Could watch this over and over and will!!Black Velvet perfect for music!!! All the best shots of Austin. Thank you so much!! Breaks my heart everyday he worked so hard and deserved that Oscar and passed over.
This song has made my blood hot, and my head pound since it first came out, in 1990. At that time it just made you sad for what we had lost and long for the wonder and feeling of “those days”. Then, a year ago we got those feelings again. Baz and Austin gave them to us to relive. And it wasn’t feelings about just Elvis. It was feelings about Austin. New and strong feelings to treasure. This song and video are just perfect. Thank you.😄🎶🥰
You perfectly described my exact thoughts…thank you! I grew up listening to 50’s and 60’s Elvis and watched all his movies with my older siblings at the drive-in theater. I’m not ashamed to say that this baby-boomer mom of two 30-something aged men is now obsessed with Austin Butler, the multi-talented actor and such a kindhearted person. His portrayal of Elvis was magical, emotional, and mesmerizing…it reminded me of the pure joy I experienced watching Elvis years ago.
@@micamacher6230 I loved your comment, especially about being a mom to 30+ year old men, but being obsessed with Austin. I’m older than you are. I was kind of shocked at myself and the feeling I’m LOVING as I watch Austin, read about him, and keep track of what’s next for him. (I say we’re women, we’re alive, and we can smile and enjoy him. He IS a wonderful young man;talented, grateful, humble, kind. I just like all that about him. As do you.) If I had given birth to a baby when I was 18, and SHE had given birth when she was 18, I would have been 36 with a grandbaby. I COULD be Austin’s grandmother. And he’s talked about how he learned about Elvis from his grandma who loved his records. I was a few years too young to care about “pre Army” Elvis. I was 12 when The Beatles came to America. So I was ALL IN on the early 60s groups. I was in college, 1970, before I really got interested in Elvis’s songs…then I kind of worked backwards. 😊
If Austin Butler did nothing in his creative career but play Elvis emotionally and musically to perfection --- to an extent of giving the audience even more of the inner man's essence than Elvis himself had been able openly to show --- he'd be a shining star forever. This youtube helps convey that! So big thanks.❤ Also Austin Butler does so much more. And keeps on doing it. Just saw The Bikeriders, 6-25-24, a second time in theater. It, and AB in it, got even better on second viewing. So many layers to his performance, lots of it wordless yet visually mesmerizing. Also love work of dir. Jeff Nichols and rest of cast and crew. Felt the same about Dune 2 despite its far vaster blockbuster scale. AB is both a movie star in commanding screen presence and a brilliant actor. He is talented and gorg, and then he works diligently to develop the richness of each specific character. He reminds me in acting believability conveyed on screen of Daniel Day-Lewis (who was also romantically hot in The Last of the Mohicans, on my top 10 movie list along with '22 Elvis). Character actors by aptitude who are physically hot can pick leading roles where their screen lives include a bit of romance for the fanbase without being typecast into romcoms. Big screen romantic fantasy along with action and mystery puts people in theater seats in a streaming world. Please let it be so for AB!
I still am disgusted that the academy snubbed the movie and totally robbed Austin of the once in a lifetime Oscar performance and the best acting performance of the year. I know Ramni did a good job playing Freddie but his performance was nothing compared to the performance Austin pur on the screen and Austin also did his own singing playing instruments and full on stage performances. I'm not saying Ramni didn't deserve his win but it just goes to show toy how much Austin was robbed. But today I read where he was voted one of Times 100 most influential people of 2022. Too bad the academy didn't appreciate what most of the world did. I am also hoping he wins the MTV movie award for best movie performance as well.
I totally agree! I think because everyone expected Austin to win and wanted Austin to win the academy did that on purpose as a power play! Catherine Martin's costumes were amazing and the cinematography was great. Of course the Director was awesome!mOst people were shocked . I don't mean to take anything away from Brendan Frasier but I think he was shocked when he won as well as everyone else
Yes I agree too. Plus I thought Brendan did a good job in the role and probably the best of his career but it wasn't the best performance of the year. I'm with you it's no offense it is just honest. I know probably 100 actors could have played thatpart as well. But I honestly don't know any actor who could have accomplished what Austin did . It wasn't like you were watching an impersonator it was like Elvis himself on the screen walking you through his life. I agree with the snubbs with the movie as well was disgraceful. Then giving hair and make up to the Whale again no offense but I believe almost every other movie nominated had more to deal with in that category then what the Whale had to deal with. The Oscars used to be honorable and anymore it's a joke.
This is crazy! After Elvis came out, you could see just how perfectly they captured the essence of Elvis in Black Velvet. I love it!

This song, that man. PERFECT. Lord have mercy, on all of us. My first introduction to Mr. Austin Butler as Elvis.

I made a comment before but I hope Austin Butler sees this video! I think he would be so proud!! I can't stop watching this awesome video!!
