Thank You so much for bringing these amazing bikes to the limelight they so deserve! I am awaiting delivery to Canada from the UK of my first Velocette, a '54 MSS, to prepare it for touring here on the West Coast of North America.
This is a really excellent overview of the Velocette KTT, and a lovely view of a warm sunny morning to take away the dull wet weather in Europe! Many thanks for posting this! Stay safe! Chris B.
Great video, and the best explanation I’ve heard of what makes these wonderful machines so speciaI. I owned a 1938 KSS in 1968 when I was 18, and of all of the motorcycles I’ve owned before and since, that one made the greatest impression on me. When I first rode it, I was amazed at how smooth the engine was, how superbly it steered and handled, and the sheer beauty and elegance of design. 55 years later, I’ve bought another 1938 KSS, and when I’ve finished fettling it, I shall see whether it’s as good as I remember. Just one thing I’d mention: you say that the designation of the ohc models with the letter “K” is from the German for “camshaft”. This isn’t the case, since the German for camshaft is Nockenwelle. I believe that the K was simply the next letter to be allocated for the new model, following on from the model H and omitting the letters “I” and J””in order to avoid confusion., since the letter I could be confused with the digit 1, and the letter J could be confused with the letter I, particularly in foreign markets. (For example, Agfa produced a camera before the war with the model name Igestar, but it appears on the camera as Jgestar. Similarly, Zeiss Ikon produced a camera with the model name Icarette, but on the camera it appears as Jcarette. This is still causing confusion for camera collectors to this day).

Great stuff Phil. You have a really nice presentation style. Do a TV series!
