That is a nice bridge, but what I really love is that crossing! Never thought of hiding the motors in a shed and moving the gates by pulley, a brilliant idea! Now if only there was a way to do it automatically, other then using a $200 Mindstorms set I mean.
What is the maximum load that can support the bridge without suffering catastrophic failure?Because it looks like the bridge it can not seem to support a full train passing overhead. I think you should think about adding a structure to help the bridge to withstand increased workload. Anyway, Excellent work and excellent video!
This is super fun! A couple of thoughts. I am assuming you thought of these and it would be interesting to see why you didn't. If you used block and tackle pulleys to bring it up, and mounted those on the base. You could still do both sides as long as you either made two systems, or stretched the rope across. That would reduce weight on the bridge, and could allow for mention bracing in to the center area. Just some ideas :P I love your work!
I can see a whole lot of flex-give on that bridge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This would make for an epic viaduct if implemented in real life. It'd something like a Panama Canal or Suez Canal, but for trains. Thanks for the idea.
This was all though by yourself, right? Amazing work, mate! You make me want to come back to LEGO! I had some amazing time back then when I was 15yo, but I begin to run out of time. I hope one day I could have a fraction of your LEGO knowledge!
if you are ever gonna make it longer lets me suggest to make a pipe or 2 in the middle of the bridge that will extent that way it'll be More durable. thank you for you're time
You know what your next project is? Building another set of tracks where the bridge stops at the top :-). Or a tank underneath it to simulate a river and a boat to sail under it! :-).
4:45 "they still haven't realized I'm not part of this movie!" As a side note, you could in theory make the bridge girder more rigid, adding a substructure (or superstructure). On the other hand, I notice the bridge is practically composed of side-by-side rectangle shapes. If you add diagonal trusses to those rectangles (so the overall shape consists of a bunch of triangles put together, rather than rectangles) it may become more rigid (less deformation when loaded). Something like this: goo.gl/bQUAeG Edit: again, great build, edit, and the captions are awesome! Long live the hamsters!
Firstly, awesome setup and idea. Secondly, the material on the black pillow is very bouncy, excellent cushioning choice on that one. And thirdly, would you foresee a use for this in civil engineering or was the build based on an idea you found was in use already on a rail line. To me, it seems like the railway equivalent of a lock system to transfer ships across canals.
+vtr0104 It is a real-life solution, formal name is a vertical-lift bridge and the advantages of such a design make it particularly well suited for railways. It's not used to transport trains, though, just to let ships pass under bridge.
THAT RIGHT THERE IS REALLY AWESOME ! XD Very creative !!!! Are you by any chance a Lego set engineer / designer ? They make really good money. Thanks for the share.
Nice work as usual! Can anyone tell me how the tracks lined up, between the table and the bridge? It seemed like they just line up with a neglegable gap, and i see that they dont actually mesh. Does the bridge have to be higher or lower for the trasition to work smoothly?
I'm a complete sadist when it comes to this kind of thing. I would remove a piece from the bridge part, run a train across, remove a piece, etc. until the btidge collapses.
Arin's tear drop You know, ships can be pretty tall and it's hard to run a train 20 meters above the ground at all times because sometimes a ship needs to go through.
How often do you have to replace / recharge the batteries for the motors in charge of lifting the bridge? I'm guessing they suck up a lot of power to lift that beast of a bridge!
Hey ! What is your gt ? Cuz i've seen on the video that you were playing destiny and it can be cool for me to do raid with you ect...ho and nice works and you have a really good stuff...
Imagine if you put a hole in the ceiling and had an upper level of track that this extended to so it can be used as the default lift bridge it is and a lego train elevator at the same time and that would be really epic but a pain for if you want to close the hole up again
sariel, I've just made a t54 tank in lego, but because of the size I'm having trouble fitting motors to it, have you got any got any ideas for small builds? any response will be much appreciated
+thegreatga I don't, that's a flaw of this design. After a couple of ups & downs one side is usually 2 teeth higher than the other. Ideally, the two motors should be coupled and driving both sides simultaneously. I just made the "climbing" gears easy to remove for manual adjustments.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Hey Sariel. Just a idea on how to solve the issue with the flexible center of the bridge.Maybe use some kind of string pulley support system to suspend the center. And perhaps make it more rigid with some external lego technic beams.
What if instead of a barrier you used another PF remote on the same freq as your train, and when the train gets too close it presses reverse to override your main remote. Ensuring crashes are impossible!
If you ever did sell instructions for me personally I make my designs on Lego Digital Designer first and then build them. Seems cheap but effective when using the HTML section of it.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I hear that a lot. It helps some people but not everyone. So what designing process do you go through or are you just a master builder who makes a creation at free will.
Crzypengu The question is, why waste time designing Technic creations digitally when it simply won't work? There is no Lego software capable of simulating friction, weight and all the crucial factors that decide if your creation will work or not. I have seen people design all kinds of Technic stuff on their computers only to discover it won't work in real life way too many times. Digital design is good for castles or houses, but definitely not for Technic.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den That makes since. some do pass but not all of them. I tried to design the Jokers Peterbilt to scale with the Lego Tumbler and add motorization to it but I do not know how to do technic stuff plus it will need a powerful Power Function to work but even then it would not push a model that heavy.
+dodgydingygames Actually yes, that's why I made gears on the bridge easy to remove for adjustments. After going up and down a few times one side would usually end up 2 teeth lower than the other.
Haha lol, was he just a die hard fan who broke into your apartment and started asking questions about all of your upcoming models? :P Can't wait to see your next model.
You could make a train lift that takes the trains from floor level to the tabletop. That would also allow for extending the track across the floor.
If you put this on Lego Ideas, I bet it'll get the 10,000 mark in no time
+JeeperCreeperMC And then Lego will reject it, as they always do.
sometimes I think Lego hates everything with trains. Just look how poorly they treat the train stuff
@Aviation Club eh, they did well with the steam trains. And set 3677 wasn’t that bad either!
Are you sure this vids is not you showing off the weapons you have in destiny? :P
Very nice job on the lifting mechanism. I laughed soooo hard when you said"operating like an average politician - by pulling strings" LMAO!!
+BrickitSAM Did you know that according to scientists, if you decapitate a politician, it will continue stealing for up to 20 minutes after? ;)
:D
+BrickitSAM What politician? Where?
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den so what you're saying is that the death certificate takes 20 minutes to print.
destiny in the background?! LOVE IT, Well done with this build, you are truly an amazing lego builder
I would strongly consider paying money for the building instructions and the part list for this excellent Lift bridge.
Or you could build it based on the video and photos for free. The entire structure is exposed, after all.
lol tat politician joke xD Nice build!
I love your videos! Awesome builds and a nice touch of humour, really cool :D
A lovely design! And it's wonderful to see minifigs "operating" it, as well.
and the weapons change everytime as well 👌
+LittleScientist2011 ITS AN SPY GET HIM!
I see you playing destiny back there. Kappa
JoshIsParty he has a vex😭
I remember when destiny was actually good
! Dude destiny is good I think destiny two is actually better!
I love Destiny! Can't wait for The Taken King!
Man, I just love your office/desk setup.
was amazing to even watch !! thank you
I am 27 and still addicted with Lego
+Ormi Ader 46 and love this...
20 and can't get enuff lego
Ormi Ader I am addicted about Lego guns
11. Facenated by legoes and their mechanisms
there is so much possibility with lego, you can play with these all your life
lego poly bridge anyone?
+MixZ WHAT'S THAT?
+DesignJunkie58 look up "poly bridge 4 jse"
+MixZ I was thinking that exactly!!
me
I have to go gluten, I will have it 9am 9
Your office looks so awesome and this is probably one of your best creations. Good job!
That is a nice bridge, but what I really love is that crossing! Never thought of hiding the motors in a shed and moving the gates by pulley, a brilliant idea! Now if only there was a way to do it automatically, other then using a $200 Mindstorms set I mean.
if you buy one u can reutilise it
What did you expected: grand crash with bridge falling and broken trains with epicness
What did you got: trains falling on pillows
THE HAMSTER ARE CUTE and lifting sistem is incredible
"...operate it like an average politician." subscribed.
What is the maximum load that can support the bridge without suffering catastrophic failure?Because it looks like the bridge it can not seem to support a full train passing overhead. I think you should think about adding a structure to help the bridge to withstand increased workload.

+carlitosskater89 Well, it was inspired by real-life bridges.
if you are ever gonna make it longer lets me suggest to make a pipe or 2 in the middle of the bridge that will extent that way it'll be More durable. thank you for you're time
You know what your next project is? Building another set of tracks where the bridge stops at the top :-). Or a tank underneath it to simulate a river and a boat to sail under it! :-).
Fantastic build ! I would really like to build something similar, what kind of budget did you have for this build ?
Wow this is a really cool project nice job man
That politician roast tho. I love it
I see you showing off your vex mythoclast :)
4:45 "they still haven't realized I'm not part of this movie!"

A stunning work of engineering!
What's with the vex mythoclast in the background? XD
Very Cool! I Wish The Creators Of Lego Could Make Something Like This!
Did you consider making folding barriers that would make a 180 degree fold to clear the way on either sides for the bridge to go trough?
wow, superklasse gemacht. Ich wünschte ich hätte auch soviel Platz bei mir zuhause :-)
POLY BRIDGE ^^
nice creation
+Enzo Maxel I agree
This guy got three things, Time, Money and IQ
Firstly, awesome setup and idea.
Secondly, the material on the black pillow is very bouncy, excellent cushioning choice on that one.
And thirdly, would you foresee a use for this in civil engineering or was the build based on an idea you found was in use already on a rail line. To me, it seems like the railway equivalent of a lock system to transfer ships across canals.

Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Understood, thank you for the clarification. And have a great week ahead!
vtr0104 Same to you :)
Very cool Idea! Love it ;-)
THAT RIGHT THERE IS REALLY AWESOME ! XD Very creative !!!! Are you by any chance a Lego set engineer / designer ? They make really good money. Thanks for the share.
+Tyler Eastman Thank but no, I'm not.
dang those trains are pretty solid
I love how you desecretly show off your destiny guns
+NitroBuilds You're jealous of my No Land Beyond, I know ;)
+Sariel's Lego® Technic Den Just a bit ;P
you are playing destiny…..very nice to see your exotics, where is the vex?
….and very nice lego bridge !!
+Andi Baum Yes, I am, and yes, I have the Vex.
drogi sarielu podziwiam cię za wszystkie twoje budowle i mam pytanie ile poświęciłeś czasu tej budowli?
+Dernixsis 200 Dzięki, jeden weekend.
well done man it is so awsome!!
WOAH! also for more crashes like have the train on the bridge and then make it go forward or backward
It is amazing build a railway train bridge can't control the bridge up and down too
Nice work as usual!
So... What would you use it for? Do these exist irl?
Of course they exist and are used e.g. for letting large ships go under. Takes a few seconds of using Google to find that out.
good point... couldn't they just build the bridge higher? I guess it wouldn't look as cool
Arin's tear drop You know, ships can be pretty tall and it's hard to run a train 20 meters above the ground at all times because sometimes a ship needs to go through.
I see, well good talk :)
+Sariel's LEGO® Workshop your hamster is getting a lot of cookies. I think your Lego one will match the real one of it gets all those cookies....
Great music. I shazam'd this to see what it was, but got no hits, then saw your guitar on the wall. Did you do the soundtrack too?
Nope.
You should make it go up to your roof so you can walk under it when not in use
My parents would enjoy that so I can get to my dresser
I subbed to you to prevent your hamster from getting bored.
Thanks!
hahaha
Liking the queenbreakers bow in the background
How often do you have to replace / recharge the batteries for the motors in charge of lifting the bridge?
I'm guessing they suck up a lot of power to lift that beast of a bridge!
+WhoWantsToKnow81 It's a Lego rechargeable cell battery and I didn't manage to run it dry.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den
Cool, thanks for the info.
5:30 well, I found what Sariel likes to do in his spare time...
2:14 IS THAT DESTINY!?!?!? The ice breaker exotic! Dang!
Hey ! What is your gt ? Cuz i've seen on the video that you were playing destiny and it can be cool for me to do raid with you ect...ho and nice works and you have a really good stuff...
+XxsW4gGzZdaRrkNeSs GT: PugWithAMug
Amazing!
Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what is that on your TV in the background???
Destiny.
What’s the music? Love the build
Well you got yourself a lift bridge, congrats. Now what's the next step in your master plan? crashing this train... WITH NO SURVIVORS!
It would be extremely painful... FOR YOU.
Psp
You are from Poland, +Sariel's LEGO
Didn't know you played destiny? What platform may I ask?
Imagine if you put a hole in the ceiling and had an upper level of track that this extended to so it can be used as the default lift bridge it is and a lego train elevator at the same time and that would be really epic but a pain for if you want to close the hole up again
sariel, I've just made a t54 tank in lego, but because of the size I'm having trouble fitting motors to it, have you got any got any ideas for small builds? any response will be much appreciated
It will cost you an arm and a leg, but you could use Micro motors.
+Lorenzo H I don't have any though:(
They are rare and very expensive. So I'd suggest making room for m motors.
Those poor passengers at 5:15!!! Did they survive?
Great design, although I'm quite jealous of your mythoclast. ;)
+Samorak's Technic Vehicles Only took me 10 months to get one ;)
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Hahaha, I'm still happy from a couple of weeks ago from xur! :D
How did you make the trains move forward and backwards? Is the motor connected to the wheels? That's probably it I just want to know how
+Srendrew8 Yes, the motor is connected to the wheels.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Ok thank you for telling me :)
great bridge but i prefer the no land beyond also what platform do you play on.
+LittleScientist2011 Xbox One.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den heard that in poland people found nazi ghost train. And theres lego there too. Two reasons to move there :)
+sean ang lol wat? XD
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den i can aford an xbox one so im only on 360😂
That's so amazing
How do you keep both sides in sync? So that both sides always remain the same level, instead of one side going slightly faster than the other?
+thegreatga I don't, that's a flaw of this design. After a couple of ups & downs one side is usually 2 teeth higher than the other. Ideally, the two motors should be coupled and driving both sides simultaneously. I just made the "climbing" gears easy to remove for manual adjustments.
You should title it, "Check out all these rare guns I got in Destiny that everyone has now."
Fun fact: it's either this, or my ass reflected in the TV. It works like a giant mirror when turned off ;)
Okay then.
Someone finally said it
Cool room :)
very nice!!!! do you have the new GoPro Session??
+Ole Schmidt Yup, got if a few days ago.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Hey Sariel. Just a idea on how to solve the issue with the flexible center of the bridge.Maybe use some kind of string pulley support system to suspend the center. And perhaps make it more rigid with some external lego technic beams.
Is the GoPro better than the other one?
Ole Schmidt Which "other one" exactly?
The other one is your old GoPro Hero
I'd hate to think how long that took
What if instead of a barrier you used another PF remote on the same freq as your train, and when the train gets too close it presses reverse to override your main remote. Ensuring crashes are impossible!
+Taylor Hay That would be putting a lot of trust into the remote's range.
without pillows it's better !!
Atleast the locomotives are save
Is that Destiny your on the TV?
+aads1001 Yup.
Crapstation or Xbox?
If you ever did sell instructions for me personally I make my designs on Lego Digital Designer first and then build them. Seems cheap but effective when using the HTML section of it.
+Crzypengu I'm not touching LDD with a stick. Worst software of this kind I've ever seen.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I hear that a lot. It helps some people but not everyone. So what designing process do you go through or are you just a master builder who makes a creation at free will.
Crzypengu The question is, why waste time designing Technic creations digitally when it simply won't work? wow showing off ur vex mythoclast in the back i see
No land beyond
Dod the bridge collapse or something? Or nah
Nvm i just saw what he did when he said crash
Maybe people should put double motors on the trains and have them go so fast they derail on corners.
And maybe also consume all your AAA batteries.
Why was there vex mythoclast and lord of wolfs on your tv
do you have issues with the xl motors moving at slightly different speeds?
+dodgydingygames Actually yes, that's why I made gears on the bridge easy to remove for adjustments. After going up and down a few times one side would usually end up 2 teeth lower than the other.
Now you just need to put another set of tracks at the top & you're set! ;)
Btw, you didn't send any of your trains, going up or down? :/
I did not know you played destiny. What class are you?
#WarlockMasterRace
The only class that matters. Titan, of course.
Titan is a close second for me. I used to main a titan in the original Destiny.
#TitansUnite
you're so lucky you got the best toys
Nice this is so cool
So jealous of your faithbringer :O
I expected the bridge to colapes but i guess you dont want all that hard work to colapesTony Racer
where do you take the background music? wich is its title?
wow man I am dutch and like lego trains and machines for lego trains can tell me a site for beginners or tell me something I understand it
Cool lift
Is that a dead body in the back at 0:07 ? If so, was it your hamster that did him in?
+Owen Buckingham (Dwarf9668) LOL, you know, he was asking too many questions ;)
Haha lol, was he just a die hard fan who broke into your apartment and started asking questions about all of your upcoming models? :P Can't wait to see your next model.
I have a feeling that it is just all of his models he dose not want us to see....... Or a dead body..........
you should put like one lift system in the midle so the bridge won't collapse in the midle
It didn't collapse.
@@searme just in case if it did.
like a fail safe
What is the part number for those vertical yellow pieces? Thanks!
+karmajayification Here: alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=64448#T=C
Thanks!
You should dosomething with that and like a forest or a valley under the bridge ! It will be magic *_*
