His grandfather left his grandmother and started a new family elsewhere. Once Elvis became famous, he tried to profit from it. He even put out a record. Elvis bought him a car. But his grandfather only came around for what he could get so your impression is correct!
Joe Desrali Agh, dead set ? Is all this true ? Hey I have Wallace in my ancestry !
Terrible God his grandfather wow sicko
You can hear a slight similarity in his voice and Elvis, maybe it's just the southern drawl though.
Relatives that pay you no mind always come round when money is involved.
Thank God Elvis inherited his looks from his Mother!.
Vernon handled all the relatives and was tight with the money
Elvis was to kind hearted
Vernon lived through hard times and was afraid Elvis would spend/give away all they had and if he hadnt of died when he did he probably would have leaving them in the poor house.
If Vernon wasn’t tight with the money Graceland would have been sold soon after Elvis’ death.
@mitzi73, no. The thing is, Priscilla wouldn't allow it to be sold. She knew how EP loved his home. Her efforts have kept Graceland going. It's a million dollar enterprise. She could have sold it but in her words when asked about selling, she said,
"That will never happen:!
And it's Lisa Marie her home too!
I never found this man Trustworthy....... what he can get is all he wasted
For me,Elvis is so good to everyone in the family, and friends.I love Elvis even he is gone but remembering how he lived his earthly life is such pleasing to God
His grandmother outlived him.
He changed a lot of ppl lives that's for sure 👍 😄
No that was not Dodger. The lady in the video was Vernon's step mother
John Lennon's dad came out of the woodwork and released a record after his son became successful as well. We can choose our friends but not our relatives.
lol! I read about all that. I guess Jesse was up to the same here.
Yes back in the day my own grandfather left my grandmother with 9 or so children I watched my own father suffer from not having a real FATHER . Then when I got older he found him 40 years later we go see him he's got 5 more children my uncle's and aunt some younger than me out of respect for my father I took to grandpa and my New uncle's. Then I found out grandpa had joined the navy when he left I forgot to add that was badly wounded in the stomach it took almost 30. Years give or take bled to death year by year he passed my father had no emotional sorts 1 uncle fell to his knees at the coffin crying out daddy why did you leave us carma always comes back to everyone including myself God bless all🙏
Carma is what I was trying to say sorry 🙏
@@bobbystrickland9996 It´s too bad that men can make children no matter their age because that is why these things happen.
Elvis's popularity had touched every family members and I am sure they loved eachother so much. R.I.P. ELVIS... WE LOVE YOU !!!
They all mooched off him.
Vernon talks like him, and the same talking voice pretty much.
Elvis was a darling from day one thanks to Gladys’s unconditional love ,care and concern for her only child. He didn’t inherit any qualities from these two and there was certainly no physical resemblance . They could have been anybody off the street.
For the record that's really Grandpa Jesse and she's not his paternal grandmother she's his step grandma....
He is Vernons dad, i think. 🤷
You know that Elvis was a twin? His brother died at birth.😪
I disagree, if you look at pictures of Vernon you'll see that Elvis resembled both his mother and father. He had his mother's facial features but his father's facial structure (the chin etc.)
Gary Barnett, Vernon looks a lot like Jesse, his dad!
J.D. Presley was abusive to his son and their relationship was very poor. Elvis did not stay in contact with his paternal grandfather while they met few times. In 56 Elvis gave him a car (Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria) and a TV set. J.D. attended his grandsons concert where Elvis introduced him on stage in 71..He died 2 years later.
Guðlaugur Ómar I would have like to have seen that concert. Does any one have a video of that concert with his Grand Father that he introduced on Stage to the audience?
I believe Dodger would like to knock out ol JD’s bad tooth.
I'd like to see this also were Elvis introduced his biological grandfather
Elvis had a lot of respect for all human race anyone 🙏 May he rest in peace 🙏
It's not surprising, because Elvis was a special person in every sense of the word. The man was God given and God driven. He was guided by the spirit. And the spirit don't hang around vendetta and his close cousin grudge. If you been given all the things that he wD given. Why would you waste your time with nonsense. I would have no problem giving that grandfather a shot and gifts. When you are anointed, you can do things and forgive people that others can't do. Because you already know that people can't take the anointment that us stored in you. It's only one thing that took Elvis life. And that's his mom passed away and was not home. He always felt that he kind of disbanded her. This stuck with him forever. There are too many people that confuse a momma's boy with being momma's boy. And that stigma comes from mostly women. Because the ones who are not smart can't take being #2 women as a wife or girlfriend. I think God refers to them as fools. No mother who loves there son gets in the way if his women. Especially a god ly women likes Elvis mother. I guess people could say that about Jesus too. What did he say before they crucified him, Take Care Of My Mother!
The Presleys preacher said all the Presleys could sing. Vernon had a great voice.
I never saw his grandparents before. He took after his mom .
Elvis resembled Vernon and also Gladys' father .
@@BonTonRule I totally agree with you....
I think he took after both.
This lady was a step mom

These comments are so beautiful even if some are a bit critical but it is such a blessing reading them as ya learn a little bit more about what inspired Elvis like love and respect, beautiful
Man im proud to be from the south we always respect our elders no matter how old we get Elvis was the same
Amen to that.
I live in Australia, and have always spoke to my elders , with respect and address them to this day as Mr, Mrs, or Miss then the surname, and my son's do the same.
It's nice knowing others still do .

This is how people get away with abuse
@@wandarask8444 .....the people who settled the American South long ago were from the British Isles. While the accent obviously changed, the custom of demonstrating respect, politeness and courtesy without excessive friendliness prevailed, including addressing other adults as sir or ma'am and saying please and thank you. I can see and hear Vernon in this clip.
The interviewer looks incredibly current.
Grandpa didnt have the million dollar talent elvis had thats for sure
He had a sexy smile.
Very Good!
She's certainly putting on a show of the doting step-grandma to Elvis - sickening to see how the two of them are presenting themselves in this vid. I'm glad Elvis took Dodger in.
Oh it's his wife wow
Right? Don’t want to speak Ill of the elderly, but damn, this is pretty low. He seems nice enough, but knowing what we know from Mini Mae’s side, this is sickening, especially that he says “we want to pay off our mortgage”.
Elvis Presley got his looks from his mother's side
Elvis looked like his dad. He looks nothing like his mother’s maternal side. His first cousin Billy Smith is still alive, he looks nothing like him.
Lol
Elvis lives..
I think his mouth was so funky she diverted the questions to the wife.
Bella familia de Elvis!!!!!!
She has a lovely voice. Not from there but love southern accents.
lol elvis' family is cashing in on his fame

What a rare find ! Would be good to see an interview with Gladys Native Indian parents as well. Apart from what Elvis is, this part seems unfortunately repressed.

I don't believe Elvis resented his grandfather because he bought him a new car. Was he close to his grandfather? More than likely not.
But I believe no matter what, Elvis took care of his family, even his grandfather...
One has to remember that Elvis' brother was named after his grandfather...
Some of you folks shouldn't be so hard on his grandfather and his wife.
If Dodger wasn't living with Elvis I believe Elvis probably would have been more close to his grandfather but to respect his grandmother living in his house, I believe Elvis kept his distance from his grandfather and never talked about him out of respect for his grandmother...
Hadn’t thought about that! So, is this the grandfather who had once been married to Dodger, and left her?
@@paulapool5721 Yes, sure is!
I believe this as well. Elvis took care of his grandmother thank goodness..❤ Elvis
million dollar smile
Finally I found some one talking about his teeth lol
Vernon looks very much like his father.
Cashing in
Jesse Presley deserted his wife Minnie Mae Presley years beforr this interview, this ain't Elvis's biological granny, its his grandad other wife. They were just trying to cash in on Elvis's fame.
She did give of step granny vibes dodger was a real one Jesse shoulda stayed
This explains why Elvis obviously didn't have grandad's teeth fixed. Elvis' true grandmother lived in Elvis' mansion until she died, outliving Elvis and Vernon by several years.
Ahhhh. Don’t believe things straight off the bat
Thank yo
That's what this interview sounded like to me- family member trying to get in on the action. He obviously thought it was easy to make money by just singing .
What a good for nothing grandpa Presley was
Vernon sounded like his dad the way he talked. And his mannerisms as well. In a way, I guess Elvis did too.
You mean the voice or southern drawl??
@@sallyaguilera9694 both I think as well as mannerism. In a way Elvis too was similar to his dad Vernon in voice and mannerism.
Great channel Megan greets from Ireland sub for you
Thank God Elvis had none of JDs qualities! The total opposite of his grandfather. More like his mother Gladys with good looks and manners.
You mean his mother's good manners as Elvis inherited his good looks from both Mom and Dad
Elvis was a mix of many qualities and he had many of Vern's personality traits as well. Not just his mother, he was a person who explored life and lifestyles not just what he learned at home.
Elvis was a great talent and beyond handsome. He was a womanizer and had MANY, MANY Women. He divorced Priscilla. Had a fashion style with his clothes unlike any of his classmates. He was a fabulous entertainer, therefore people overlook and excuse some of the bad habits he had that was probably in-line with his grandfather. With that being said, I loved Elvis as an entertainer and now Elvis as the man with a big heart.
@@marthahumphrey3849 Priscilla divorced Elvis. And Elvis had none of the traits his grandfather had. Don't know where your info came from.

Elvis Presley herdou os traços da avó paterna , a mãe de Vernon .
Wasn't this the grandfather that let his son Vernon go to jail, leaving Elvis and his mom homeless?
Vernon tried changing the dollar amount of a check for a hog he sold to his landlord. He and his in-law’s messed up changing the dollar amount and then traced the mans signature on a new check .that’s forgery against the bank. That’s why he went to jail .for being that stupid. Vernon’ went to jail two years for 5 dollars , 30 years later he would be signing checks for hundreds of thousands. TCB .
Yes! I'm shocked this was recorded in 1958, way after all that forgery/jail stuff happened. And note that it's granddaddy who is angling for a music career FOR HIMSELF! How deluded and selfish. Oh, my...
Yes, because Vernon was broke himself and Vernon went about getting money the wrong way.
when Vernon ended up going to prison in the early 40's, Jesse bailed out Vernon's brother and another man invovled but let Vernon sit in prison...and like some of the other posts on here Jesse ran out on Minnie (aka Dodger)

Jesse was always a snappy dresser. He was poor but wore suits as much as possible. It's about the only thing Elvis picked up from Jesse was the love of clothing. Jesse was the chosen name for a boy before Elvis was born. The first baby born died and Vernon left the name with the dead baby, and named the second born Elvis.
Maybe this was Vernon's way to make a sign in his father's direction that he broke up with him 🤔
Right from the first glance of Elvis I said he took after his mama. Do his mama had Native American blood in her I also saw some of that in Elvis. He had quite a mama ..

The grandma he had live with him at Graceland, was she his mother's mother or his father's mother? Was she married to the old man in the video?
This is his grandfather Jesse Presley. Vernon’s dad. Yes, he is blood. Jesse was married to Elvis’ grandma Minnie Mae who lived at Graceland. Jesse left her and started a new family. When Elvis got famous, he of course came around looking for money. Elvis did buy him a car.

How kind Elvis was to have taken care of his aunt who wasn't blood. Elvis truly was a genuine ,generous, and kind soul. I see that Vernon Presley favors his father, though think their face shape is different. It was nice of his father's second wife to say they loved Elvis, his grandfather and grandmother divorced. I never heard his grandfather sing but a musical family.
Regarding those claiming his 2nd wife’s posture signals something significant: Are you an expert in “body language,” a pseudoscience that may not even be legitimate? Just curious. Is it possible the woman just wanted to relax and be comfortable and therefore sat semi-reclined the way she did? Just asking.
He has great teeth!
Figures, thanx! He's got an evilness about him. And you don't go around saying you are desperate for money to pay your mortgage when you have a grandchild who is loaded and extremely generous with his money. As if Elvis would have allowed him to lose his house, no matter how bad he was! This can almost be seen as a threat to Elvis, "give me more money or else I'll humiliate you". For those mocking the man’s teeth, remember that Elvis had his teeth capped (as well as had plastic surgery on his nose) in the 1950s. IMO the incredible Elvis tribute artist Shawn Klush - even offstage he’s as close to the original as I think we’ll ever see - somehow obtained molds of Elvis’s teeth and/or caps because his teeth are IDENTICAL to Elvis’s and they give him a smile that eerily resembles Elvis’s.

Shortly before he died, and against the advice of his friends, he also had a facelift.
