This is amazing! I buy most of my books used, and sometimes the paperbacks are pretty worn out, or the cover art isn't too pretty, so now I know what to do with them! I'll have to see where I can get this kind of board in my country, and test some types of glue I can get here, but I will definitely try this out! Thank you, you explained it really well and made it look possible for beginners!
This looks really easy, and the materials are accessible. I have a few paperback books that I want to convert to hardback because paperback books aren’t as durable. I can also see using this trick with paperback notebooks to make upscale journals.
I’d never even considered this as a possibility! This video caught my eye because I have the same copy of the NT! I also love that you put the vinyl sticker on your quad!! Great ideas!
Love the way you did them love it, very nice work, and I also loved the humor... As for the thick book, gave me ideas on a book a edited, and thank you so much for this video and the humor,... thank you..!!! *Yes, the card to spread the glue, buy the way I have the same glue... perfect.. way to even the glue, never thought of that again thank you... oh... you mentioned the chipboard yes costs a lot.. but I found a way.. get all kinds of binders... take the covering plastic off and there is the chipboard... even at flea markets of others.. so !!!
I thought it was a really cute video, loved the random comments where you were just being yourself. Whether I’ll do this later or not is something to be seen, but it was a good thing to watch/ learn. Thanks for the video. 😊👍
I just ACCIDENTLY bought a paperback Bible and I wanted to make it hardback. Did you do this procedure exactly and use acrylic background? I don't even know what that means. I'm just looking for some cheap way to make it more durable. Can you explain more in detail? Thank you.
Thanks for this video. I've rewatched it a bunch of times and have attempted to turn a paperback Bible into a hardcover. I now have my Bible sitting under a stack of a bunch of heavy Bibles. We'll see how it turns out! Now for some patience... lol
Thank you for your video in was inspirational! We collect books in our home & have many bookshelves filled along with stacks on our floors. We have several Bibles that are a bit worn out so if I get ambitious enough, I'll give them new covers like you did! God bless you!
Searching for ideas on this technique and having tried a few, I came across your video and really like it. Primarily because you don't use paste down sheets on the cover who which drive me crazy. I am anxious to try this. Thanks.
Thanks for this video, I have a well loved paper back bible I've had since I was teen and just wasn't ready to let it go. I looked for a tutorial to rescue my bible and found this. Your instructions were great! As of 4/16/21 at 5:31 pm mine is drying with weights on it. Can't wait to check it out tomorrow 😍
This is so awesome. I just purchased an old copy of "War and Peace" from a used book store. The cover is very obviously from the 60's. Did you put a title on the books? Or the title down the spine?
I didn’t come up with a good solution for a title! I think I’d love to put it on the spine but not sure what would look professional 🤔 I totally had the same dilemma!
@@thecandiedlemon7370 Better to remove the cover of the book and cut them to paste at the front, back and spine of the finished book. Easy to do with a hairdryer to heat up the spine before carefully pulling on the cover. With the cover gone, you put end papers both at the front and back of the book block. Strengthen the spine of the book with mull (super cloth) or calico paper with about 3/4 inch sticking out at the sides, which you paste to the book casing. Then you proceed to paste the end paper to the case just like what you did with the book cover in your video. ua-cam.com/video/glbe_fDpCiU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SageReynolds
UwU UwU that would be really cool! Admittedly I’m not a pro at bookmaking. This is just a personal project I did and wanted to share ❤️ You should check out “sea lemon” she’s got lots of tutorials for bookmaking!
My recommendation would be to scan the old cover and print it at the slightly-larger size on a commercial printer (say, at your local Staples), and then do basically this, except with the printed cover in place of the cloth.
i did some research on that and I think that you could use either a really thick cardstock or non-corrugated cardboard. Unfortunately, just the stuff from a cardboard box won't work, as it is corrugated.

Thank you! I covered a bible with an acrylic background I did on mixed media paper. It gives the paper a feel more like wallpaper. I love it!
Lynn Gigante that is awesome!! It’s so fun to personalize them ❤️

Great work! Lots of love from India!

From where do you get the hard brown board? Thank you
I needed this . My soft covered bible is curling up! Where can I buy chip board?
Maybe on Amazon? Or there’s usually a bookbinding section of the craft store 😊

Great work!!! Thank you!!!!!
Very nice book♥️😁
Where do you get the bibles with the ability to put notes on the side?
great video !!
Hi! Can you do a tutorial on how to make paperback books turn into hardcover with the same cover design? Thanks

Elmer's glue is pva glue
Is hot glue a good idea?
the BEST Book IN THE WORLD 🕊️🙏
I'm guessing I can't just use regular old cardboard...

@@signior-fabian thank you!!
Did you remove the old cover?
Nope! It provides a good base to hold the pages together so I leave it 😊
Thank you.
