The one on the bottom is to increase memory for updating the software and/or maps. Another note: If you update via WiFi you can have less memory free than the update and it will still work. If you are updating it hard wired into your computer with Garmin Express it will take up more memory and you will likely need a memory card. Again, thanks for making these great videos! Watching this video demonstration was so much easier to understand than the booklet that comes with the unit. A lot of it I will never use but searched for a video to explain dash cam set up and features. What I came across by accident, now understand! I was wondering though what the icon on the right on the dash cam screen with the five marks and camera with what looks like a moon does. (38:18)
Hi Khalid, watched all your great videos, but one thing always wrong. The circle mounting bracket is designed to be mounted to the top first, not the bottom like you always said, except in this video (because you have no choice - but you still think that this differ from "your way"). Look at the Garmin label (it will shows up-side-down if you mounted like you always did) and all the quick-start guide paper (and also manual) , they always show the latch on the bottom. If the latch on the top, you restricted the space of the movement of the suction cup (to get the desired angle) when you mounted on the windshield. Other than that everything is good Khalid.
The most obvious that Garmin (by design) make the mounting in auch away that the latch shall be on the bottom is yje Garmin label on the mounting circle. It obvious that it shouldn't show up-side-down when mounted on the windshield 😊
Hi I have been trying to see if this unit will dry run the route before you start your journey, so far i do not see how you can do this, I have an old TOM TOM which allows you to go over the route , Hope you can answer me when you have time.

I have a Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S. Years ago, a Garmin specialist showed me how to enlarge the icons that show upcoming food, gas stations, hotels, etc. Now I don’t like them so big. How do I get those icons back to normal size? I can’t remember if he did on the Garmin GPS itself or in BaseCamp then uploaded to the GPS? Great video. Thanks
Yes it has that feature but you have to turn on the Lane assistant feature. In addition to that you need to update the Junction View file using GarminWebUpdater.exe
If the PC doesn't recognize it it could be due to a bad USB port, and in that case you need to open it and repair the USB port. You will need a soldering iron to do that, and I have a video on that which shows hot to do it.
Hi Khalid, my DriveAssist is making a high pitched sound and it’s getting ridiculous. I went to do something and I pressed something by accident. How do I fix this?!
I think you have enabled the Microphone feedback test. Try putting your finger on the Microphone to see if the sound pitch will change. If it does then fully charge the unit, then unplug it and put your finger on the battery icon for 30 seconds, then click on next until you get on the Bluetooth and Mic test and turn off the test.

The photos taken by the dashcam will not be used as a waypoint or "Junction View". They are completely isolated from each other. To create a waypoint you simply tap the map with your finger and save it as either Favorites, destination, or waypoint.
Hi, before deleting any maps make sure the European maps that you have will work with your Garmin by loading it on a Micro SD Card. The maps must be inside a folder called garmin. So if the SD Card Drive letter is G it will be like this G:\garmin/gmapsupp.img. If it works then you will need to remove the map inside the .system folder in your Garmin GPS. The name of the file is gmapprom.img or gmapprom1.img
just got mine, plugged into my computer and powered on .. all it does is say garmin and show the battery and doesn't do anything.. does that mean its dead
@@Noname4now2025 In most Garmin models, the Thermo sensor is inside an IC chip on the motherboard. Unfortunately, the only solution is to change the motherboard. Some versions did come with MP3 player or Media player some didn't. To check if yours have it go to apps. To put music you can copy all your songs on a Micro SD Card, or inside the MP3 folder on the Garmin Drive Internal Memory.
Hi, unfortunately only Garmin maps or third party maps specifically desinged for Garmin will work on this. No other maps will work. The maps on the SD Card must have the name " gmapsupp.img"
You can find them from eBay and Aliexpress> However first open the unit and see what the Display model number is, because the same exact model of Garmin GPS could have many different types of displays which may or may not be interchangeable.
I noticed you got an "Incident Alert" at some address. Would you cover how to get rid of those messages? They block my map display while driving. Great Video....thanks for doing it.
No problem, so the incident alert is activated by an internal shock sensor which assumes the vehicle was in an accident. Unfortunately the sensitivity of this shock sensor is not under user's control and sometimes it is activated by a bump on the road. However you could disable it altogether by clicking on settings, Dashcam, and uncheck the box next to " Automatic Incident Detection.

I have it too, and I have no idea what it does, and you didn't mention it. It toggles from five little lines above it, to on big solid line above it. Any idea what that thing does, or is that why you skipped it?
Hi that is time laps video also called Travelapse The Travelapse feature captures a fast-motion video of your trip, which allows you to share a short video of all the places you traveled. The feature captures video frames at a set distance interval. For example, it can capture one video frame for every kilometer or mile you travel. The device sets the distance interval automatically, based on the length of your route and the space available on your memory card.Recording a Travelapse Video You can record a Travelapse video automatically when you navigate a longer route or saved trip, or you can start and stop Travelapse recording manually.NOTE: The device continues to record regular dash cam footage while recording a Travelapse video.• When you start a route or trip that is two hours or longer, select the Travelapse banner at the top of the map. Yes if you put the unit in simulation mode by turning off the GPS Radio.

If you have Trip Log enabled you can get the data from the Basecamp software without enabling the overlay feature.
Yes so you will need to enable trip lock but disable map layers.

How can I see the level of charge on my battery? All I can now see is if the battery is charging. I want to see the level of the charge.

when taking a picture at a stop does that show when you come back to the same waypoint?

No necessarily, it could be due the battery being totally drained out. So let it fully charge overnight and try again

Try using Garmin Web Updater it will automatically reload the System Files. Not Garmin Express but Garmin Web Updater
