Awesome episode, as always. You guys really do carry an interesting conversation and it's nice for us PA fans to get to know each of you a little more outside of gaming. Speaking of which: Star Trek: Legacy and Elite Force 1&2 were great games. I'd be surprised if Nath and Dave hadn't played all 3.😊
Speaking of unofficial Star Treks, have any of you guys checked out The Orville? I have Star Trek TNG on my backlog and it's only there because I enjoyed The Orville and hearing how some Star Trek fans enjoyed it as well.
As problematic as this film can be, I remember after Generations and First Contact (which I absolutely loved FC), my friends and I were really noticing the difference between the TNG show and films and missing the style of the show and characters a bit. So even though Insurrection is not my favorite ST movie, I love that it feels most like the tv show out of all the movies with the characters, sets, and stories, only on a bigger screen and bigger budget. For that reason alone, I will always at least enjoy it as much as I can, no apologies. But yes, for my non Star Trek friends, I would show them first contact instead in a heartbeat!
It felt like an episode I'd already seen a hundred times. I also find the primitive hemp-dressed-people episodes the most boring. Stretching one into a film was a terrible idea. It's Star Trek, I don't want to watch an Amish village for 2 hours.
I was super disappointed in this movie when it came out. The story was assembled out of old plot devices from TV episodes and the whole thing came across as very flat, boring, and risk-averse. Which was totally on-brand for Rick Berman.

Nath was demoted, last episode he was Commander, this episode he's a Lieutenant
The episode where Picard lives an entire life is called The Inner Light and is one of the best episodes of TNG

I think the obvious recommendation based on this movie is Bioshock, especially the medical pavilion area.
Re: Worf - this intersects with DS9, so it's referenced (Dominion War) but also almost completely ignored 😆

Rob really should've told the Mrs he had work to do . . . though "I have Star Trek to watch" is more than enough
RIP Total Film having announced their last ever issue this month
It was initially meant to be like Apocalypse Now, with Data being like Colonel Kurtz. What we got was a watered down TV episode. It's just meh.

Thanks for the spoiler warning on the 26 year old film
Rob - to help you out, DS9 is like Babylon5, but worse
