Underrated breed. My buddy was with us for 11 years and he was the best dog a man could ask for. He was trained quickly and was incredibly loving. Also he wasn’t needy at all, but loyal to a fault. I miss him so much.

My cocker spaniel never met a stranger, she wasn't afraid of anyone!! She could be food aggressive and you couldn't leave your plate unattended! She did tend to nip at kids if she wasn't sure what they were doing or if anyone tried to take food away from her that she knew she wasn't supposed to have. She absolutely loved to eat and chew raw hides and even inhaled a whole plate of brownies once without getting sick!! She was with us for almost 14 years and is missed very much!!! ❤️

I love these dogs. I have a 3 years old English Cockerspaniel. Got. him as a Baby from a breeder in east Germany. I love this dog more than anything else. I had a Cockerspaniel when I was a kid and wanted one so badly as an adult. 2018 I quit selfemplyement and got. me a regular job. I sold my motorcycle and got me this sweet little dog. It was the best thing that ever could happen to me.

I've just lost our cocker spaniel to kidney failure.she was so calm at home never hyper in the house but when she was out for a walk she could walk and run for hours. A fantastic family dog never showed any aggressiveness to anyone. Rip molly so sadly missed 💔

Our silky black male cocker is 13 and the center of our household. He blinks, rolls over , sits, lays down, shakes, and sometimes comes but never stays. He’s. Very inquisitive and follows us everywhere.

After almost 14 years with us, my golden retriever left us leaving so many good memories filled with joy and love. Now I wish to have a cocker spaniel, which will suit me so properly because it will remind me of mine golden retriever but in a smaller size. We all love dogs at home and I’m looking so much forward to find a cocker spaniel to our family.

We have had three English Cockers. We wouldn't want another breed of dog. Mabel wants to do anything we want to do. She is as social as any little child and wants to please in any way. It is hard not to get emotionally attached to an English Cocker as they are a great family member.

Ours was free, but was old, deaf, and fully blind when she passed. As my daughter grew up with her, she would carry her outside for potty time, brush her, wash her face(she always had gunky eyes), and would spend lots and lots of one on one time with her. Since her passing, my daughter is very emotional when is comes to talking about her or seeing pictures. I'd like a new one but my daughter doesnt want one. It's hard.

Planning on getting a Puppy in early February did alot of research before deciding on a Cocker Spaniel. Hope I made the right decision. I grew up with one. She was very guarded with Strangers coming into the house after they entered just fine. She was super smart died of cancer. I hope for a long life with the puppy almost got a Pug so close to getting one but, my past 2 had so many health issues could not bear to go through that again.

@@weathp I saw your reply but, later. The weekend we were to pickup a puppy Cocker Spaniel. We had not heard from this Breeder in over 2 weeks no pictures didn't return my messages so I ad no idea what was going on but, to think the worse. Pug Rescue out of the blue calls me and asks me if I am interested in this 3-5 yr. old Pug whose Owner had died and was at the Vets. Something was telling me I should go and I did. I told them I would Foster him and see how he does with my Senior Dogs. He was doing great!!. We decided that weekend he would be a much better fit for us and age wise for the other dogs getting along. He is such an awesome little guy so fun and funny. The breeder finally got back with me when I said something about refunding the deposit due to not hearing from her. I think it worked out well and it was maybe meant to be that it just came at the right time.

I have two female cockers. One is a rescue. These dogs are #5 & #6 cockers i have had in 25 years, 5 of which were rescues. These two females are the best. They are not too hyper, play and get along well. currently 5 and 9 years old. Mine dont require much as they play with each other. Dont nip, dont chew my shoes, dont pee in house, friendly to everyone, love other dogs. I have had other cocker rescues with some issues, but most have been lovely. Mine are snuggle bunnies, love to chase squirrels and birds that dare to come into yard. I can sit in recliner and 5 year old comes and sits on arm, also follows me around house. My oldest cocker lived until 16 years old. Grooming can be a bit of work.

My black English Cocker spaniel lived for 17 and a half years. He looked gorgeous! Maintenance was very hard, I regularly groomed him, but all house was filled with his furballs, we vacuumed every day and couldn't get rid of it. Finally I decided to take him to a professional groomer every 4 months. It helped a little, but not much. The problems with his ears infections was chronicle. Also, when he was 8 came the problems with plaque on his teeth, so I regularly took him to the specialized vet to put him to sleep and take care of it as the breath from his mouth was terrible. At his 12 he once couldn't wake up from asleep and the vet said he's too old and his heart can take it anymore. Last few years he smelled badly, ears infection was constant and had issues with used bones, but he enjoyed his walkings, his tail was still high up and his appetite was untact. Even then he looked gorgeous.
As for his character, he was stubborn as a mule, aggressive toward strangers but toward us also if something wasn't like he wanted to be, bite us all and didn't feel any remorse after.
But when he wanted a bite of what we was eating, he was so unbelievabley adorable with his big, sad eyes and he liked to cuddle.
Anyway, in spite the fact that I adored him and cried a river after he died, I would never take another one because he was a real devil sometimes.
There are a lot of breeds that are so much easier to handle and take care of, without all those issues and problems, as much as his ears are adorable, it's just not natural for dogs to have them so long and this one likes to go to the bushes the most and to a water and mud, you just name the worst environment and cocker will allready be in it.
Beautiful devil, that's what cocker is.

My English Cocker Spaniel likely has rage syndrome, she's on anti epileptic meds. While she still has episodes of anger it's a lot calmer and easier to stop. Her trigger is animals after her stuff and while she doesn't break the skin it's extremely scary, I still have nightmares about one of her episodes.

Some of those dogs were king Charles totally disagree with most comments i.e. the king Charles have eye issues ! cockers eat issues is easy sorted clean and dry after they have been swimming or it's been raining and they are soaked . Agressive were does that even come with this breed ? Very sensitive dogs if your a loving human not a thug you'll be fine but I guess there's not many for the poor cocker .

Docking tails used to be common practice, especially for working dogs. In some countries it is prohibited by law. We had an Englisch Cocker in the 70s with a docked tail but you will not find any dog with a docked tail in the Netherlands unless it is a foreign bought dog or if it has been done illegaly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docking_(dog)

This is full of misinformation. Springers are the ones that normally would have rage syndrome and cockers normally love strangers. They were known for their inborn sense of loving people all people. It also says United States on the top but it is showing English dogs who do not have their tails docked like American dogs do. I haven't even finished the video I'm into 2 minutes and I've seen all these mistakes. It is showing both English cockers and American cockers which came from the same breed but are now divided into two breeds.

If cocker spaniel is originate from Spain. Why is their English and American cocker spaniel?

    • @Ariola76
      @Ariola76 3 роки тому

The history behind the breed is that the romans took the breed from Spain and transported some dogs to Britannia provice. There they started breeding these dogs for hunting purposes, that is why they became English cockers. Then around the beginning of the XX. century American breeders started breeding for a differents breed standasd, that is how American Cocker evolved and after a while they were recognised as a different breed within the Spaniel family.
