I am Nigerian and my dad studied his masters in agriculture. There was No Great Wall of Benin. It never existed, it’s a western tale that people choose to believe. Where was never a Great Wall in Nigeria
@Anselm243 I'm not Nigerian, but I have a number of friends there. One of them did a video several months ago about the Benin wall. It was mostly a moat and earthen embankment, with the embankment reaching 10 meters high in places. Parts of the embankment may or may not have been topped by wooden palisades at one time, that's still being debated. Saying no wall of any kind existed is to contradict historical record and the fragmentary evidence that remains today. The pictures in this video, that insinuates they represent what the Benin wall looked like, are ridiculous. No credible historian ever claimed the wall was of such great height or of stone construction.
@ there was multiple moats all over Benin that separated villages I know this I have family from there, that’s not what I said. I said there is no record ever of there be a “Great Wall”. There are other areas in Nigeria that records show had bigger walls then Benin. None of them come close to the Great Walls of China.
@@Anselm243 And many Nigerians would say otherwise. It largely depends on how you define the words, " wall" and "great". As far as I know, there is no precise definition for either word and particularly the word "great" is subjective. If you choose to believe it didn't exist, that's your right, but I choose to believe what other Nigerians have told me plus the evidence of the few remaining remnants and historical records.
