Hey Dereck. I appreciate the work you put into the video. I think it makes my car look half way decent :). Had a great time talking to you guys at Finals. Wish I knew where the meet up was earlier that day. I appreciate the comments on my car. Is was a long drawn out process and it's not over yet. I've read some concerns about the amps overheating because of how they are installed. Since the drivers are so efficient I don't have to turn it up much to get loud. The amps are either seeing 4 or 8 ohm loads. I often take trips that are 2 hour plus drives and the amps are mildly warm at the end.
Kelly Wilson thanks again for letting me video your setup. You did a fantastic job and hopefully we'll have more time to hang out next time we meet up!
Beautiful! See I was born in 85 but got to ride around in my Uncles 79 Cutlass. Couldnt have been no older than 8 or so. I remember his whole setup. 1 10 inch kicker in a trick box, Pylw Tweets, pioneer mids and Pioneer hu. Im not for sure but I believe he told me kicker amps. Couldnt see them because the box was so big. Man i remember it beating up the neighborhood but the words the actual music came in so clear. Had the biggest smile on my face when he would pick me up from school and crank it up for my friends R.I.P Uncle Doug
Man those image dynamics horns really take me back, reminds me of the mid 90's when a older friend of mine first got me into car audio. Thanks for sharing love the videos.
anyone remember the old suburban that was having cabin gain issues in the issues of CA&E ? he did a head unit like that where he actually wired all of the functions to this stock faceplate 'burban radio. anyhow, this reminded me of that. gnarly install. keep it up!
That is awesome. I always wanted to try some of those Image Dynamics horns . In many of my wishlist systems from the 90's included the Image Dynamics horns .
Apart from Shawn's ride, his was one of the coolest and cleanest I saw at the show. And he wasn't even part of it! Neither was Shawn's either, for that matter. Lol. I'm still amazed at how awesome Shawn's system sounded.
Love this install!! I am currently undergoing something similiar in my old 528i. I have two IDW18s in a baffle in my trunk. Am waiting on my Eric Stevens horn bodies which are currently being shipped.) These will have Image Dynamics CD-2 comp drivers and a pair of JBL2118s for the kickpanels. I can't wait!!
I love stealth installs, love that stock look, and love SQ. On another note, I hate shiny cars with vibrating trunks, shiny amps and subs, and specially big shiny wheels, but that's a story for another day.
This brings back so many memories. I had two of those 15s in my 89 Beretta GT with American Racing 5 stars...lmao I blew out the rear windshield with those subs.
Ahhhhh the late 80's and 90's the installations were more aesthetic better elaborated with more character and beautiful definitions, secret compartments that were opened electronically, apart from the installations the components were better elaborated, if they were bigger but effective, in short this installation of the video and the components are sensational, The Horns image dinamycs since the 90's that I don't see and hear, thanks Big D wiz for this section of OLD SCHOOL videos !!!
Omg mannnnn what the monte sound like? Specifically the horn tweeters under each of the dash. Remember Richard Clarke's Buick GNX 6 speaker setup when alpine amps and 30 band equalizer and all that jazz
Awesome. When I had my Ford wagon, everything was hidden too. You could not see any speakers except the enclosure in the back which in turn was covered with the factory pull cover. The amplifiers were hidden inside the custom back seat. You wouldn’t expect to be a any sound system there until I turn up the volume. 😬
Very slick hidden install. Love the amps. Thought the same thing about the heat, especially being inverted... but I don't think he's running them low ohms. Those speaker fronts remind me of the old Ev's, but the real treat for me was seeing a free air trunk setup, albeit inverted. They're just not done anymore. Super, super cool.
Believe it or not Infinity Baffle, or "Free Air" as it's colloquially known is making quite the comeback in SQ cars. There are several people over at DIYMA using similar set ups in their rides. I don't think I've ever seen a reverse IB set up where the back of the woofer is in the cabin and the cone in the trunk. However as long as the trunk side is sealed it should work either way. I too would have concerns about those Ref amps being mounted upside down. Even at four ohms they tend to run hot when pushed. How did it sound Wiz? Waveguides need to make a comeback. No one is using compression drivers anymore...
Kevin Williams Yes, many had this type of setup, some using rear deck, others using baffle behind the seat. Kelly is also on DIYMA as "bigbubba" and ShawnK is the one who I traveled with and he has (2) JL W12Gti's in the rear deck of his Accord IB and they sounded fantastic as well!
Kevin Williams FYI, I plan to use ID mini horns in my 03 Cobra (powered by KLW Kmos 2200s), as well as old scool USD Waveguides (with Sellenium drivers) in my 91 Tbird SC.:)
my brother ha a pretty nice install done on an 87 mustang hatchback avi rockford carver /klw audio Broadway amps sweet stuff all hidden had plate just like that
I don't agree with how he did the amps and the way those speakers are in the back because those are NOT subs!!! But the install itself is clean AF! Especially the way he did that radio 💯 I have an 01 SS and I'm doing some stealthy kind of stuff with my install as well and this is very very inspiring I will start filming my install and post it as I go I'm in the planning and testing phase but once I get to down to business I'm sharing and hope you will take a gander at it and give me some feedback love your vids this was awesome thanks for posting I wish there were more Monte Carlo installs up!!!
Well it’s not really stealth if you can see the amps. Stealth is like Richard Clark’s ‘86 Grand National where you see absolutely nothing. I know those Soundstream amps have to overheat mounted upside down like that if you pound the system hard cause I’m almost positive they are class AB. I remember those from back in the late 80s. Also how low will those 8” midbasses play flat in those enclosures? Doesn’t look like a whole lot of airspace in there to achieve a low fb. Do you have to boost the low bass on them? Aside from that the only thing I don’t like is that in order to hear the 15s well you have to lower the back seat. Nevertheless it’s good to see that there are people interested in sound quality and not just SPL. I
You know what would be cool? If someone see what was up with Richard Clarke's Grand National. Man I wish I could have heard what that car sound like back in the day. Well hell even now
I have an older autotex ss 750.1 the thing is the black with brushed metal down the center and almost a foot and a half long and its always done well for what I needed... I was wanting to know if u could get ur hands on one and throw it on the dyno
It's really difficult to capture SQ of a car without really nice mics. I only brought my shotgun mic and the on camera mic would not have done this vehicle justice.
So you gotta have the rear seats down so as to not impeded the sound from the subs. And I know damn well that those amp mounted upside down will overheat after a while if you listen to pounding bass. Fail.
JJonescaraudio1 as I stated in a previous comment "It's really difficult to capture SQ of a car without really nice mics. I only brought my shotgun mic and the on camera mic would not have done this vehicle justice." I'll get some audio next time, promise!
well yea love ur channel but I don't read every comment posted my bad maybe you should include that in the description that way you wouldn't have to answer it a million times in the future

+a1duzit good times you will never forget. That's what it's all about. R.I.P. Uncle Doug 😥
a1duzit thanks for your story

Absolutely amazing....love horn and infinite baffle setups, very nice install.
Montez Rice thanks for the comment, I'm sure the owner appreciates it
So many cool things in this video. Old School gear, stealth install (plus fake factory face), great production value on the video. Good work man.
Thanks for the comment. All of the props go to the owner of the car and the work he put into the system
anyone remember the old suburban that was having cabin gain issues in the issues of CA&E ?

Love that deck install
donald lewis I agree, great idea!
Dereck BigDWiz it is a grand idea. i was thinking it was going to flip down.
That Monte Carlo looked awesome
Apart from Shawn's ride, his was one of the coolest and cleanest I saw at the show. And he wasn't even part of it! Neither was Shawn's either, for that matter. Lol. I'm still amazed at how awesome Shawn's system sounded.
Danny Caballero I have some footage of Shawn's car and plan on doing a video on his setup very soon as well.
Awesome!
That is the best stealth system I have ever seen!! Wow what a great job!!!
+P.Formula Powers I thought it was pretty slick too!
That Monte Carlo is no joke. Awesome all around!

Would love to have those amps. So sad what happened with Soundstream. Great install great video.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
That's a super tight and very clean buildup
PSE Mentalist Thanks for watching and for the comment

@@wal Any time brother!
I really liked this system, and it sounded great too! Awesome Kelly!
I know somebody else who had a line of people waiting to hear their car as well... >> Shawn K , lol
Wow, what an awesome sq system! I can't wait to get to work on my cars!
Sweet old school build man!!
I love them old school soundstreams.
I sold them out of my garage in high school back in the late 90s! Dealer cost for all of my friends didn’t hurt my popularity with the seniors :)

Just like Richard Clarks old school Grand National system.
Nicely done clean install
WOW!!! That's a sweet install.
Thanks for sharing BiG D Wiz. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the comment! More amp tests coming up soon!
Awesome Stealth Install!!!~Very Clean!~
Very nice instal , but why all speakers mounted in legs ? what about height of soundstage ?
my brother ha a pretty nice install done on an 87 mustang hatchback avi rockford carver /klw audio Broadway amps sweet stuff all hidden had plate just like that
Looks nice and clean
i saw something like this from the 1990's car audio magazines it was an impala same set uptype
I don't agree with how he did the amps and the way those speakers are in the back because those are NOT subs!!! But the install itself is clean AF! That had to sound as beautiful as the install looked.
Just put lil something in my ol skool 04 Monte but my man stuff is dope!!!!!!!!!!!
👌😝👍
THAT'S SHARP!
SICK !!
Nice setup nice work
Thats badass!!
You know what would be cool? If someone see what was up with Richard Clarke's Grand National. Man I wish I could have heard what that car sound like back in the day. Well hell even now
Now that's old school :))
rc121crx no diggity! That face panel hiding the P99 is just too cool!!
Sweet and stealth
nice and clean, I'd like to hear that
I have an older autotex ss 750.1 the thing is the black with brushed metal down the center and almost a foot and a half long and its always done well for what I needed... I was wanting to know if u could get ur hands on one and throw it on the dyno
Sry autotek* is what I meant
how good do those subs sound with a paper surround ?
Sweet install for sure but what's that funky track you put in the background.
Love it! Wow!
Do it bump doe?
I have 2 1993 or 1994 jl w1 8s and a punch 75hd would you be interested in them
Stone Primeaux send me an email with pics bigdwiz@gmail.com. Thanks
this is bad ass
Yeah, but how do it sound?
How did this car sound?
Great video man can you please test the Memphis Belle amp and do all five channels please thanks in advance
Bring back the horns!
I need that
No demo ?
It's really difficult to capture SQ of a car without really nice mics. I only brought my shotgun mic and the on camera mic would not have done this vehicle justice.
James Bond up in this piece>
stealth is best!
There better be fans on the amps . Upside down amp will burn in no time. Especially Rubicon
So you gotta have the rear seats down so as to not impeded the sound from the subs. And I know damn well that those amp mounted upside down will overheat after a while if you listen to pounding bass. Fail.
The seats were down for display purposes. And no, the amps never overheated. I know because that's my brother's car.
no sound demo omg
Demos that aren’t hair tricks are useless. No way to portray Sound Quality via UA-cam
no demo?
+Mr. NumbKnob I didn't have good Mics, demo would not have done this system justice using camera mic
Understood thanks for showing it off anyway
why didn't we get to here it????????????/
JJonescaraudio1 as I stated in a previous comment "It's really difficult to capture SQ of a car without really nice mics. I only brought my shotgun mic and the on camera mic would not have done this vehicle justice." I'll get some audio next time, promise!

Sounds like do do I bet , all sound is trapped in the trunk , air needs vibrate in the listening area , not beat the hinges off the trunk .
+HIGHER LEVEL CHANNEL ever heard of "Infinite Baffle"? Uses the entire trunk as an enclosure. If done right, can sound very good.
BigDWiz free air? Bawawawawaaa
HIGHER LEVEL CHANNEL no, not free air. Infinite baffle. It's different.
