Thank you, Bishop Barron. I am 61 years old, and two years ago, converted to the Catholic Faith, after 59 years of being Protestant. My mom, dad, and I went to church every Sunday as I was growing up. We were all in choirs. Dad was a Sunday school teacher. I have come to love everything Catholic. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for everything you do. Yes, you help converts.

I may have commented on other videos before in a similar way. I really appreciate the commentary and interviews of Bishop Barron. I am not a Christian, but it is really nice to hear intellectual commentary from the Catholic perspective.

I ordered Meditations and Devotions so that I can get my foot in the water, so to speak, with Newman. I’m a huge Aquinas fan, so this seems like the next natural step for me!

Wow! This is a less-than-an-hour summary of Newman's thought of what would normally take a semester's graduate school course on Newman. Thanks Bishop for refreshing my knowledge of Newman and for introducing the gentleman, scholar and saint to more people today. He is afterall the greatest theologian since Thomas Aquinas, I now agree.

We are in too many ways, a country of the lost. I wish the Church saw this, had some understanding of this. Lost. Not poor, not homeless, not even uneducated. Lost. What does this lostness demand of the Church? This is why I worry about how much we accommodate the Faith. Not only for those of us inside the Church, but for those outside.

    Hi Bishop Barron.
I know there are a million comments and you probably won't see this, but I would be curious to know your thoughts on the Amazon Synod. It's caused some controversy among Catholics and I would be interested to hear your take.
    Thanks and God bless!

"Newman didn't deny essences and forms, but he tended to see how they infolded themselves over space and time"
he sounds like an interesting person; thankfully I found his autobiography on LibriVox.

That's an awesome pict. of The Venerable Robert Bush p Baron.. he looks like the captain/cleric/priest at the head of the Church..saving souls in the ocean of life. So let's hang on, and climb up the side of the ark..if we are not inside our boat of salvation. Good, awesome flattering portrait.

Why not talk about Cardinal Newman's gay life? He was living with his partner, Fr. Ambrose and because he was from an anglican background was given special dispensation to continue in a married state. It doesn't make a difference if a marriage is gay or straight. Cardinal Newman even in death was a committed husband, and gave specific instructions, fearing that the church might try to separate him from Fr. Ambrose once it figured our the nature of their relationship and uncovered some evidence to that effect, that he be buried with SPECIAL DECOMPOSING SOIL IN the grave of Fr. Ambrose!!! so that their bodies would be together and decompose together and not be seperated in death.
This was discovered in 2008, when the Vatican ordered that the bodies be separated & an empty grave was found, with the bodies having decomposed! Some research in local sources, revealed that a journalist who attended the funeral of cardinal Newman, wrote in a Birmingham newspaper that Cardinal Newman had ordered that special decomposing soil be used so that he not be separated from his lover, Fr Ambrose.
The greatest gift to the great Cardinal Newman would be to respect his last wishes and honour his relationship. Cardinal Newman is no less a theologian or philosopher because he was gay!

This is nothing more than pure defamation. First, all this nonsense about St. Newman being an homosexual is based solely on the denial of Philia, the love between brothers, equals. Not every love is a sexual eros - and even the eros love is not entirely sexual. Second, there is no proof whatsoever of this allegations. Newman was a Saint, and that means he loved his neighbors - and specially his close friends - as he loved himself. Better yet, he loved them even more than himself, for this is the true love: to love on as Christ loved us.

    • @TheBrownbuck
      @TheBrownbuck 4 роки тому +1

@@rafaelcronjemateus The proof is right there, friend. Why do you find it tough to accept it?
Cardinal Newman isn't any less a catholic or man because he is gay. Gay people are human and their love and relations are worthy of respect.

"Now, if i, as a private priest, put anything into print, Propaganda [Vatican] answers me at once. How can i fight with such a chain on my arm? it is like the Persians driven to fight under the lash." - Cardinal Newman to Miss E Bowles, 19 May, 1863
Instead of blaming me for the truth... do your research
