    MJ has some things in his resume that ain't in the stats that basically turned him into a, not just NBA, but a sports God. Leading 1 team to 2 three peats and really never letting the fans down when he was fully revved up. Lebron has some stinkers fully revved up. The stat totals won't tell you that story. He also never really required offensive help to save him in multiple series, you can see that in the stats, but you really gotta look hard. Lebrons greatness comes and goes based on his teammates offensive help

      What was considered "legacy " talk back then was not winning a chip, but Back to Back chips. Then a team can say that for a period of time, they had a dynasty. Not sure if this is common knowledge but I will put it out here because it goes to the whole "LeBron makes his teammates better" bullshit. The year before joining the Heat in 2009-2010, DWade was 5th in ppg, 10th in apg and 5th in spg. Had a VORP of #2 in the league. Chris Bosh was 9th in ppg, 6th in rpg and finished 12th in MVP voting. In 2013-2014 (year before joining the Cavs) Kevin Love was 4th in ppg, 3rd in rpg and 3rd in VORP. Kyrie Irving was 14th in ppg, 13th in apg, 13th in FT% and was all star game MVP. In 2018-2019 year before joining LA, Anthony Davis was 9th in ppg, 8th in rpg, 2nd in bpg. 2020-2021, year before joining LA, Russell Westbrook was 6th in rpg, 1st in apg and 19th in VORP.
    There have been a plethora of other players to join LeBron over the years and had the same problem. He didnt know how to maximize these great teammates. Almost all these players roles were diminished or altered in a bad way. He could never just dominate the league from start to finish. He needed and got a lot of help. In 2012 Finals, he got 35 3 pointers from bench/role players. Thats 7 a game in 2012 was unreal. In 2013 Finals, he got 51 3 pointers from bench role/players, which is over 7 per game.
    In 2016 Finals, he got 27.1 ppg from his sidekick and in 2020, he got 25 ppg and 10.7 rpg, and 2 bpg in the bubble. So essentially it takes this kind of help for him to win. Just sad people overlook these things, and i can show them the 1997 playoffs where 1 player had more than 8 ppg for the entire playoffs. Just unheard of lack of help for a championship team

    I think one thing that gets left out of the conversation regarding MJ is TIMING. He was the perfect person, with the perfect game, attitude, persona, charisma, style, work ethic, attention to detail, intangibles and relentless will to win at the right time....MJ WAS THE PERFECT STORM FOR THE NBA. The league needed someone to take over and become the FACE after the MAGIC AND BIRD era...MJ came in at the PERFECT TIME and took over. Let's remember they were other great players at that time as well who just weren't the PERFECT BLEND that MJ was.
    Think about this example for a moment: Would Kobe (May he continue to R.I.Paradise) had been born 10 years earlier and had been in the prime era of MJ...would he have been the KOBE MAMBA MENTALITY BRYANT we now know him as? He would of been still great in my opinion but without MJ as his blueprint and his rival he doesn't have the same outcomes he had. Sometimes what makes one great is TIMING...AGAIN MJ WAS THE PERFECT STORM!! Carry On...

Yes, the media and many fans left him and abandoned him, and him and his family took a HUGE hit...especially his marriage. But, he went to ANOTHER LEVEL because with guys who are wired mentally like Kobe and MJ the worse thing to do is give them SOMETHING TO PROVE AND A CHIP ON THEIR SHOULDER. Kobe took that situation and turned into DA MAMBA...and the world has been better for it.

    I think what many people miss or misunderstand about Michael Jordan are three (3) things:
    1. He took any criticisms of any (perceived) Weaknesses and made them new Strengths. Not for public approval, but for himself.
    2. He was a good in the clutch - NOT because he made clutch shots - but because he played to ensure that Clutch Shots would be an option to win. He didn’t like losing and did not accept consecutive failures. Clutch shots only happen when games are close. The fact that he was a “clutch shooter” is small in comparison to the work he put into 4th quarters to make them significant.
    3. He wasn’t built or born naturally talented in basketball. [see #1] He practiced like a man possessed. And he actually wanted fierce competition to test himself against.
    To “Be Like Mike” is to spend your life in the gym and making practices WAR.

    • @IkeThe9th
      @IkeThe9th 9 місяців тому +1

      @@casiemny1219 That’s the misunderstanding I’m talking about - and its especially important for young kids (like my son) to learn this lesson.
      There are a great deal of people his size and can palm a basketball like he can. Many can play well. Some are really good. A few - less than 1% - will make it to the NBA.
      He may have been built to play basketball, but no one is built to be great. MJ was cut from his high school basketball team. So, numbers #1, 2 & 3 all tie together. Maybe I could have worded it differently, but “no one is built to be GREAT” was my point.

    The thing that made Jordan so great was the fact that he could do everything without being the primary ball handler. In today's game you have to have the ball to be able to play which takes away from other players on the team. If you're the 3rd star on a team with Jordan you'll get the ball and be able to play your normal game. The Lakers had Kareem, Magic , and Worthy, the all worked well together, everyone was involved and they consistently won. LeBron's 3rd option is sitting over in the corner excluded from the offense like Chris Bosh or Kevin Love. They were still good but couldn't play their normal game. People forget how Love was averaging 26 pts 12 rebs per game in Minnesota. Nothing wrong with being the 3rd option if you can still play your game but he was in the corner shooting 3s when he was mainly playing in the post. I know he won a title with LeBron but the fact that he was left high and dry stuck in Cleveland had to make him feel used.

  • @reesemccloud
    @reesemccloud 8 місяців тому +2

    Yeah, that Cain and Abel reference is the greatest analogy for this situation. I just said a day or so ago, that Mike made Scottie. Made him join the breakfast club. To get him stronger and mentally prepared for war. He didn’t go grab a player that was number one on his team or an all out all star. Rodman was an outcast from his team. Jordan made him fall in line and gave him the confidence to just go out and do what you do best. They also let him be himself. That takes a LEADER. Scottie was great, but Mj made him believe that. You see what happened when the leader left…”I got a migraine” “I ain’t going back in the game, cause that play should be for me”. LeBron manufactured his rings. Let me get a player who already just won a championship. Let me also grab an all star, number one player on his team, in Toronto. Then Ray Allen won them that one chip, Kyrie won him the 3rd chip and do we really count the intramural bubble gum one? Come on man. LeBron claiming he’s the GOAT cause of more points, and coming back from 3-1? Against a Draymond less Golden State??? That’s your indictment for being the GOAT?? Not even close to MJ

    Look Bro, you broke the real down so truthfully about Bron's defensive disappearance, it's unreal. Kobe is undoubtedly GOAT #2, because of his SEASONAL defense to match his offensive output. Bron RARELY, RARELY ever had the defensive output in the playoffs, especially against Dallas. You had more input accuracy as to the coaching and GMing aspects of the game than most former players. Big ups to you brother, keep doing what you're doing. You're heating up the PodCast game. Thanks.

    Jordan is like this, everytime i step on the court its my last game. So let me give everything to this game on every game. And the thing that really gets me is that he played better in the playoffs and finals than the refular season. Jordan played the game within the game. Evey shoe jordan has worn has a classic moment attached to it. He earned his spot...period. did not jump team to team, but perseverance is everything. And when he got to the finals he never lost. Never a game 7 in the finals and only one game 7 in 1998 against the Pacers. Plus Jordan was so confident in that series he told yall"they got to come through Chicago." Cmon son, plus Jordan was so nasty you could hit him in mid air and he would switch up and still make the shot. The "And one" came from him after so many shots made after the foul. Never seen a player like him exact before and after. Kobe is the only one who came close and he got 5 championships. Its a out focus, i dont want to be your friend i want to win. For crying out loud Jordan did a commercial with Mia Hamm"Anything you can do i can do better" says it all. Jordannis a true warrior untouched. Plus Jordan was underpaid his whole career until the 1998 season, in which THE LEAGUE demanded that he be paid his worth. So, Jordan played with less money because he loves the game. Ive never seen a player that not only won championships but every story you hear non NBA that he played ball he still won, there is footage as well. Im rolling with Jordan 84 and beyond. G.O.A.T, no question. Because he was the "X" factor in every championship , meaning he was the difference maker in all championships. The MVP of all his championships

    Clutchness becoming a major part of the game started with Magic and Bird. Jordan took it further. He has repeatedly said, Magic and Bird were the ones he aspired to. He saw what made them what they were. Relentless competitors, hard workers at all times, steel focus, wanting to beat the best, fundamental based, killer instincts, etc. Mike says it all began with them for him. Joyce from The Bronx
    I disagree with Mr. Sharpe on the blueprint. I'm a child of the 1960s. Oscar Robertson and Bill Russell (11/13 Championships) were the blueprint for African-Americans in sports, all businesses and life. They were fitted too but on a much lower budget, no marketing or brands.😂
    What they did then made all this possible for ALL players today.
    It's a shame there aren't enough films on The Rucker from back then. Connie Hawkins, Dr. J, and MJ brought some of that athleticism and creativity to the NBA. It was curtailed because whites couldn't do it.
    MJ came at the right time, did the right things the right way with flair and is debonair! He has the winner mentality of Russell, fundamentals of Oscar, athleticism of Hawkins, Earl the Goat Manigault and other Rucker greats.

      Even though he wasn’t a proven coach yet (1989 when he became head coach), he had THAT and Tex Winter with his Triangle to make Jordan, and the players Bulls had acquired, into a championship caliber team!

      Phil was coaching in Puerto Rico before the Bulls hired him as an assistant. Doug Collins had the Bulls in the ECF the year before Phil took over as head coach. That year, the Bulls were the only team to register wins against the Pistons through their entire playoff run. They took the Pistons to 6 games. The Pistons swept every other team, including the Lakers in the finals. Phil got them to the ECF again the next year against the Pistons and took them to 7 games but lost. People keep acting like the Bulls did a complete 180 and couldn't win until Phil became the coach. Phil was a great coach, but he acquired an already ascending team.

      @@IVOT618 Thanks for jogging my feeble memory (getting old😁).
      You’re indeed correct! I had forgotten about him coaching in my native island of PR! I also remembered that he had won a Championship as a head Coach in the CBA!
      I do still hold to “not proven” in the NBA as a Coach, though.
      You are also correct that Doug Collins had started (with Jordan & other draftees/trades) to turn the team around. But, Jackson by that time was already Collins’ assistant (1987), along with Tex… so both actually helped in the reshaping of the team and it’s destiny. Most of the iconic moments of that winning trend (I.e., “The Shot” in Cleveland) that gets replays on YT also show Jackson/Winter on the sidelines. Just that Collins would not commit to the Triangle.
      When Collins was fired, Jackson, as head coach now, immediately instituted Tex’s Triangle offense, and the proverbial “rest is history!”

    The other thing which MJ had that I don't think we will ever see again is his amazing hands. And its not just that they were big...other players have had huge hands. But, like everything else with Mike, he took a natural gift that he had and developed it to do totally unnatural looking things. Nobody handles the ball like MJ (not talking about "handles" as a bball term, but literally the way he could hold, shoot, move the ball, etc., with one hand). MJ was brilliant at turning natural gifts into almost supernatural attributes.

  • @kobekane
    @kobekane 10 місяців тому +1

    It's not about LeBron not being capable of making the shot, because he can make the shot. The problem comes with the fact that you don't know if he's even going to look to score during these clutch moments. When it's tied, he shoots 90% of the time. Unless it's a catch and shoot situation, when they're down, half the time LeBron is looking to drive and kick it to someone else to shoot.
    They say it's the right play but the 3pt shot is a 35% shot... It's about a 24% shot with the shot clock about to expire. At the end of the game, a 3pter is about a 17% shot. So if you have a chance to win or lose a game with one shot, are you going to go into the huddle and convince somebody that going for a 17% shot is your best opportunity to win the game?... Even if it was still the average 35% shot that it's been since the '90s, are you going to convince your coach, down 1 or 2 with less than 10 seconds to go, your best scoring option is having your best player drive and kick to a lesser player for a 35% shot.
