      Well, it worked. Both because you were clearly pointing at this or that bit of face you were naming, and didn't care if you were fully made-up. Which would only have obscured things anyway. Good job!

    This is a very romantic thought and probably completely wrong, but when I heard "silmä" the first thing I thought of were the Silmarils. So maybe Tolkien thought of some beautiful eyes when he came up for a name for those jewels...? It's not as preposterous as it seems, after all when he fashioned one of the Elvish languages, Quenya, he used Finnish as a model (and Welsh for Sindarin)...

    You have probably answered this question too many times, but, I do not have time to read every post. So, do your fellow citizens in Finland, think you have an "accent"? Your English is so spot-on, it passes for Michigan, mid-western English. You actually speak English, like a mid-western American, with zero accent! Do you accomplish the same, when at home in Finland? Or do the locals, detect an accent?

    • @KatChatsFinnish
      @KatChatsFinnish  5 років тому +1

      In Finnish? Based on my accent no - people would assume I'm native.

    Hello,
    First, thanks for your videos, they're most helpful to get basic knowledge in Finnish.
    I have a question regarding kulmakarva. Plural is kulmakarvat, but when you say kaksi kulmakarvaa, the ending is different. Why ?

    • @KatChatsFinnish
      @KatChatsFinnish  5 років тому

      Um just from my intuition without looking into the rules, kulmakarvat would be more like "the eyebrows" and kaksi kulmakarvaa is "two eyebrows" Basically anything you count so when you have a number in front you use the -a ending, so kolme kulmakarvaa, sata kulmakarvaa and it would be the same for other words. Hmm maybe I can dig deeper and make a video on it so it's more clear xD

    Hey sorry offtopic! Mut ois kiva jos voisit jeesaa!
    Etkö sä opiskellu just psykologiaa? Ite oon kattellu jos alkais opiskelemaan psykaa ulkomailla, kun Suomessa on tosi vaikea päästä psykalle sisään. Tiedätkö pääseekö ulkomaille opiskelemaan psykaa huonommallakin todistuksella? Ja miten ylipäätänsä se prosessi menee? Joutuuko lentää pääsykokeisiin ulkomaille vai häh :D Suomessahan n. 50% pääsee sisään pelkällä pääsykokeella, mitenhän toi ulkomailla menee. Ja puhun nyt siis ihan suoraan opiskelun aloittamisesta ulkomailla, ei mistään vaihtari-jutuista :)
    Toiseksi, ulkomailla hankitun maisterin paperit ei kelpaa suomessa siihen, että susta tulis kelpuutettu psykologi, vaan se pitää jotenki vahventaa VALVIRAlla ja vissiin käydä jotain kursseja siihen päälle. Onko sulla tietoa, miten iso prosessi se on, jos käy ulkomailla kandi+maisteri ja sitten pala Suomeen suorittamaan sen, että olet kykenevä toimimaan psykologina?

    • @KatChatsFinnish
      @KatChatsFinnish  5 років тому

      Moi! :) Ei mitään, ja joo opiskelen psykologiaa Briteissä et en kauheesti tiiä muista maista sit :P
      Täällä ainakin UCAS:in kautta haetaan ja siihen tarttee vaan arvosanat ja jonkun opettajan kirjeen/oman mini-esseen - kantsii kattoo ihan niiden sivuilta jos asiat on muuttunu (UCAS siis). Käsittääkseni ei tarvii mitään haastatteluja (paitsi jonnekkin Oxford/Cambridge) ja Irlannissa on melko sama homma vaikka ei UCAS:in kautta haetakkaan. Muualle en sit voi sanoa kun en ole ite hakenu :/ Ei siis ole mitään pääsykokeita tääne :D
      Täällä siis kaikki opinnot on pelkkiä "bachelors degrees" eli maisteri ohjelmiin haetaan ihan erikseen bachelorsin jälkeen. Ite mietin tulisinko Suomeen ihan maisterin takia siis kun Suomessahan se on ilmanen ja oliskohan vähemmän ongelmia tutkinnon käännyttämisessä? En siis tiedä tarkkaan, kannataisi itekkin varmaan kattoo tarkemmin nää asiat xD
