Don’t forget the BlackFace expression pusha t showed us. Since he’s y’all goat.
I gotta go with Kanye. His influence was just as big in the 2010s than it was in the 2000s. MBDTF, Watch The Throne, TLOP, YEEZUS. He produced for so many big rappers and and really set the tone for most of the decade. Impactful AF. Once in a lifetime artist

Great is an overstatement imo. He hasn't done anything revolutionary and hasn't been much innovative. Though I agree dude has put out good projects but so have many other artists. I'm not calling him trash or anything but dude also isn't good enough for the f*cking Rushmore.
Also talking about influence so he has had almost none. Name one decent artist who has J Cole influence over his projects. Dude also hasn't done anything genre bending too, his projects get very formulaic for me.
Imo Tyler deserves the spot way more than him. He was the leader of Odd Future. The influence that group had is simply undeniable. His albums though all not being top notch but have been extremely innovative. His last 3 albums have been great. All 3 have been completely different from each other and his innovativeness is remarkable.

Like you don’t get Travis without Cudi and theirs many more like that also his appeal to people who weren’t interested in hip hop that much. Was probably the first person on his level to open up about regular problems and struggles that young people go through. Cudi feels like a big brother to me. Kendrick, Drake, Nicki and Cole makes the most sense for me. Not including Kanye because I think it's more fair to keep it in that generation
I think with how young rap as a genre is, Chief Keef is debatably the MOST influential rapper of all time. He changed how rap sounds with heavy 808 trap beats and melodic rapping. I’d put him on any rap Mount Rushmore because of the influence he’s had on today’s sound.
But he is trash lyricist and cant rap good

There are three types of Mt. Rushmore imo, like there is Hip Hop, and Rap like Mt. Rushmore of rap in the 2010s is Drake, Kendrick, J. Cole, and Ye, In Influence, it's Tyler, Thug, Juice, and Peep In culture then Yung Lean, X, Playboi, Cudi. If there was a 5th I'd put mac on all of those especially the Main rushmore there is more than one kind because rap as a whole is a very vague term because what can you consider rap and hip hop i think there is different types for each subgenres kendrick still the goat,
I like this breakdown Jason!
100% agreed
imo u can’t have Kendrick and Cole in a Mount Rushmore because their style is very similar. Constructing a Mount Rushmore u should have 4 people who best represent the biggest subgenres in hiphop. (pop, Drake. lyrical, Kendrick. Trap, Future. Emotional and Angry, XXXTENTACION.) u could argue that there should be a drill artist but imo Emotional rap is more popular considering that drill doesn’t chart as high.
- Drake. He was the rapper that dominated the charts in 2010s, and most his albums are great in every crucial aspect: lyrically, vocally, production, overall sound and versatility.
- Kendrick. No doubt Kendrick is the best and most consistent lyrical rapper. And while doing this it sounds amazing too. He experimented with Jazz, Rock and Pop and he seems to be able to do these styles effortlessly.
- Future. Future introduced rapping about nothing and still making something sound amazing to the mainstream. He influenced the biggest trap artists rn, plus he has songs with deeper meaning about for example his drug use or relationship problems. Trap is without a doubt one of the biggest hiphop genres atm and he was a big influence in this.
- XXXTENTACION. X is the most underrated artist of the 2010s. 1. He made 2 sub genres mainstream/popular (emo rap and scream rap). 2. His musical abilities are overlooked by a lot of people because a lot of his songs are SoundCloud only, he was able to write actual stories very well and he chose instrumentals based on their compositions. 3. He has a major emotional impact on a lot of people, myself included.
Im not including Kanye because his most influential albums are before the 2010s (IMO) he would be the best artist on the list if he would be on it tho

joey is a good artist but he hasnt done anything innovative, not much influential or new for rap especially for today. Love the Roc Marciano mention Bro 😎 very cool u guys have solid taste. But I left YE off because he releases his best music of the 2000’S late Registration he’s in last generation MT Rushmore same with Wayne, Em etc...
here mine
Freddie Gibbs king of melodic Gangsta rap music his arrangement of beats, Lyrics flow patterns, he’s an absolute beast especially from his cold hard day in Hell!
Kendrick Lamar His way of flowing on any type of production; pure songwriting & artistry goes beyond Rap music; he’s like the modern day Curtis mayfield when it comes to album consistency. Lyricism is so potent
Drake the most popular & trending musician u can go outside of the U.S it’s a array of folks playing a drizzy song from Fancy, over, best I ever had, Headlines, hotline bling etc.. even though Cole should be on here same with KRIT they would be honorable mentions because they’re better lyricist than drake this more of the matter of whom people consume more.
Tyler The Creator Is one of the more unique rappers especially from the odd future camp; his way going from Horrorcore, boom bap, Pop rap, Funk music so seamlessly without missing a beat is very dope.
Had to mention Marciano, one of the most influential artists of the last decade🙏 also respect for mentioning Tyler, love how he's always pushing boundaries and standing out!

I think big Sean was suppose to be up there but he fizzled out
I like J Cole but he shouldn't be on here. He's a good artist and has created a nice market for himself but he is not really memorable nor influential and hasn't really changed the game. I'd put Nicki for influencing a whole generation of female rappers even if they'll never admit it and Kanye because he continues to change the game.
Ik I’m late but this is the worst take I’ve heard in a while. J cole certainly was influential artist and you don’t have to change a genre to make an impact. You don’t understand how influential 2014 FHD was when it came out and it continues to keep a high bar compared to newer Kanye albums and any niki albums. Not even mentioning the concept albums he’s released and how put together they are on a lyrical level. I’m not even that type of guy but it’s disrespectful to have this opinion 🤷♂️
