Jordan checked one Magic Johnson in his first finals game in '91. Led the league in steals as he's scoring 30+ ppg, & was the best shot blocking guard ever - because only Mike had that kind of bounce to be a secondary rim protector from the 2!
I've found that people who discredit previous eras to push their preferred narratives are MASTERS at moving the goal post. "He wasn't a great defender. Only had 1 dpoy. Well define great defender! 60% of the league today are great defenders! ..."
& That's where I hit pause. Don't like punching down at other regular basketball fans, but that's absurd on soo many levels.

I love that argument! 😂 Dude you have to respect height and greatness still! Magic was simply bigger and he was COLD! 😂😂😂 But when they switched to a bigger Pip, Mike was in them passing lanes!!! Of course it’s hard to guard anyone bigger than you, but he couldn’t guard him either AND he picked his passes!…besides Magic will tell you! 🤣🤣👍✌️✌️✌️

Jordan was always playing the weak link on defense. He was a glorified help defender that's how he got all them steals because he didn't respect the bum he was checking which is why he was crying about scottie pippen taking his surgery when he did. Jordan had to do more and they lost more while pippen was out. The games were closer. Scottie was checking the best player every night. So Jordan can concentrate on offense. Yall got to stop it. The east was really weak once bird and isauh was done

I agree, 100% with Rod Strickland Jordan is the goat because of the way he dominated his era and the DC dude was Trippin the point he was trying to make was he doesn’t like the way people praise Jordan like he’s God which no one was doing that in the first place and any logical Jordan fan know he struggled in the beginning of his career, in the 80s because he had a trash team, going up against Hall of Fame teams, and players, but he overcame it by working hard and not giving up and that’s why we respect him and his game And it’s funny to hear Paul Pierce call Jordan his goat again, because right after LeBron broke the all-time scoring record, he was on that same show, saying LeBron is the goat now but I know if it’s gonna happen a lot of former players was gonna say this because of the moment, but once that died down, reality comes back, and he realized Jordan is still the goat he was just caught up in the moment like a lot of people and players were 🤷🏽‍♂️🤣

Rodman was not in his prime from 96-98. These the same folks that claimed this man was _old_ when the Bulls swept the Pistons, but he was somehow not old & in his prime in the second threepeat? 🤔.
Rodman was a great player and deserving of the Hall of Fame without question, but they like to distort reality to build their cases for X player (no need to say a name).
Lastly, the first caller claimed there weren't a lot of "MJ's" in the league. First, you're right. There wasn't another MJ & there will never be another. Now, check the top 20 all-time leaders in points, rebounds, assists, steals, & blocks and let me know what you find 😉.

Jordan's last sequence in a Bulls uniform was a perfect culmination of his career and summary of who he was as a player. The lay up, the steal, and then the jumper to seal the game. He had the defensive instincts, and his IQ was very high. You 41:55 should listen to Jeff Van Gundys interview about Jordan.

17:25 Magic and Kareem, yup it's very normal to have around 2 stars or superstars on a championship caliber team. And let's be real here, the Bulls only had ONE superstar. Pippen was an all-star AT BEST in that entire era.
Edit: LeBron NEVER had a dominant era, especially when compared to Jordan. In comparison, LeBron was building an impressive resumé, while Jordan was displaying sheer dominance.

The first player I really tried to emulate on the basketball court was Hakeem olajuwon because I was taller even at 63 then most people so that dream shake around the basket worked like a charm! I felt like I was cheating so I would stop doing it after a a few buckets. I wanted to model my game after Michael Jordan but I wasn't good enough to do the stuff he was doing so I felt Hakeem olajuwon was more grounded in the skills I had. As time went on I started to emulate Michael Jordan more and more and I became great with the fade away and the circus shots around the basket..

Pippen is the same dude that took himself out a game 7 ECF against the Pistons in 90 with a migraine. He also refused to go in a ECF semifinals game in 94 because Phil Jackson drew up the game winner for Toni Kukoc who hit the game winner by the way. Pip had his shots at leadership under adverse conditions and came up small and it’s hurt his legacy. Isiah has been salty since Mike came in the league and got instant attention as well as being beloved in Thomas’s home city.

The bulls worked around Jordan and pippen. Everyone else played their roles. I am not diminishing Rodman by any means he was one of the greatest rebounders and defenders ever, but that’s a specialist. Ron Harper played pretty much the first quarter, few minutes in the second and third and the last 6 of the fourth if it was close. He was an all around good player. Kerr would come in as a 3pt specialist, Randy brown as a defensive specialist. But everyone on that team had their roles and played them perfectly. They were built as a team, not this ridiculous I need more superstars, iso ball, no defense, turnover, flop league it is.

Jordan I believe avg. over 30 against more than half the existing teams in the league of the 90s. I don’t even think the next person they claim to be the goat has even done that.

MJ has the better career… Basketball is about winning and how you win… The way MJ career went it had its ups and downs overcoming failure.. Never cheating the grind or process. Dominating individually & team wise. He became the standard for most professional basketball players.. Mastered the Shooting Guard position from every aspect.

About MJ defence. He was an all time defender before the first retirement. When he came back you saw a drop in steals and blocks but he was still a great defender, but not like his younger days

That defense caller was really hard to listen to. Asking who the best defender is is just like asking best scorer. Are we talking about 3pt? Dunking? Post game?
    Steals? Blocks? Rebounding? Slipping screens?
There are levels and aspects to consider.

Man, DC slim making my city look bad. I don't know if this guy played, given someone the points he made. Being born in DC and going to a school like Bishop McNamara ( in my conference is schools like Archbishop Carroll, DeMatha, Gonzaga, Paul VI and more), defense was stressed the 1st time I got on the court. That said, when you talk defense, it's more than on ball. It's learning the zone tactics, manning passing lanes, understanding a players weaknesses, whether it be ballhandling, dribbling, shooting, or athleticism. If you know a player's weakness and you don't have to work that hard, that just means you're better and have done your homework. It doesn't lessen how good you are as a player. As the caller said, Jordan never had a big 3 or a dominant big man, not even a dominant power forward. That in and of itself shows the depth of his skills. Chocolate city DC all day from Lenny Bias to Quinn Cook.

MJ was always playing help D in the paint against other bigs because he tried to help make up for the smallness of their lineup. Not knowing where MJ would be added a level of rushed shots in the paint…Jordan at times baited bugs into coming his way.

When people ask me why I have Lebron outside of my top 40 all time, this is one of the reasons why smh
Dude literally NEEDS his own Sports Agency to poach players & hurt other teams, he NEEDS to stack the deck with super teams, he NEEDS 2 or more All Stars & HOF help, he NEEDS all of these trades every year, he NEEDS the media to spin false narratives & not critic his antics & failures, he NEEDS to be in the weaker conference, he NEEDS to go against weaker teams, he NEEDS the Refs/League to Rig things in his favor and let him get away with all of these illegal things that he is doing, he NEEDS bailouts from Refs/League, he NEEDS PED’s etc etc all for him to be competitive 😂 smh
