    I really like the compilation, there is a lot to learn from it. You asked if we had any other ideas to add to the kit. I would consider taking a Sun Sleeves arm. That way you would protect your arm from sunburn, plus you would be able to cool yourself better during the day if you kept it watered, and at night it would give you a little insulation. In the Balkans, you can expect extreme heat during the day.
    I would take a Nitecore NB1000 instead of the Anker 5000 powerbank. It has 2x the capacity but only 150 grams, very thin and strong, fits in the top tube bag. You can never run out of power, I've learned that. 😀
    Albion gear is really good, especially the vest, very practical.
    I wish you a good trip and a great time on the TCR!

    Maybe you can replace your butyl spare tube with a TPU one, saves not only weight but especially space! Even two TPU tubes are smaller and lighter than a single butyl tube.

    • @gggentii
      @gggentii Місяць тому +4

      Cannot recommend. Coming of an ultra right know it was impossible to get new spare tubes and having the TPU with no means of fixing it is a ticking time bomb. Butyl can be fixed anywhere in the world (even yourself).
      It's good for as long you stay in countries you know your way around.
      Added problem. I had Schwalbe aerothan, valve broke after 250km. Then replaced with Tubolito, lastet only 80km (probably my fault).

    • @nickyburnell
      @nickyburnell Місяць тому +1

      Tpu are a lottery even new. Quality control is poor from all countries and finding a puncture to patch at side of road....nope

    • @Buzzalong.cycling
      @Buzzalong.cycling  Місяць тому +5

      Yes, I did not have a good experience with TPU I prefer to carry more reliable tubes and compromise in this regard on weight because I can patch them easy, specially if I am cycling in remote areas gives me piece of mind

    I have a very similar setup on my Roubaix SL8 too!
    Figured I could give a few pointers:
    3:38 your neck is clearly strained as the aerobars are too far forward for you. Perhaps the best thing to fix this is to make sure seat is slammed as far forwards as possible( could change seat posts that have forward lean)
    I have the same wheels but with 50mm depth, aero benefits > weight
    Mount your bike computer flat to reduce frontal profile
    Consider also dropping some stack from the bars to get more aero? Or if they dont support that go negative angled stem

OK, steel frame, aerobars, Rohloff gears and Carbon belt drive, so I'll never have to set, wash or touch anything for the next 20'000km!!! But as I'm myself over 91kg and not competing, but just having fun on my bike, I really don't care about this weight.

    I give You a tip.For free.Never, ever keep your cell in side cargo pocket during ride.Why? Cell weight is about 250g.You do about 80/90 rpm.So it means Your leg must up about 21kg every minute.Then multiply it for an hour and You get over 1000kg. And multiply by hours a day.

    • @ricobohm7781

      So, that math is wildely inacurate. First of all, you cant just add weight like that and use it as a measurement of exertion. Secondly all the weight you need to push up on the upstroke also exists on the downstroke, thus basically pulling your leg down and negating any extra effort you put in on the upstroke. I guess you could argue that its not good to have that extra weight on only one side, but the weight is so little and high up on the leg, it creates miniscule amount of torque.
      I will conced the point that it puts your phone at risk during a crash, but otherwise dont sweat over carrying your phone on the leg

    • @austinsnow197
      @austinsnow197 13 днів тому

      @@ricobohm7781 ok. Try to get extra 250g on one leg and pedal 3 days for 12H a day. Then we can talk about. You will feel then if both legs are "the" same. If I am wron why they pro cycling shoes are so light?

    • @ricobohm7781
      @ricobohm7781 13 днів тому

      @@austinsnow197Im not saying wheight doesnt exist. 250g are still 250g and some people would argue that rotating weight is especially important, hence why light shoes make sense (in that way you could argue the phone adds to the inertia of the leg, but i dont think we want to go there). But in general light stuff on the bike is light because its easier to accelerate and go up hills. I wasnt trying to suggest weight is unimportant, my point is that the weight on your leg isnt any more important, than elsewhere and that you calculations where faulty or rather not applicable in this context. Otherwise you are of course free to do as you please and as the other commenter suggested, if only for the reason of protecting your phone and leg in a crash, its probably not that wise to keep your phone on your leg. :)
