It is here, we try to find out how the SG balls, which is in use in India for more than 50 years, are manufactured and how different are these from the Duke balls and the Kookaburras. The debate has surfaced once again after the Indian captain Virat Kohli talked about bringing the duke balls for Indian conditions

He may be an ex cricket player and would have been in the business for 50 years, but Australia is super hot in summers. SG balls have detoriated in quality over the years and there is no question in that.

Krishnakumar Also he stated that the duke balls are for colder climates, however they are also used in the West Indies where the climate is hot in a similar way to the Indian climate.

SG and duke are similar in seam but shine in SG fades quicker than duke and kookaburra. This quality makes it better suited for spinners. In recent years leather quality has decreased but its still great for 50 overs. I have played with SG and kookaburra and kookaburra is better for batsmen. We have good spinners in India, so we shouldn't even consider bringing duke here. Plus SG is a lot cheaper than duke.

India's average temperature ranges between 32 and 40 degrees Celsius in Summer (with some areas exceeding 40 degrees Celsius). South Africa has temperatures that can also go up to 45 and 50 degrees Celsius. And usually ranges between 28 and 34 degrees Celsius (this summer though the interior ranged between 34 and 40 degrees Celsius). Many areas in Australia exceed temperatures of 48 degrees Celsius. Most of the interior regions exceed 35 degrees Celsius during Summer. With some consistently exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. So not sure why they use temperature as an excuse.

Hey, yep a fair bit of Australia can get that hot, mostly central Australia - but that's basically uninhabited, and if people live there, their closest neighbours are often incredibly fair. The coastal regions are much much cooler than Australia, our summer is most certainly not as hot.
