i'm very glad that Peter Cullen was able to influence, and talk his pal, colleague Frank Welker into finally coming out to meet the fans, to start attending conventions, because Frank Welker is known for being very private, quite reclusive, met Peter Cullen at BotCon like 7 years ago, but sadly have not met Frank Welker yet, hopefully I can meet Frank Welker someday, and Peter Cullen again to get a few more things signed.
Frank Welker wasn't just private about his life, he was an introvert; meaning that he wouldn't talk to anybody, not even to his co-workers during the days of Transformers G1. He would however only talk to one person, and that was Peter Cullen. It's poetic irony that Optimus Prime and Megatron are bitter enemies yet their respective voice actors are best friends, practically brothers.

@@MasterJunior93 I'm like that too being a private person who doesn't go out and dealing with people either due to major depression and anxiety but I will do anything to go to any convention in Australia just to meet him like I did with Peter Cullen back in 2014. Was meant to go up to Sydney for a convention where Peter was a guest and was looking forward to catching up with him but the convention was cancelled thanks to the big bushfires happening at the time. And I had just moved into my new house and still adjusting stuff so maybe it was also a good thing. One thing getting me through the current situation and after gone through a few rough years is that I will meet both of them soon I hope.
Peter Cullen is a legend
He used to sound like John DiMaggio.
While he will always be the definitive voice of Optimus Prime and the best Eeyore, I find it remarkable that he used to be such a prolific voice actor in the 80's and 90's.
Peter Cullen is one of the best voice actors of all time 👍

I keep forgetting, Peter Cullen was huge in the cartoon landscape of the 80s. He was the 80s equivalent of what John DiMaggio was in the 2000s and still is, the go-to-go guy for deep, badass baritones.

@@imarock.7662 Hmm? I have a question 🤔. I myself have been making a list/book of my favorite voice actors of all time and all of it is with traditional voice actors who are pros at it. Like Frank Welker, Peter Cullen, Charlie Adler, Tress Macneille, Clancy Brown, and Rob Paulsen. Lately I've been questioning whether to put actors who are not voice actors, but have done voice acting in other movies or TV shows and have distinctive and great voices. I'm saying people like James Earl Jones, Christopher Lee, Samuel L Jackson, Christopher Plummer, and James Woods. The rule that I came up with is they need to have no more than 10 or more voice acting credits in their resume. And the names I've listed have. Do you think I should include them or not?
I wished Peter Cullen should do voicing other characters outside of optimus prime and eeyore he is great voice actor and has impressive vocal range I wished he do more than just voicing main character of transformers and recurring character of Winnie the Pooh for the longest time Peter Cullen hasn’t been done so voice over in none-transformers and none-Winnie the Pooh franchise since what I think is megas xlr where last time he voiced a character outside of optimus prime and eeyore
Upon realizing Peter Cullen did the voice over work for Toonami, I see that he had me in grips from cradle to grave haha

Wow, this guy was all over 80s cartoons! Lots of great voices. Monty from Rescue Rangers was probably my favorite.
That redheaded character from Scooby Doo was so weird. Kind of seemed like they were going for an Ed Grimley type.

Not surprising that he did so many commercial voices, he honestly sounds like the guy you hear in a lot of those old commercials even tho only the He-Man one featured here and the Toonami ones were actually him. I wonder what other voice actors were asked to do commercials.

Was surprised to learn he voiced King Kong in the 70's movie re-make. Anyway, nobody could've voiced Optimus Prime quite like he did. He gave Optimus Prime a sort of benevolent-yet-authoritative father-figure vibe that many kids could relate to. Anyone else would've done the character a great disservice. He's an icon for those of us who came of age in the 80's.

Peter Cullen as Optimus is like Robin Williams as the Genie, or Tom Kenny as SpongeBob; no one else could be the voice of Prime but Peter.
If Peter Cullen's portfolio is updated once more, it should include the "Power Masters" mini-series (if it can be found).
Peter's a talent, being both Bruce and Hulk, Mysterio, Red Skull, the Predator Arnold fought, Optimus, Monty, he's not as close to Frank, but still amazing

This man’s voice never gets old.
He’s a fantastic and versatile voice actor, but yeah, he’ll always be Optimus Prime to me.
It's official, Brad Garrett, Peter Cullen and Greg Burger are the only surviving voice actors to play Eeyore in Winnie The Pooh, granted Bud Lucky did a very decent job, but those three good gentlemen will always be Eeyore to me.
Don’t forget about Mackey McSlime and the Abominable Snowman from Disney’s Bonkers and Bertram the horse, as well as Sir Hubert Blunt from Dragon’s Lair.
His voice is more than meets the ear.

Call me crazy but i don't know why i find Smoggy the Bear's Coughing very Funny but like Pete the Big Freight Engine from The Little Engine That Could 1991 He coughs alot too. They must have had the idea for that.

The perfect voice actor for optimus prime
Ok, if they got him to be an announcer for various anime shows via Toonami, then why couldn't they get him to voice a character in anime?
He did Ramrod, Saber Rider, and Voltron.
Although at this point he's pretty damn old and is so heavily associated with Optimus that not a lot of people would cast him.
It's the same issue Elias Toufexis ran into after working on Deus Ex.
Because anime dubbing in the US are paid much less than domestic cartoons. So it's not worth it for someone of his talent. The only exceptions were Hayao Miyazaki's movies whose dubbing was funded by Pixar CEO John Lassetter, in fact Peter voiced the general in Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Sarah H. I follow Tara Strong on Instagram and I found out she died last year on July 27th 2017 and I did my research on her death and found out she died on the 26th. It just baffles me that nobody cares about June Foray despite her influence to the industry.
Jonny Boy ohhhh. I understand. She was a wonderful person and I hope she’s at peace.
Sarah H. Yeah. She was this close to living up to 100 and despite her death and people dont give her as much credit as Tara Strong or Mel Blanc which just drives me bats. Now, she may not be one of my personal favorites, but I believe people should acknowledge her importance and influence to the voice acting industry because if it wasnt for her, we would never have any stand alone female voice over greats we have today.

One of the few voice actors whose talent self-competed. Was on "Ghost Busters" & "The Real Ghostbusters". "Voltron" & "The Transformers". For crying out loud, he worked with Warner Bros' Mel Blanc (Heathcliff) AND Disney! 😯

He said it did, which is why he was initially reluctant to voice the Predator, the director told him he didn’t have to do the big roars like he did for Kong, so he based the Predator call on a gurgling horseshoe crab he saw.
I want footage of these actors doing their grunts and growls. That, I imagine, would be hilarious.

Kind of a shame he doesn't do a lot of voice acting anymore. He was actually going to reprise the role of Eeyore for the 2011 Winnie the Pooh film, but scheduling conflicts with "Dark of the Moon" prevented him.
But rumors said that he'll come back again on upcoming Rise of the Beasts movie

You’re not wrong. But Jim voiced him for Seasons 2-3... Peter voiced him in Season 1. So Peter was the original Monterey.

Outside animation, Peter Cullen did voice overs in movie trailers and TV and home video commercials for NBC, ABC, CBS, Cartoon Network’s Toonami and even a commercial for the world of Warcraft video game.
I am such a Eeyore fanatic, i just Love his voice it makes everything sound so important that you just have to STOP and Listen. Thank You so much Mr. Peter for all you do.( and I've been around 62 years)

Nobody can replace Peter Cullen and Frank Welker voice, they are best of all times better the new generation of voice actors.
I got to meet him when he was attending a comic fest in Australia. Getting excited and not thinking twice, I asked to hear him do his voice of Monterey Jack from Rescue Rangers. Embarrassed but amused at the same time, he kindly obliged.
