Watching these videos makes me *almost* miss my old '79 3/4 ton Power Wagon. It was a regular cab longbed, 318/727TF/NP203 with the same axles as what y'all just put under that half ton.
The stock rims for the 3/4 Dodges were 16.5", which is why your 16" wheels barely clear the calipers. Also, there is a grease zerk behind the brake rotor that allows for greasing the front wheel bearings. There is an access hole in the brake rotor for the zerk and the bearing retainer bolts. Do yourself a favor and grease the front bearings. Replacements used to be $465 per side, dealer only parts and came as an assembly in the late 1980's. Keep up the good work. I miss my W-200.
that front end uses a unt type wheel bearings and if you look at the front disk brake rotor you will see a 3/4 inch hole and if you rotate it with the wheel off it will line up with a GREASE ZERK that will allow you to grease the beaings that will save you from wearing out the wheel bearings!
Larry Mulalley and NO spindle nut , replacing those massive 4 inch wheel bearings requires press fitting them into the rotor. I had so much trouble that I carried an extra rotor (with bearing) behind the seat. Then I wised up and put an axle from a 3/4 ton Suburban in. 79 440 Power Wagon here.
A 440/A727 combo will be mint for this thing. It's going to be badass once you get a good transfer case, get the frame cleaned and painted, and get it all put together and running. I've said it 100 times and I'll say it again, I would stab someone to have kept my 84 Ramcharger. It ran so great with a 360LA, but I was constantly running into airlock in my rotted out fuel lines and I could never figure it out until after I got rid of it. I ended up swapping a 360 Magnum into it with the 727, the stock NP205 transfer case, and the 9 and a quarter rear. I gave up on it because the quarter panels were trashed and I never thought that I would be able to fix it. In the meantime I have restored a 97 Honda Civic coupe that makes 508 whp now. When I bought it, it was a rusted out single cam that barely ran.
Loving this Build, The Color Especially and the headliner etc. just make it That much Better!! Keep up the Great Work & Keep these '60s-'70s Pickup Videos coming Craig!!
That truck is going to be so cool I'm glad to see that the gentleman is putting it back together will definitely keep watching to see how it all turns out great video and stay safe
‘In California, 1975 and older vehicles are Smog Check Exempt. If you could find a clear title ‘72 - ‘75 you could swap parts over and build it any way you want. I own a ‘74 W200 3/4 ton Power Wagon for that reason. I got it for $2K, running but needing work, in Riverside, CA in 2016. Also, believe it or not, there are several rural counties (like Tuolumne County, south east of Sacramento) and even zip codes in San Bernardino County near the Nevada boarder, that are Smog Check Exempt for all vehicles.
@@vapecatt originally it was the 30 year old thing, but the commy state of Cali changed it to 75 and older. Anything 76 or newer will always require smog checks ☹️
Killer truck, those tires are super expensive, make sure to check the date codes if you buy used, some guy tried to sell us a set of those tires that were 10 years old at a swap meet
While you’re there, why don’t you paint and or powder coat the frame & suspension to protect it and looks nice too? Waiting for wheels and tires anyway, so not losing time.
the stock config on a 440 in a power-wagon is underwhelming. if you didn't need to worry about smog, it could be better. I will say the torque it puts out is nice. if thats a 3 speed 727 transmission, dont expect to be going faster than 55. the 440 in my 1976 w200 is shot, and while i was researching on how to get more power out of it, i came across a 5.7 hemi out of a wrecked police car with only 12000 miles that was too good to pass up. i got the whole car so i have a complete donor setup.
"It won't be hard..." NEVER say, or even think, that when you're working on an old, or any, vehicle, it always comes back and bites you in the butt with a set of teeth that makes Jaws look like a new-born baby...
For the amount of money spent on the 440 you could have cummins swapped it theres no way a 440 with no cam or compression is going to out torque a cummins

I love that you guys are going old school on it defo with the H1 rims! Those 37s are massive in general!

Like how Iron Maiden is just playing the back ground in the beginning
Love the Iron Maiden in the background. Keep up the good work from one metal head to another
So many projects Craig I can't wait to see them alive and driving if you will and many more to come!

That’s badass! I feel bad for you guys dealing with smog tho, we have it easy here in Montana
Love the truck.
Can we get a big “Hell Yeah “ for the big block 440 !!
Nice, a bit of Iron Maiden playing in the background at the start of the video...
Man watching this makes me want spring even more. Damn snow burying my truck

still emissions on a truck over 40yrs old!!! so glad I live in a state with NO emissions
@@BlackLung87 its 30+ years old once it 30 years old its smog exempt
Nope, 1975 and earlier no smog check required, and as it looks now that won't change
@@the_fomoco_man5160
Thought it was the other way around.
@@vapecatt originally it was the 30 year old thing, but the commy state of Cali changed it to 75 and older. Anything 76 or newer will always require smog checks ☹️
Same!! Straight pipe exhaust on my dodge diesels and dodge gassers!!!
Nice work!!! I wouldn’t have painted that frame with bed liner/undercoating or black Rustoleum though.
That'll probably be plenty enough protection for as dry an area as Southern California. No road salt...
I hear Iron Maiden playing in background. Crank it up!
Killer truck, those tires are super expensive, make sure to check the date codes if you buy used, some guy tried to sell us a set of those tires that were 10 years old at a swap meet
Truck is sick man keep it up. Can wait to see some more of the truck
Damn this shits good. This channel is probably the reason I bought another project honestly
I know, right. Killing me.
Right I'm but ready to buy another old square body after watching these videos
Yeah I myself am about ready to buy a 1969 dodge charger and restore it with the money I don't have lol
I just noticed you guys use the old u-bolts
*Sure Grip! Pozzees are for Shove-er-lays!
wish i had a 75 power wagon. No smog. How did you got it to pass with a big block with the new laws in ca.
Maiden in the background? hell yeah!
Lift blocks are kinda sketchy but not bad my trucks got them on all 4 tires and it rides fineish
While you’re there, why don’t you paint and or powder coat the frame & suspension to protect it and looks nice too? Waiting for wheels and tires anyway, so not losing time.
I'm thinking about getting those tires for my 2009 Silverado but in 285/60/20
A big block 440 automatic for the win
That power wagon going be a beast love the graphics n colors....are you still doing the crown vic f100 frame build?
440 . . . NICE!!!
A big block 440 that’s gonna have hella power
Is that a charger in the garage
Awesome!!! Bout time you finally start coming to the Mopar side of things haha keep it up
California is crazy strict with smog regulations, out in Connecticut anything from 25 years or older does not get smog testing
Hopefully those bread locks are legal in California. I'm not too sure what bead locks laws are like there. With every state it seems to vary.
It's looking sick keep the vids coming 👍
Thanks for the content and keep up the great work
I love it man. It’s just mint.
yo, what's the originalheight and tire size you got on it, it looks dope
Nice lil toot
Having a blast at the end there....
What wheels were in the truck. I want a set for my truck
That’s a pretty truck
I love those wheels i need to get some for my 1 ton ford 👍👍😀😀
Opens with Iron Maiden?
Content quality increases
I love that Maiden is playing in the background, while working on classic Dodge 4x4s!!
Smog ruins everything
Were did yall find the 440
That’s cool

id like to see the hummer rims just like they are with the new tires NO shiny new paint on em
cool stuff
I have full tread humvee takeoffs on the same style bullet hole wheels that are on the truck. I'd sell em.
RUN TO THE HILLS
I want some wheels like those for my 89 dodge
Whst happened to this truck? Out of curiosity.
Craig you need to work on the frame swap!!
Can’t you smog it and then change the parts
Yeah, you could. But you would need do that every two years.
Great video
But the real question is was the 440 from a motorhome
I want those original wheels
They are cool
Mopar Go Far !
Put a cummins or 7.3 in it
Nice bros beadlock rims top notch
Re using u bolts is the dumbest thing people do...they're stretch, threads distort
"It won't be hard..." NEVER say, or even think, that when you're working on an old, or any, vehicle, it always comes back and bites you in the butt with a set of teeth that makes Jaws look like a new-born baby...
Those are SERIOUS wheels. You'd need to be really trying to pull the tyres off those...
the side
graphics I would like to have also gladly
its not smog exempt
I would have gone with the diesel if I could
Hello
Love it
those rims are fire
Where’s the glllllllaxieee 😂
No I'm late to the party but it's funny how you think your the only ones running military humv wheels
For the amount of money spent on the 440 you could have cummins swapped it theres no way a 440 with no cam or compression is going to out torque a cummins
Hate ford but love this!!
# nc I can run what I want take it to the local guy he will pass it😁
That's bitchen I can't wait to see this bad boy
first comment:0 love your vids soo much
Bornforadventure on instagram sells military tires and is in California.
Every time they said because of smog I felt like I died a little inside glad I dont live in California
30 years or older is smog exempt theres no smog for that thing
Wrong. 1975 or older is smog exempt here. My 35 year old car still requires a biannual smog inspection. Crazy but true.
Should put a 429 in her lol
Smog, wtf. You must live in Illinois. Where you have to pay to own guns too. 😂 nope California I see it on your boat now..... baaaaa hawww hawww.
