I don’t really wear sheers but I have wanted to know more about them in general like how to apply, what they are supposed to look like, etc. So I really appreciate this video. Maybe I’ll try one out. Be nice to have one for certain occasions like a baptism or some other time where wearing a dainty manicure would most appropriate.

I know you did a video of your favorite opaque light pinks 7 years ago but it’s time for an updated one now for summer! You have so many great application tips in this video! You’ve convinced me to try sheer colors.
If you use Dazzle Dry sheers the process is so much quicker- the polish dries in 1 minute, and the top coat is super shiny and 100% drying 5 minutes- as in you can do anything, put sheets on a bed, dishes..will not mess up your mani AND it will last for weeks. Try it, I'd love you to review DD!
Great video. I have some sheers mainly from Essie but just never wear them. This video and your tips have definitely inspired me to dig them out and give them a go. Would love to see this types of videos as a series. Thanks

Inside scoop was my first essie gel couture polish ever, and probably the first bottle I will manage to finish completely before losing it or letting it dry up! I absolutely love the cool tone on my pale skin!

Just trying Onside Scoop for the first time- because of this video. I love it!! I’m always scared of sheers because I have ridge short nails, but it applies so well that 4coats looks nice and clean, and dries really evenly and well!!

Wearing Ballet Slippers right now, and I finally found a way for it NOT to look streaky - I applied a couple of layers of a sheer white GEL polish, cured it, THEN, applied a couple layers of Ballet Slippers 😊 Came out perfect bc the gel nail polish “dries” so smoothly, providing the perfect base. No streaks whatsoever, and the white brightens up the pale pink 😊 This will be my go-to Spring/Summer nail look!
Yes! I have ridged nails too, so this works perfectly for a gorgeous lay of the polish

I did nails for a very long time and it was one of my passions, along with being an aesthetician. But working with them were mostly a pain way back then, save a few (I used OPI). What an great, thorough video you've made, truly explaining the intricacies of painting with sheers. I've always been in love with the "look" of sheers, but the Essie Gel Couture line has rocked my world. lol They're my everyday staple, now that I don't do others' nails daily. New trend alert: lip gloss nails. it never ends, but I'm into it! :)
I am a reformed gel nail polish wearer, as I was tired of the cost and nail damage. I started out with Essie and had difficulty applying it- it was thick and streaky, and hard for a novice. I tried the gel couture line and love it. Any streaks seem to melt away after a few seconds and I’m able to apply it without much flooding. Thank you for your tips. I do have a question- why use a sheer when you put on 4 coats to make it opaque? Why not use an opaque in a similar color? Thanks.

Love this video! I have probably over a dozen sheer pinks so I share your sheer pink love. I want to add that, for me, sheer polishes tend to last way longer on my nails than creams. The sheers don't chip like the creams (which have more pigment and a different formula) tend to do. I also only do two coats of polish, so maybe that's another factor that helps with longevity for me. One last thing I want to say is that the colours of those polishes look more different from each other in person vs. on camera. I have all the Essie sheers you mentioned. P.S. How could you leave out Vanity Fairest from this list????!
Sheer pinks are my favorite for my toes! (I know that may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't usually like bright colors on my toes) I have so many, but Strawberry Scone and Sheer Fantasy are my two faves! I've wanted Inside Scoop for awhile, this might be my sign to grab it!
I love the tip to hold the brush practically parallel to the nail! Also, do you know how Mademoiselle compares to Skinny Dip?

Great video! My favorite top coat to date is Essie GC Top Coat. I like that it doesn't shrink, once completely dry is fully hardened, wears well and is thick enough without being stringy. I have not tried G&G top coat yet - how do you feel it is different than Essie GC top coat?

Hi laurie looove your videos, can you find the time to do one for white translucide nail polish ? I used to have the most beautiful one in 1981 to 1986 (maybe you weren’t born) : Blanc St-Tropez from Orlane, people were stopping me to know what it was… i don’t like white polish that looks like liquid paper…
I am usually wearing Sugar Daddy from Essie or their strengthner Minimally Modest. It looks like Gossamer Garments could be the closest gel couture in color. Does anyone know if that is correct or not?
How do you stop the sheers from discolouring after a couple of days wear. ? I love sheers for summer but they cause me so much work due to them becoming cloudy on the surface after a couple of days.
How do I keep sheers from looking streaky?
What i the purpose of using a sheer polish if you don't want to see the nail line? Wouldn't it be easier to use semi sheer or opaque?
I personally love to use only 2 coats of these sheers, as I want to see my nail through those gorgeous colours. It looks so chic and elegant. I guess it's personal preference?
