage and work at all. Even though I had Never done the work myself, I have seen you do it for literally days on days.... The inspection report was the stuff of nightmares... Lots of gasps and deep breaths from the inspector and a final comment saying "I hope you're getting a good deal...." Well, 8 months of after my job work, and about $20,000 in materials ($12,000 into roof and foundation) and I'm done. The home appraised for an additional $50,000 above my loan, and I thank your channel for giving me the confidence to go through with the purchase. I cannot say this enough... thank you. I really think your youtube channel has changed the course of my life
I am an addict. I am a 74 year old woman and I don’t think I will be doing any more projects myself. But I have done some tile things and laminate flooring etc and I love you videos! Thank you
Jeff, I appreciate all the videos on your amazing work. In my 47 yrs I've never lift a hammer in my life, but now starting to do my own work in my home, lots of thanks to people like you! I must also say, your videos are far apart from others on this platform because of the little thinks that you cover in details. And your sense of humor is "SPOT ON!"
I use to be a helper renovating bathrooms about 25 years ago and this video helped me get up to date. I'm ready to tackle 3 bathrooms of my own. Thank the
Started watching because I am about to take on a DIY subway tile backsplash job. Funny thing is I couldn't stop watching the entire video and now know how to renovate a bathroom and replace a tub. WOW your video's are so addictive that I just subscribed to your awesome channel. Great teachings!
You are prorbably one of the few people in the world who has made a shitload of money building a hous. That is just so cool, humble guy making UA-cam millions! Nothing but RESPECT!
I found you last month, can't help but bing watch while taking notes. You Enjoy what you teach,💥thats a Gift! February will be 8 years my fight with multiple myeloma but im Fighting and I feel determined to learn and do for myself. No More paying someone else who cuts corners, ending in HalfAss Jobs, simple things like Don't paint over the old imperfections. Yoy are the Professional with Common sense and a Heart! I thank y🙂u Home Renovisiondiy for being part of my Journey! ❤
Jeff, I am so very thankful that I came across your video. I despise my current bathroom. My son had suggested that the renovation I wanted would probably cost around $10K. A recent quote came in at $7K. I'm no professional craftsman. But, I can certainly handle wire cutters, strippers, and compression nuts. I'm not ashamed to totally plagiarize your project. You have demonstrated the project of my dreams. I have already subscribed to your channel, and will most likely join before I start my project next month. Keep doing what you are doing. The tips you share are of a wonderful benefit!
I've never seen a tower like that before. Mind-blowingly beautiful and elegant!! I'm doing my plan for my master suite bath and I watched this 3 times just to write down the million game changing tips you give!! Thank you so very much!!!
I added a shower rod to my bathroom when I first into my house... Didn't realize the tile was porcelain... Spent a solid 45 minutes trying to drill a single hole with the standard tile bit... Then I went and got the porcelain bit and OMG what a difference! The right tool really makes all the difference!
After watching your video on Kurde board I decided to use it for my bathroom remodel. While I know within the depths of my soul it will NEVER leak. It was expensive and a pain in the butt to work with. The board is just to flexible to install on an old wall that isn’t true. It made the tile work much harder. Coming from Salt Lake City Utah. Love your videos buddy
Jeff, I'm a girl and a school teacher, but you are a PROFESSOR in your field and I'd like to learn from you! I'm quite hard to impress, but I'm amazed by your skills, knowledge, and teaching talent. Subscribed.
Just what I'm looking for ... glad the search brought me here. Thanks a million! And always lights should face down to avoid dust accumulating inside fixture, and easier to change bulbs.
Jeff when I start tile like this i set it with support from 1-1/4" roofing nails. I tap them in and I find they don't shift the tile like a screw may. If I need to give a tile a bit of a nudge up I use a wood screw and because the end is tapered the deeper you set it the more it nudges up. But be careful you can chip the tile folks. I have learned to help the tile up a bit as I screw it. I also mark out my mirror like you do and fill in the mirror area with plywood as thick as the tile is, set back a few inches. Then I tile up to the plywood. It saves a huge amount of tile keeping costs down.
I agree 100%. I am my best general contractor. I don't skimp, cut corners or rush to get the job done. I"ve been doing my own thing since forever, whether it's home renovation or auto mechanics. Like you say...it's the stuff you don't see that the contractor may hide from you. When I do the job, I know it was done correctly.
Hi. I've done literally hundreds of bathrooms in my time (Hotels etc. ). For walls, we usually use waterproofed plaster boards. Some places use waterproof wood based boards, but that is uncommon. As a water membrane, we use some paint-ons like that mapei You use, but in corners we add special reinforced rubber tapes. And if You have to be sure that nothing will pass... Just use Deitermann Superflex. That does the job. Always.
Starting demolition on our master bath tomorrow morning, have been watching your videos for weeks now and it’s addictive and I feel like I’m learning a lot that I haven’t found in many other places. First time homeowner, so a bit nervous but excited to get to work! Thanks for all the videos!

Love you videos. They are informative as well as entertaining. I just watched an almost 4 hour video and I am not even remodeling a bathroom. I didn't realize how long it was until the end of it. You give lots of good information that can be used for every day projects or repairs not just just for a remodel. Thanks for the videos!
I have watched tons of DIY and frankly never got them nor enjoyed them. You are amazing! I had just finished watching another video of you and went straight to the next one! Can't sleep because I'm enjoying this so much! It's addictive!
Do it right, by code and correct use of applications, is going to prevent problems that is going cost you much more than your initial efforts and cost. Because material and labour is just going to escalate. Cape Town, South Africa. Great inspiration and in sight, thank you.
We’ve bought a real fixer upper with many, MANY diy surprises. 😱So we’ve been watching your channel regularly for the last few weeks. Great information!!! Funny side note: We’ve loved watching Red Green reruns for years. It just doesn’t get old. There are times that your voice is so similar to Steve Smith’s on that I almost expect the duct tape. 😂
I fully agree - cement board and waterproofing membrane is the way to go! It just makes economical sense by the time you have bought the fancy board and then all the rolls of tape that go with it the bill starts to climb!
Beautiful bathroom renovation my friend! Watching you Drill that pine counter top, I kept thinking "I bet that smells great!" Weird I know, but I love the smell of freshly cut wood! Now I know it's just pine but it's still a fragrant wood!
Jeff when I hang a mirror I set up various wood stacked to get my proper height to set the mirror on. Then I put a few blobs of silicone and lots of painters tape. It snugs the mirror right to the tile and never a risk of it falling during cleaning or whatever.
Your drywall, electrical and basement finishing tutorials have served me so well! Now we are moving, and the only issue we have with the house are the bathrooms. So again I can't thank you enough! You are again going to save me thousands! I really appreciate you and your knowledge.
Its so pleasing to watch your videos. especially after a hard days work to unwind to 😊. you make everything look so easy; gives me courage to diy even if I cant hit a nail straight😁 Thanks for the videos
An excellent video for building a bathroom with so many important information with especially all the details in making it fully waterproof which is so crucial to avoid water and moisture damage.
First of all I watched this at 2am after work and I think I just found my next passion. Thank you it was a blast watching this you and your dad are a inspiration.
This is why the internet was created. I fkn love dis shiiit man” don’t u ever stop. I haven’t even seen this vid yet and I know ur gonna show me ah trick to make $$$$$$” I’m a master electrician and I learn every day. Thanks 🤩
B.T.W. I'm a subscriber and huge fan (as far as UA-cam vids go). Very impressed with this video, and how well your bathroom transformed. You do GREAT work. Please keep the vids coming :) I love that you always think to include the hidden (and invaluable) tips, and don't edit out the mistakes either -- as everyone makes them, and it lets us viewers know ahead of time what we can do to avoid common mistakes even professionals run into themselves while working on a project, (because it's likely that if you do us beginners or amateurs will as well). So, I am just wanting to thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of us. You don't know how helpful these vids have been. I for one really appreciate all your hard work. Thanks!
Good Job on that top, you could also use CA glue to fill the holes in the knots, it will dry transparent and even and no finish will go into it. That way it will conserve the natural look of the knot and will stabilize the knot for future cracking.
What an Art buddy, great work.... thank you for sharing not only what you love doing but, rather your life works, experience, and passion. truly enjoyed the education & knowledge. God bless..
Great video. A few things i'd avoid. 1- Double redirection of water is a no-no; loss of water, more chances of breakage etc 2- The drain for the sink is about a foot away from the wall inlet; proper preplanning may have prevented this and called for in-wall relocation of drain line + I would've kept the P-trap inside the wall
Hi Jeff! Missed the premier but watching now. Want to thank you in advance, just as your kitchen renovation is right ahead of mine, so is this bath video. I actually laid my shoes down Monday and will be back to work framing the walls tomorrow. I’ve never built a bath from scratch so this video is right on target! Thanks again!
thanks for explaining it how the real pros do it. quick, simple, not overly crazy with perfectly measured cuts and just real life useful in-between bits of knolage that others just gloss over(if even mentioned) and I like your subtle jokes haha. some of the best I've found on youtube
OMgoodness! Why don’t you have a TV show? You’re brilliant. This is a movie. Personable, easy to understand, funny, random and most important - educational and instructional! Thank you again. I’ll be sending photos!
Great Tip Vid. When I build or remodel any house project, I watch the associated RenoVision episode, FIRST. I hate doing things twice as well! Thanks for the time and energy you instill within these sessions. You ROCK!
Putting in a second sensor is a great idea in case one fails. What I do is run a line of 1/2" pex from the tstat down into the floor. I router a bit down into the subfloor so the pex sits flush and PL the pex so it stick or cut a bit off the top of the pex and screw it to the floor. Then you can send a new one down with a bit of compressed air should you need to.
Something I discovered for cross braces for water fixters between studs. Is the Kreg, cut my board and drill it for Kreg screws. The advantage is a flush fit, and even in a blind corner, I can still install the screws since they are in the cross board.
Great video! I figured out starting threads backward like you, 35 years ago. Everyone I told over the years, thought I was an idiot. (They don't have to brainpower we do.) ;) Cheers
I was taught, or learned that as a kid, and taught my kids, and they taught their's. It can also get rid of burrs on tap & or dyed connectors without slicing you hands or fingers open, then any burrs you can pick up with a paper towel. I heard the same from a few others over the years ("You're turning it the wrong way"). I thought everyone knew this, then discovered that some people don't know. It's good info to pass on! Saved a lotta injuries, as that's a very common one!
We also have Mapei which is typically used on balconies and in pools although they do have a domestic bathroom waterproofing product. With a teenage son, a teenage daughter, a bonus teenage daughter and a young daughter, I’m probably going to put in the swimming pool/balcony waterproofing because between 4 vain girls/women and one vain boy/man, our bathrooms take a kicking!
I found a hybrid silicone grout product at Home Depot. I used it as the grout on the floor of my walk-in shower. It's working, and yes, red seal and moisture barrier are also under the wood-grain porcelain tile.
i go to bed watching jeffs tutorials. his voice is like hes whispering sweet lullaby's in my ear... thanks jeff :) for the countless nights of peaceful sleep
Hi Jeff! i live in Denmark, in relation to the minimum requirement according to building regulations, there must be a wet room membrane of at least 2mm thickness, if the bathroom is less than 3,25 square meters or with a width of less than 1,3 meters, are all walls covered as a wet zone, and therefore there must be wet room membrane all over the room top to bottom. The wet zone always includes the entire floor in the room, the bottom 10 cm of all walls, walls around the bathtub and washbasin with shower faucet and walls in and around the shower. And as you said overkill would do just fine here, so applying the membrane to the entire walls arround the bathtub would be an good idea. And one has to keep in mind that based on the requirements, there are other requirements for material use that makes it possible to do the work legally based on what was said from the start. And this is only about the wet membrane, the water drain is a hole other story hehe ;-) I love your work.!!!
By sight it looks like the wood counter is not level. I love all your work and have gotten great tips for the small projects I try to do myself. You’re a great teacher👨🏫
Haha. Miss Michele is sending a message...She knows there's chicks out here knowing what kinda guy you are...110% ! BTW, I might not be able to do this myself but ill know if my son is doing it right!! You have THE BEST how to videos ever.
When ever Mr. Thurman says "... this is going to be something sexy..." I get goosebumps. Warm hello from Croatia, Europe to you all in RenoVision team!
I’m in Missouri USA. Trying to help my parents renovate their small 1960’s bathroom on a budget. I’m handy with power tools and have really only primarily done several painting and caulking projects. So I like the idea of the green paintable waterproof membrane! Thank you for detailed diy tutorials. Do you have any video on cheaper diy projects...?

I love how raw and real your videos are. You are a true craftsman. Thank you for your videos. 😊 I learn so much from you.
Jeff,
I am so very thankful that I came across your video. You are seriously AWESOME! I love how honest and what a nice person you are. Very knowledgeable, helpful and funny. Lucky family!
I've never seen a tower like that before. Mind-blowingly beautiful and elegant!! I'm doing my plan for my master suite bath and I watched this 3 times just to write down the million game changing tips you give!! Thank you so very much!!!
You're the best home reno UA-camr out there. I always learn so much watching your videos.
Thanks, Always happy to help!
I just said the same thing lol I binge watch his videos lol
Haven’t even watched it yet. *Sees that it’s over three hours of content* Instant thumbs up.
Cheers Allen a real updated version of how to do a nice bathroom on the cheap!
That tile is flippin beautiful!

I could watch stuff like this all day. So satisfying!
have you seen our other channel, reality renovision?

Glad I could help!
Do it right, by code and correct use of applications, is going to prevent problems that is going cost you much more than your initial efforts and cost. Because material and labour is just going to escalate. Cape Town, South Africa. Great inspiration and in sight, thank you.
Cheers to South Africa!
He’s not the one to watch
I fully agree - cement board and waterproofing membrane is the way to go! It just makes economical sense by the time you have bought the fancy board and then all the rolls of tape that go with it the bill starts to climb!
Its crazy that this amount of information is available for free. Thanks!
U.S.A. Florida - I like the paint on water barrier. Just seems so easy. Easy to apply, easy to clean up.
Great tutorials, the best I have seen in a while. I will be doing my bathroom very soon so I really appreciate this detailed tutorial. Well done!
Beautiful bathroom renovation my friend! Watching you Drill that pine counter top, I kept thinking "I bet that smells great!" Weird I know, but I love the smell of freshly cut wood! Now I know it's just pine but it's still a fragrant wood!
Pine is heavenly stuff!
Jeff when I hang a mirror I set up various wood stacked to get my proper height to set the mirror on. Then I put a few blobs of silicone and lots of painters tape. It snugs the mirror right to the tile and never a risk of it falling during cleaning or whatever.

THIS VIDEO IS LIKE GOING TO COLLEGE OF HARD KNOCKS.OF 'HOW-TO' ANY PROJECTS, THANKS, JEFF THORMAN.
Good Job on that top, you could also use CA glue to fill the holes in the knots, it will dry transparent and even and no finish will go into it. That way it will conserve the natural look of the knot and will stabilize the knot for future cracking.
Great tip!
As soon as Jeff told me to grab a cup of coffee, I paused the video and went out to grab a cup. Lol this is my favorite youtube channel!
Concerning the tile work, you got to love it when a job works out like that! So much time saved on cuts. Love your videos by the way.
lol when you said cup of coffee, maybe two. lmfaoooo just remembered me walking down the stairs yesterday with two cups of coffee for myself
Thank you so much for your videos. They have saved my life. I've used your videos for so many home projects!
Your bathroom is beautifully done, as expected.
BY FAR THE BEST DIY CHANNEL ON UA-cam.
I cannot thank you enough for these videos! You’re my fav!
You are our man Jeff. Thank you ....
What an Art buddy, great work.... thank you for sharing not only what you love doing but, rather your life works, experience, and passion. truly enjoyed the education & knowledge. God bless..
I’ve never built a bath from scratch so this video is right on target! Thanks again!
You’re such a bad ass - and I like your sense of humor it makes learning from you fun
I think I'm ready! Thanks for such complete instructions. Plus, you laugh and make me more comfortable.
Thank you for the video. It saved me time.
Probably one of my top five favorite yt content creators ever!! So much invaluable information
Great video. A few things i'd avoid.
1- Double redirection of water is a no-no; loss of water, more chances of breakage etc
2- The drain for the sink is about a foot away from the wall inlet; proper preplanning may have prevented this and called for in-wall relocation of drain line + I would've kept the P-trap inside the wall
These videos are my favorite thing to watch while I sip my coffee in the morning, so chill and entertaining, plus I learn from the best
I love that Jeff has decked out his bathroom, the bathroom is sick looking and your videos are awesome and have good information
Hi Jeff! Missed the premier but watching now. Want to thank you in advance, just as your kitchen renovation is right ahead of mine, so is this bath video.
You ROCK!
Cheers Matt, happy to help!
Love your channel! Refer to it every time I am about to begin a project and continue from start to finish.
Can't believe I just spent ~4 hours watching this video. It's really interesting to watch 🤩
Australia - we use ‘water resistant - aqua check - drywall and then paint on membrane with mesh or tape over joins and corners
Have not watched in a few month,,,,,,still the best.....
I found a hybrid silicone grout product at Home Depot. I used it as the grout on the floor of my walk-in shower. It's working, and yes, red seal and moisture barrier are also under the wood-grain porcelain tile.
Dude, I love your videos... you’re so informative and in detail, keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks Daniel, happy to share! cheers!
i go to bed watching jeffs tutorials. his voice is like hes whispering sweet lullaby's in my ear... thanks jeff :) for the countless nights of peaceful sleep
So happy to see this video. We have our Master Bath and Bedrom to renovate. This gives me the encouragement needed to DIY the project. Thank you!
Hi Jeff! i live in Denmark, in relation to the minimum requirement according to building regulations, there must be a wet room membrane of at least 2mm thickness, if the bathroom is less than 3,25 square meters or with a width of less than 1,3 meters, are all walls covered as a wet zone, and therefore there must be wet room membrane all over the room top to bottom.
Genious. I spent my entire night watching this. Call me addicted! Thanks.
When ever Mr. Thurman says "... this is going to be something sexy..." I get goosebumps.
Warm hello from Croatia, Europe to you all in RenoVision team!
YOU "RE SO GOOD AT MAKING IT LOOK EASY! LOVE IT!
A lot of humor makes the work goes on well, good tutorial
Strippers are a part of every electricians life! Good tip
I cannot get over how nice that tile is 😍😍
It was an expensive product per sq ft but in such a small space adds the perfect element for some wow factor! Cheers!
