- This is my first spring in my new home, gardening in zone 6b. I'm excited to share what we've been doing to grow our own food and feed our family. Join me for a tour of the vegetable garden, flower beds, and tea garden.
When you see your seedlings pop out of the soil 🤌🏻 top tier.
Right!? You get it.
You and your husband are doing an incredible job. Everything is looking so lovely! It’s exciting to watch it all come together.
My father-in-law threw soon potatoes in the edge of a mulch pile one year. He was surprised with lots of potatoes!
Have a great week!
Thanks! It has definitely taken more time than I expected to build towards our plans/dreams for our little homestead, but I feel like we're getting some momentum now, and that makes me optimistic. I hope I'm as successful as your father-in-law with those potatoes 😆 A great week to you, too!
Wow your garden beds look great. One thing that may help the cabbages is covering them with row cover. That will keep the cabbage moths from laying their eggs on them. I have a few thing planted. My greenstalk has cabbages and some basil and parsley. I have peas and garlic in another area. I have strawberries in a long wooden box that I recycled. So much more to do though! I can’t wait to see your chickens in their new coop! Thanks Marta!😊
Lots more to do over here, too! I have to keep reminding myself that I’m doing this for fun….if something doesn’t get done, it’s fine 😅. I haven’t seen cabbages grown in the green stalk; I’m curious to see how they’ll do. Row cover sounds good. I think I’ll give it a try. Thanks!
I really enjoy your garden tours. My mother in law used to cook the beet tops. She parboiled them first and drained them. She then put them in a skillet, using bacon fat, cooking them until they were done. I recalled they were mild and tasted similar to cooked spinach.
Thanks! I’m a fan of anything cooked in bacon grease. I harvested a few beets last year and meant to eat the greens, but they ended up going bad in the fridge before I got to them, so this is the year.
You have a nice size garden. New friend here. Showing you support. Thanks for sharing your garden with us. Have a blessed day
Thanks so much! I hope you have a blessed day, too 😊
Beautiful garden! TFS
Thank you so much!
Rau của bạn bị sâu phá hoại rồi ,ngày nghỉ an lành bạn thân mến .
Thank you! I had cabbage worms last year, so I bet they're back. I'll keep treating with BT.
Lovage will get enormous! My plant grows to over 6 feet each year!
WRT birds eating berries, the trick is to learn the point where the berry is almost ripe but not ripe enough for the birds and slugs liking.
Good to know! Slugs were not on my radar as a possible threat to my strawberries. It seems like there are a lot of little critters that like those sweet berries.
