Back in 1968, I attended high school in Virginia. A good friend's dad purchased a used Lloyd Alexander for my friend to drive to school. Even though I considered myself a car guy, I had never heard of this brand. I drove that Lloyd Alexander several times and recall that it was quite roomy inside for a car this size. Most likely that Lloyd was sold new at the same Richmond, Virginia dealership that sold your LLoyd Alexander in 1957.
I have seen a handful of these in much older junk yards and didn't know what they were. It was nice to actually see a Lloyd actually together and in working order. More videos would be nice in the future. I want to see what you had on the back of the truck in the scene when you were driving the Lloyd off of the lift for a test drive.
Thanks, Steve. I'm enjoying your step by step explanations as you attend to your repairs. As a Jaguar fan and owner I couldn't help but notice the one on your hoist ... an XK 150?
Thanks, Steve! I hope you'll continue bringing this charmer back top its full glory. The cool looking engine bay deserves a good clean n' paint n' polish. Also, I hope you will re-cover those front seats and restore the floor covering. I wish I was there, I'd happily do the interior for you.
Love to see those old microcars running again. The more you drive them, the better they run. When you get it all sorted out (though it looks mighty good now) it'd be great to see it really put through its paces: speed, braking, hill climbing, load carrying, etc.
Took you a minute to get the hang of that clutch Steve.😁 Would it be fair to say that it's got a slightly leaky exhaust?😁 Great old car; looking forward to learning more about it.
It is a touchy clutch because it is no longer smooth because it sat for too long. Just like when you see rusty brake rotors on a car that say too long. It will get better the more it is driven.
Does it really have a fuel pump...? even though fuel is gravity fed. The wheels and tyres look a bit over size, are they the correct factory spec? Nice little runabout, I would use it for our weekly run to the supermarket, in normal times that is.
Thanks Steve for a very good fotage of all your jobs and I must ask you if you have a helping hand when filming your driving outside the garage. The camera is following your turns? Thanks again for a splendid site with clear speech for me from Sweden (and others).
I was born in 1956 and saw this cute car quite often until they magically disappeared from tzhe roads by the mid 1960s. Llyod and the parent company Borgward ceased to exist in 1961 - a big loss, as the Borgwards were on par with Mercedes.
way cool car man! your taste is very eclectic! always a surprise! Researched this car. German, Air cooled! When you drove it off of the lift, there was exhaust smoke coming from under the engine? Where did you find this one?
Is the points old? Seems they packed up quickly. Might consider checking or replacing the plug wires. Cant remember if the car has a charging light or meter?
Once points get corroded the loose the plating that protects them. Cleaning the points is a temporary solution once it get bad enough you have to clean them they won’t stay clean for long and you really need to replace them.
More please, I like those interesting little cars you have
More Lloyd videos would be great.

There couldn’t have been many dealers. They are similar to a beetle or a mini they are bigger on the inside.
All you need to know about Lloyd (automobile): ua-cam.com/video/QpZGpBODVCw/v-deo.html

Do you still have LLoyd cars ? maybe for sale ?
More Lloyd please Steve!!!! Great stuff mate.
popped up from 3 years ago, I'm a big Lloyd and Borgward (parent company) fan. was there anymore videos on this car. thanks Steve
Result! You've certainly an eclectic car collection Steve.
Rememebr them from when I was a kid. Amazing that you get them still in this condition !
Cute car! Glad you were able to get it running.
Great to see the Lloyd running, Steve. 😊👍
Love the Lloyd! Trying to get the timing on mine dialed in right now.
My dad had a Lloyd mini van. I think it was a 59. The floor to the road was about 18 inches. I think it had the big engine.
Thanks, Steve. I'm enjoying your step by step explanations as you attend to your repairs. As a Jaguar fan and owner I couldn't help but notice the one on your hoist ... an XK 150?
Good to see the Lloyd running. Interesting car.
It really is a VERY sweet little car...!
Thanks, Steve! I hope you'll continue bringing this charmer back top its full glory.

Glorious little car!!!!
I love that little car! I think if it was put into production with an electric motor it would sell very well
Unfortunately you can't have good looking simple cars anymore thanks to stupid "safety" laws because people are too stupid to use common sense.
What a cute and cool lil car!
More Lloyd coverage please, I have a Borgward Isabella from the same group.
I am a retired auto electrician this.Bosch starter motor looks identical to early 6volt VW beetle or combi van.
Wow Steve i love this car... great work on the body and paint choice!
Great video! More driving the Lloyd!
Well done Steve ! Now come to sunny England and start my Mgb , hasn't run since 1999.😀
It must get great MPG's. I don't know how you find cars like that. She sounds like my V-twin Kholer lawn mower. Very cool car.
I dig this little machine...more videos please! ...Newk from Kentucky
lloyd engine was my punk name, back in the '80's.
You are impressive, Steve.
Agree with John, more videos on the lloyd.
Tell me more about the Lloyd Alexander. Also if you can locate any other strange vehicles. One from Mexico rings bell, but can't recall the name.

SUPER ‼️
Interesting looking car setting on the rollback in your shop.
Good day. The car on the roll back is a Jaguar XK 120 Drop Head Coupe. From the about 1948 to 1955.
Of course, of course, of course! More, of course.
That is a nice small car. I would love to see more videos on this car.
awesome car

Not usually I have two cameras that I can set to track an object so that they can film me around around parking lot.
More Lloyd videos please! I have a 1960 Lloyd that is not yet running.
That is a wild looking unit. You be careful. Like to know a little more about it.
Beautiful car
Yes, of course I want to see more from this car. I think there is more to fix. First the Exhaust and maybe the Clutch?
It just needs to driven. The clutch will clean up after it is driven a bit. Cars can’t sit around even in a climate controlled room.
@@ThisWeekWithCars OK, I understand....
Yes Yes More More. Like WAYYYYY More PLEASE!
Hi Steve. Think l prefer the XK 120 DHC on the truck! But the Lloyd is definitely rarer.Thanks.
Success!

What happened to 1971 XJ6?
way cool car man! your taste is very eclectic! always a surprise! Researched this car. German, Air cooled! When you drove it off of the lift, there was exhaust smoke coming from under the engine? Where did you find this one?
I had a 59 Isabella borgward station wagon. Wish I still owned it.
Just took on friend's Lloyd, needs a starter, none in the car presently. Any suggestions on where to source one please?
eBay
more LLOYD !!!!!!
i want to see more of everything in your inventory.
Is the points old? Seems they packed up quickly. Might consider checking or replacing the plug wires. Cant remember if the car has a charging light or meter?

Is this the last one for this car Steve? Thanks!
How many gears in the transmission?
Nice car. It looks like a cartoon character. But where is the Morris minor pick up????
Steve, is that your Jag XK (120,140,150?) on the hoist?
Let's see that DKW engine rebuild!
Yep.
Where do you FIND these things?!
you need to adjust the clutch next.
More Lloyd videos!
neat car
👍🏻
All these rare European cars. You must really like difficult challenges.
Scary having the fuel tank right in front of you if you crash!
mmmmm juggling tiny nuts and washers in confined spaces, I feel right at home. I have a 1960 BMC car.
So you like the manpussy huh?
Old cars need to be driven
More rare vehicles
Steve, when can I satisfy you????
Pls feed us more...
no doughnuts in that car.
