@@Annastesia19 Not if the others get hold of them. I know a former prison officer who admitted that if something kicked off and it involved a particularly nasty piece of work getting kicked about, them and their colleagues would walk, not run to the scene.
The Sidney Cooke gang is one of the most appalling cases in the 20th century and it's shocking that they're not more well known. Sadly, Mark Tildesley was typical of Many of the victims. From a somewhat chaotic family where nobody was acting as his guardian. Both Mark's Father and his older brother (who had a criminal record and who had previously physically attacked Mark) were suspects at the start. As the reconstruction shows, his parents knowingly allowed him to go to the Fair by himself, aged just 7. This absolutely was NOT normal back then. Fairs had a truly appalling reputation for decades if not centuries, and that reputation was well known in the 80s. They were noted as dangerous places, not only because of paedophiles, but also for antisocial behaviour and attracting "bad kids". Just look at how they were depicted in Disney's Pinocchio as far back the 1940s. There had been a number of kids going missing from fairgrounds or coming to harm in the decades leading up to Mark's abduction, and it's sadly not unheard of today. Perhaps the most prominent fairground case before Mark's case was that of 15 year old Sean McGann a couple of years earlier. He was found murdered after visiting a fairground. Some have speculated that Sidney Cooke was also involved in that.
This episode sends shivers down my spine. In 1974, this same man approached me and a friend. He appeared lost and akward. He asked if I could show him where the train station was. I feel so sad for young Mark. This man is the devil incarnate. They know how to put you at ease; & I only 10 years old at the time trusted him; as insane as it now appears. I was innocent as children were in those days; never imagining that I was in the company of a psychopathic murderer. He persuaded me to help him carry bags he had hidden on an abandoned viaduct. When we arrived there, he flew into a psychotic frenzy and dragged me along the embankment. I felt that he was going to kill me & begged him not to. This terror still lives we me today. He went about his evil work as I prayed for God to save me. From the corner of my eye a stranger appeared, a Hell´s angel, but angel nonetheless. The devil ran...he took my trust and sense of safety with him. Yes, I survived, yes I was lucky. I know what Mark and how many others went through. This man is truly evil. I only became certain watching this that yes it was him. When he abducted me he was wearning the same thick framed glasses. He must have used them as an attempt to disguise himself. Hence I´m writing this. There must be countless other victims of this man. God help us all recover from our experience with this devil!

Your magic Pro dec you mad bastard
Is that Kathy from Casualty, who is playing the part of the lady being forced to open the safe?
I'd never previously considered randomly knocking at peoples' doors and saying I need to perforn an intimate healtth inspection...
"Trust me, I'm a doctor...'
I love it armchair detective work keep them coming
have a day off gow?
Securicor van chase the snowflakes of today wouldn't do this.
Snowflakes would simply weep and whine about it being "unfair" and wanting their "safe space".

I love the way that in one episode a police metro (hahaha) can’t keep up with a crim cortina as too powerful, then here an armoured transit catches and crashes into an escaping cortina...how crap a getaway driver did these guys pick? Miss Daisy?
25 mins in - if you have to evacuate a hospital due to a fire, where do they take patients?
28:57 🤣
Well don't bloody answer him! 🤦
Ere' How did the cash gang get the money - did the Securicor boys just hand it over, off cam??? Nice bit of footage, mind. Excellent stunt drivers.
I like that you actually wrote ‘Ere’ lmao
Thought exact same - one minute stood waiting the next running out with bags.
@@johnclegg4993 they admit in later episodes that they don't always show the full altercation because they don't want copy cats and only show parts that can't easily be copied for the safety of future security staff etc.
An I'd card nowadays would be so easy to copy esp if the verify.
Wth would allow someone into their home without prior appointment etc. Absolutely CRAZY.
Ahhh on little mark case I’ll I can say
A bright red sweater
Yes put that on - you won't be spotted or remembered wearing that 😂
We're these men ever caught?
I always wonder what made those criminals to be criminals. They were once babies, each one was given a nice name and well wishes .
08:10 "Bastard's still behind us!"
The best of the 80s
Thankfully we have CCTV everywhere now and people have camera phones, and kids aren't just left to wander the streets ,I hope.
I noticed watching a lot of these early Crimewatch episodes, the kids would be out all day nobody watching them.. what chance did they have? Parents too busy to notice them, like the two girls were taken by that pig who killed another girl, babes in the wood killer. They were out morning to night just walking around the town ..just sad, but different eras I suppose the internet babysits kids now.. and luckily DNA catches killers too
Cctv was better than that it is now.
Has Hatcher lost his shoulder ‘pips’? And, what is happening with La Phelps’ hair?
Do love John Doe appeals. Anyone know anything on the suicide on Hastings beach?

British people were really on about stealing fancy chairs and antique suitcases and trailers full of hairspray in the 80s huh
Watchimg it in 2020 lool!
Who murdered Myfanwy Jones?
A Farmer..... looks like the guy she was chatting to at entrance to farm
My fanny fishy food knickers
MrTwisted1977 lmao you walked into that one #pwned
Was the farmer he then killed himself.
@@MrTwisted1977 Are you a third grader...?
that chap who lived above the antique shop was pretty stupid picking up the gun, especially with kids in the house, it nearly cost him his life, although it was pretty brave I'll give him that
He died in January 1989 apparently (the proprietor). Wife still runs the shop.
Why does that WPC sound and look like the girl from Phone Shop lol
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

Is Sidney Cooke REALLY still alive?! Does anyone here REALLY believe he is STILL alive today at 94 years old in HMP Wakefield?!?!
Not fair is it 😡
He is apparently still alive today at the age of 97 (sic).
@davidbatthews3811 There is also a recent newspaper article that Cooke will appear before judges at a eleventh parole hearing in May 2025 a month after his 98th birthday. 🤬😡
My year and month of birth.........let's see what was happening. 🧐🧐
Same 👍 25th
Has anyone noticed how all of the ‘senior’ plain clothes police officers interviewed on this programme are white men?
