I still play the Bad Meets Evil album. Its a classic for me. Came out during first year of college
Fr same, above the law is my fav
I loveee Em but that album was full of songs that get old pretty quick. He loves that hip-pop sound and unfortunately (fortunately) pop comes and gos quicker than a one night
Even though it was just a mixtape, Live.Love.A$AP was legendary. Everyone loved that man.
I hated it
@@Meltymorty poor you
@@syox3667not poor me poor all the ppl who think its a good album A$AP is one of the worst artist from NY
@@Meltymorty coming from a guy who think yelawolf had one of the best albums from 2011☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️to each thier own
Michael Myers clown
Take Care was my introduction to Drake and is still his best imo. It has such a classic feel and i think Drake balances and perfected the R&B/Rap fusion with that project.
Same
Hot take but the Carter 4 is legit my favorite album. A ton of good choices but for me the amount of bangers on this are unmatched. She will, blunt blowin, 6 foot 7 foot, president Carter, how to love, megaman, John, mirror. Honestly I still listen to all these songs especially 5 of them regularly today
Agreed! I still remember when it got released and how much I wore out my repeat button listening to the entire album
Carter III is better imo
@@nba_dooooor not a bad take by any means, I love C3 as well. It’s right behind C4 for me personally but I wouldn’t push back on someone saying it’s his best.
Yo every time y’all post it makes my day most of my friends don’t listen to hip hop so I like hearing you guys talk and I feel like I’m talking with you guys thank you 🙏
I’m happy you enjoy the show, we’re building a really dope community and we’re happy you’re a part of it Steve🙏
Same thing ✋
Sideline story is a top 3 cole album. Lights please is so underrated
That’s his best album to me
Thank you for this comment, i been saying this for so long and finally found somone to agree with, lights please and rise and shine are my top 2 tracks in the album
I don’t really like that album at all I only really liked lights please and lost ones
Sideline Story legit the worst project Cole has dropped lol you craY
Man people sleep on sideline story and born sinner, but born sinner was too long and I think it’s still better than yeezus
Even though it’s a mixtape it’s basically a album but Big K.R.I.T return of 4Eva
W
@Mr. Socially Awkward man more people should talk about Big K.R.I.T
Good ass mixtape
Krit is so overlooked so consistent and 4eva is a mighty long time and return of 4eva are some of my personal favorites
@@mehdizaidi4864 naw bro I can't get into krit
Goated list. Undun is a straight up classic
Same with Take Care and WTT
Bro your videos are sick
@@mehdizaidi4864 Thanks, I appreciate the love
Section 80 was crazyyy … Ronald Reagan era might still be my favourite ever Kendrick track
Still listen to Rolling papers today! Takes me back to high school
You guys forgot Danny Brown's XXX album which is without a doubt considered a classic! Incredible rapping and one of the most innovative albums of the last decade.
Dawg that’s not a classic
@@pipeyagrangran5771 maybe it isn't but Atrocity Exhibition certainly is
@@tvdurdurs554 that ain’t either 💀💀
@@pipeyagrangran5771 Thats your opinion but you're objectively wrong both are critically acclaimed *skull emoji*
@@pipeyagrangran5771 nah bro you wilding or you just don’t like that type of hip hop. Which is fine. But Danny opened doors for Earl Sweatshirt, JPEGMAFIA, Danny Woods and others for that raw, punk , electronic, experimental Hip Hop. XXX is undoubted a classic, and it because of its experimental production and flows it stood the test of time.
I feel like Cole World: The Sideline Story was not received well back in the day, but it's aged so well. Now I think a lot of people are propping it up as a classic because of how it sounds now.
Take Care to me is drake’s best album for sure the track list on take care is crazy
Yup. Nothing even comes close
@@jmoney4220 ... I can name 50 albums
@@aronistak8156 Drake has over 50 albums. Dang I never knew that
@@aronistak8156 lmao that year are you crazy ????? 2011 drake takes it literally nothing you could say to argue.
Nothing was the same is drake best album...
Thanks for this insane content 👌🏿
Section.80 😳 Wow, every time I listen to this album, especially to Tammy's Song, I have goosebumps every time
Thanks for the love John🙏 Section .80 is definitely a classic!
Looking forward to a Lil Wayne album or mixtape ranking!
Bad Meets Evil was insane 😭😭😭
W for the Rolling Papers praise
Unpopular opinion sideline story was a solid album I know the majority hated this album but that album proved you don’t need big singles to sell. It debuted number 1 on the charts.
Would you not consider Work Out q big single? Genuinely curious
@@alexfurmark cant get enough was big too
Side line story is one of my favorite albums
Cole: Sideline Story definitely aged really well not as respected back then but it definitely is now a classic during that decade
I'm really into metal and extreme music, but have always dabble in rap and hip-hop. This channel is single-handedly rekindling my interest in hip hop - well this channel and Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers, that is. I really appreciare how much passion, knowledge, and sophistication (a real kind, not fake) you both have. Your charismatic and both really charming. Right on. Thanks for all of the content.
There were so many different styles blowing up back in 2011. You had no idea where the sound of the industry would go and that’s why it was such an awesome time for hip hop.
Facts!! Now we in the wack ass 2020s where everybody looks and sounds the fucking same. TRAGIC
my favorite hip hop album from 2011 gotta be take care
Camp from Childish Gambino is underrated as hell. Great album from 2011.
This video is one of you guys best just describing each album with depth and more even allowing people to see the importance of each
Great podcast! Love videos like these!!
In my opinion The Sideline Story is a Classic Album. I mean you’ve got songs on there like Lost Ones, Work Out, Lights Please, In The Morning, Sideline Story, Cant Get Enough, it’s just a super stacked TrackList and some of these songs are still in my rotation occasionally. On a personal level it’s a classic for me. Love the rest of the list with the albums u guys chose but for me it’s the sideline story and Watch The Throne. By the way did u guys here the snippet of baby Keems new single?!?!? Kendricks on it!
great debut from cole. i feel like there are a couple songs that are just filler, cole didn't need to put them in there. i blame jay z on that. ever since, he has made little to no skip projects.
Great album needs more like influence, consistent theme, bringing something new to the game to be considered a classic
@@ronnypooky very true I agree there are filler songs.
@@Realmadridfan309 Agreed but I’m talking on a personal level. Your right in the sense there is no consistency when it comes to the theme I totally agree there. I totally agree with you on most of your points but for me I just remember being super young and listening to this album sneaking it from my parents because they didn’t want me listening to that stuff yet 😂. It just brings back great memories in my life and that’s why for me it’s a personal Classic.
I feel like Cole ain’t get his props on sideline story, who dat was a hit, in the morning wit drake hit...shit I still would like to hear more Drake and Cole songs
You already know it’s a NFR classic
Poe Mans Dreams is so underrated I love this hook so much
Smoke good eat good live good
Smoke good, eat good, live good
Watched a few of your videos...totally dig ya'll.....just gotta new fan.....I'll be tuned in
Great video guys! Jus forgot finally famous by big
Y’all gotta do this for 2016!
Didn't expect that number 1 pick! But definitely agree that it's one of the greatest concept albums of our time.
I think Coles Sideline Story is my favorite from that year, theres so many bangers on there
People sleep on that album
Nice, finally found a podcast that actually talks about hiphop music!
I love the Carter 4. He was still my fav rapper at that time. I liked John, She will, President Carter
LOVE YOUR CONTENT ❤❤
Could’ve done this same video with mixtapes too! There was so many classic tapes that owned 2010 like Live Love A$AP, KIDS, and Return of 4Eva
Rocky had a huge year in 2011! What’s your favorite mixtape from that year?
@@NFRPodcast EASILY House of Balloons if we’re counting that!! Also I just followed you guys on insta that’s so awesome drizzy follows y’all keep up the good work👍
My favorite albums/mixtapes from 2011 are LIVE.LOVE.A$AP, Watch the Throne and Take Care.
Dope!
There were quite a few good albums in 2011. I liked Jeezy’s album a lot too
great list! I just subscribed.
I loved the Rolling Papers album. I was a huge Wiz Khalifa fan back then. No sleep was a moment in time for me lots of good memories
You guys are the fucking bomb. Best hiphop podcast on earth 💯💯💯
Take care best album that year a super classic
Lol yall gotta cover the DONDA stem player stuff its crazy as hell and means we’re probably getting the album Friday
best podcast keep it up
Great episode keep it up guys but I think that it is impossible to make this list without death grips exmilitary it was so influential and groundbreaking I know it’s probably to experimental for u guys and u don’t like or understand it but objectively he should be included
Finally some appreciation for Rolling Papers
Take care is masterpiece 💙💙
Love from India 💙
i love this channel
My ranking:
1. Drake - Take Care
2. Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
3. Lil Wayne - Tha Carter IV
4. JAY-Z & Kanye West - Watch The Throne
5. J. Cole - Cole World: The Sideline Story
6. Wiz Khalifa - Rolling Papers
7. Bad Meets Evil - Bad Meets Evil: Hell, the Sequel
8. The Roots - Undun
Rolling papers is amazing imo. Wiz mad underated.
Why does no one talk about the interlude with tech and Andre crazy fire
Not a single wasted bar on Undun. Every word paints the picture of a desperate man who has delved too far, doing crazy, dark and fucked up shit without even knowing the reason anymore. Black Thought and every feature on this album did their job perfectly. 10/10 classic
Where you get the two extra tracks on sideline story ?
I got to disagree when you kept watch the throne over take care. Even though watch the throne is a Collab album of 2 massively successful hip-hop artists who are also very influential, take care combines such fantastic sounds and makes the album so astonishing. however, I do respect you guys' opinion.
Great video, great year! Section 80 was #1 for me and agree ASAP Rocky could have made this list.
Are y'all doing the Weeknd album??? Or just rap albums
Haven’t watched the vid yet but I feel like Goblin should be an honourable mention
Pls do something for 2012 guys! Gonna be a great series
Nice !
I agree with number #1
Undun is a masterpiece!
Damn you put the carter 4 and take care under watch the throne
You cant talk about 2011 without mentioning Mac Miller’s culturally loved blue slide park an album that was the first ever making century history by being the first album to go number 1 independently without a label. Insane record breaking.
I love Mac Miller and he’s been a huge influence in my life, but I cannot say that Blue Slide Park is a good album lol yes it did numbers and broke records but it was a bad album.
Bonus songs on wtt are so good
I think you forgot House of Balloons. An all time classic. Game changing mixtape.
LEGENDARY
this era reminds me of the fall
You guys are the best of the best
Appreciate the love!
also drake & ross both got a verse on she will unofficial remix
Carter 4 is when his content was subject to opinion prior weezy was undeniable there was NO question like No other rapper mattered in his prime
Rolling papers was one of my personal favourites from the whole 2010s
We here again, cultured men's!
In my opinion Kendrick got 3 classics so far: section 80, gkmd, tpab because of the influence of his content matter, his perspective and rappers who today are being influenced by him. Drake has 2: so far gone and take care because he was one of the top artist to make being emotional/ venting/ rapping and singing cool. Which influence damn near the whole generation. Even tho I love I Cole I don’t think he has a classic but really amazing albums and mixtapes. Because I can’t name what influence he’s had he terms of writing, sounds etc for a particular album
2011 was a good year for music.
I think that Take Care should be number 1
Top 3 songs off the album?
@@NFRPodcast easy
1. Marvins Room
2. The Motto
3. Headlines
You should do 2016 next, Blonde, Rodeo, etc
That would be dope!
Watch The Throne is number 1 for me. Top 10 of the decade. Murder to Excellence the most important rap song in 10 years hot take.
Where're XXX by Danny Brown, Bon Iver by Bon Iver, Nostalgia Ultra by Frank Ocean, Trilogy by The Weeknd, James Blake by James Blake, Born this Way by Lady Gaga, and Live Love ASAP?
What happened to the Weeknd HOB? Im surprised it did not make it all.
I personally would have put Cole and Carter IV over Bad Meets Evil but that's just me
edit: respect for Undun #1. The Roots are something else
Wayne a top tier lyricist
My top albums from 2011 ones I returned to the most Ik most would think take care or sideline story those are good albums 👍 not knocking anyone who has them on their for me it’s more of personal taste.
1. Kendrick Lamar Section 80
2. Evidence Cats & Dogs
3. The Roots Undun
4. Danny Brown XXX
5. Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover Camp
President Carter is my favorite Wayne song of all time
facts yo😂 all these rappers that claim they influenced by wayne but cant be creative & witty like him😂😂
4eva is a mighty long time can be considered a classic
Take Care 1🏆 followed by Long Live Asap imo. 2011 is most def a classic year though
The carter 4 wayne still had bars but his high pitch flow took a front seat and I think it turned a lot of people off He had it on carter 3 too but another level on 4 and not in a good way
If Take Care ain’t number one I ain’t hearing this list and yes I’ve heard undun and WTT.
See I feel like it’s slept on
Watch the throne is my 1
20:58 my nigga. Even though personally I would switch ADHD for Ronald Reagan Era.
My friends and I still bump sideline story
Great album is it one of Cole’s best for you?
@@NFRPodcast it’s up there for sure a lot I have a lot of memories with it
you need to do a 2018 hip hop albums ranking. there's just too many bangers
30:20 i love Look what you've done
No love for Danny Browns XXX?
Rolling papers a great album Wiz definitely inspired a lot of rappers in the smoke rapper era like he said A stoner classic
Rolling papers and ONIFC are classics for sure
Respect for bad meets evil
Hyfr is my favorite song off of Take Care
It still amazes me how fast drake rapped on that song. That’s the fastest he’s ever rapped on a song. It just shows how versatile drake is.
Also the reason why living so Italian wasn’t on watch the Throne is because they couldn’t clear the sample
1. Asap Rocky- Live.Love.ASAP
2. Danny Brown- XXX
3. Drake- Take Care
4. Kendrick Lamar- Section.80
5.Wale- Ambition
6.Jay-Z & Kanye West- WTT
7.Lil Wayne- Carter 4
8. Wiz Khalifa- Roll Up
9. The Game- The R.E.D. album
10. Big Sean- Finally Famous
11. Jeezy- TM:103
12. Bad Meets Evil- welcome to Hell:
13. Curren$y- Welcome to Bearnies
14. Tyler, The Creator- The Goblin
15. The Roots- UnDune
I would watch that logic vid
