Importing 8K RED Helium Files into Avid Media Composer

- We recently worked on an 8k project. Prior to filming, I didn't find a lot of information about what I should expect from the perspective of a post workflow. There were some flashy advertisements and promotions for AVID, but nothing from the average production company. So this is that tutorial. Learn what to expect when filming with the RED Helium 8k in an Avid Media Composer workflow.
this was very helpful thank you
Great video. I followed the steps and got the footage ingested but I can't see it for some reason. I can hear it though. The monitor buttons in the timeline next to V1 are turned on. It's something to do with it being RED footage because I imported my .mov proxies as regular footage and I can see those. Any ideas?
Great - except I think they renamed the Proxy mode button "Reduced Raster" in the latest version. Went crazy looking for it, but it seems to work the same. Am I right?
I haven't actually seen that yet. I'll check it out. Strange they would rename it something more... confusing. ha. But that's AVID. Thanks for the comment.
What Mac model did you use? CPU spex? How many fps are you getting on the debayers?
What’s the spec of your computer the cpu and gpu
There is huge Tech industry in the Netherlands, and M&E is a huge part of that.
Justice Liberty - Awesome! I was totally joking about what I said. Great news that there is a huge tech industry.
will it be different in the new update of 2019? thx
I have no clue yet. I'm hoping not. The promo they pushed out "looked" good. But to me, it looked like it was moving closer to what Premiere is. Makes me a little nervous, as I still have ptsd from when FCP "upgraded" to FCPX. Anyways, Once the newest update comes out, I will definitely try it out and let you know.
@@Cuemotion i actually think it will be amazing if it will be like premiere, it takes 2 sec to import the files into the timeline, and premiere support raw color grading which is really helpful if i dont have time to grade in resolve. also i hate that i need to move windows around, i want preset for each category like all new software does, its time saving and less mistakes along the way.
@@jonravid3234 If I wanted it to be like Premiere, I'd edit in Premiere.
