  • On my third day in Louisiana in partnership with Tabasco sauce we explored the Tabasco Sauce factory and had a food tour!
We started the day bright and early at the Tabasco Museum where we learned how the company started in the 1860's. From there we visited the Tabasco fields.
Next up we saw how they age, blend and bottle Tabasco sauce. We then headed to 1868 restaurant to try some delicious food infused and eaten with Tabasco.
We then tried all the Tabasco sauces with the CEO Tony Simmons. We are in the bayou so our tour of in Louisiana would not be completed without an airboat ride.
To finish the day we drove to Abbeville to eat some blue crab at Richards. That crab was delicious and the secret ingredient was Tabasco sauce!
Have you ever tried Tabasco sauce or visited Avery Island?

Best Tabasco facility tour video on UA-cam! Great job! Already have 2019 summer family vacation plans BUT are considering an RV road trip for 2020 (stopping off for a factory and dinner that night at that resturant) all inspired by this video. Really enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing.

Have been using Tabasco...my whole life. And no matter what anyone tells you...there is no other brand as good. They use only 3 ingredients. Cayenne, Vinegar, and Salt. No additives. And that recipe...gives Tabasco a flavor...that others just simply do not have. I like it so much...I can eat a whole sleeve of crackers...while sprinkling, (or pouring), Tabasco on them, one at a time. And throw some Tabasco, in some genuine, chicken and andouille sausage gumbo??? I eat until I can't walk. Yup...there is just something about Tabasco's flavor...that no other hot sauce brand can match. I crave it...and the more you eat it...the more you have to keep eating it, to keep it from burning so bad. Like that John Cougar record...Hurts...Sooooo....Goooood!

That's Where they grow the seeds for the tobasco. Then the seed are sent abroad to grow the chillies elsewhere..when then shipped in as pulp form.

Those are cheap tour prices. Here in Australia if it's got tourist potential the price jacked up

why do they put all that salt on top of the barrel lids?

    • @dustinfuselier32

Cabo Wabo Incase there is any imperfections on top the lid the salt gets inside the cracks and holes! Just basically a extra layer of protection 👍🏻

I can’t believe that they let you touch a community bottle top on the spot on your hand where you’ve been licking every single sauce!🤢🤮

Far too much to show in a short video... Anyone remotely close should take the self guided tour at Avery Island, seeing the whole of the production, the salt mine, barrel making, and the entirety of the museum. The McIlhenny family obviously takes great pride in their history, and current operations. The self guided tour, all of the factory and ground I was able to see are immaculately maintained. Staff all seemed genuinely engaged in the service of their guests (us!). The museum is a true museum, not just a few artifacts, but an entire building full of the history of the family, the company and Avery Island culture. It is evident that the McIlhennys took care of their employees, and in turn the employees took great care of the company. The company store lets you get any flavor of sauce, some of which are not available in North America at any other site. And, (adult beverage warning) the Bloody Mary at 1868 is to die for, and with the items at the Bloody Mary fixin's bar, you can literally make a meal from the drink!
Well worth the price of admission, a must see if you're anywhere close by. Don't forget to visit New Iberia, St. Martinsville, and Breau Bridge!
