    Hondas use the aircon to add load to the engine to build heat for the DPF regen process. One of those great things with modern cars, the tyres flat causes the radio to stop working

    As a Honda owner of 32 years this is why I learned in the last few years ago to avoid the Dealerships they charge an arm and a leg for stuff that the independent guys can do for far less I have a 2019 CRV petrol model bought from Honda the first two dealer services were expensive for what you got £400 there a bout's I then discovered they were overfilling the oil at service, I had to go back to have some oil drained off, Honda don't do that they have to do a full change , crazy on my last service I decided to use the local independent garage in the village for the service they were top notch and charged far far less, Honda quoted me £100 for a pollen cabin filter , the local garage quoted me £20. Just goes to show what the stealer ships get away with charging. Love Honda cars just distrust the dealerships intensely.

      I agree, I only use a Honda dealer when I absolutely have to. Mostly for parts but I tend to order them directly from Japan now for a fraction of Honda UK prices.

    Anti shutter valve ( ASV ) is also a usual suspect for regeneration not activating on honda vehicles, connected to the throttle body, I believe the flap only activates during regeneration and when it jams air still gets through and the DPF can’t get hot enough.
    About 3k for a new one fitted and yes the pressure sensors are over £500. Bad battery is also a suspect on these for a failed regen but on the Laiter model to this one 2016 ish.

    It's annoying how many unrelated issues can prevent a normal regeneration, which is not alerted to the driver until it's too late. Almost like they want the DPF to block regularly.

    Exclamation mark after DPF picture (on mark 4 CRV at least) means even a run down motorway won’t cure it, the DPF has to be re-set etc. If just DPF sign on Honda it needs a run down motorway 🛣️ ideally 20mins or more.

    I once removed a dpf from a corsa, and despiste not looking too blocked with soot, I was surprised how hard it was to blow through it. Not a surprise turbos nowadays fail very often. Guess some of the codes from people drilling the dpf core, are detected by the ECU, because there is a drop in back pressure.

  • @mickl8212

    I thought the AC had to be working on these for a forced regen but not normal driving? I haven't had the AC turned on on my 2.2 iDTEC for over a month.

    • @ORileysAutos
      @ORileysAutos  Рік тому +1

      You don't have to turn it on. The ECU will engage the AC clutch and fans

    • @mickl8212
      @mickl8212 Рік тому

      @@ORileysAutos so the AC needs to be working for active regeneration as well as forced regeneration on these Hondas? Obviously not for passive regeneration as this happens naturally.
      I think I'll plug my Honda Diagnostic System into the car and look at the PM values.
      RE the DPF pressure differential sensor, I wonder if it's possible to retrofit a different make to the car? As long as it's giving out the correct voltage signals to the ECU, that could possibly work.

    • @DasArab
      @DasArab Рік тому

      @@ORileysAutos Jimmy another AC question. I noticed in this video you mention the AC isnt working, but if you look at the dashboard the external temp is 4c. IIRC the AC doesnt work as a "Chiller" at below 5c. Would the fans still run?

    • @mickl8212
      @mickl8212 10 місяців тому

      @@ORileysAutos on my Civic 2.2 idtec, it's been doing an active regen today. The fans were on and it was hot under the bonnet (increased temp from the regen) but the AC compressor clutch wasn't engaged.
      So I wonder if the Civic is different? I know it only has one pipe for the differential pressure sensor whereas the Accord and CRV have two. Maybe they changed something on the Civic?
      Also, the oil level, on mine it's on the full mark but it's still doing regens???

      @jsvadj 7 місяців тому +2

      Hi there, this is 2 months old so you may have found an answer.
      On my CRV i had exactly the same issue. In my case i had 2 bad injectors that were overfuelling the engine causing alot of soot to clog the DPF, in the end i just replaced the whole engine for a better one (£300+ per injector, got a CRV engine for £650 with alot less miles on it)
      You have to figure out why is the DPF getting clogged in first place. Is it ash? or soot? and if it is soot, what causes it?
