The only suggestion I may add here is to unequivocally share all Gore Vidal's archives to everyone that one may not have heard of him speak or have read everything he has written.
What an inspiration he made in my young life.
Long live Gore Vidal. He will never fade from history. Ultimately, he made history laugh at itself. Smeared it right in people's faces. Bravo!!

What a breath of fresh air. We need a contemporary version of this man. It's like he speaks an archaic language that we all knew but forgot, and upon hearing it again, it's as if we just woke from an evil spell.

We don’t because there are equally literate men today, but their audience wouldn’t know who Prometheus was or what the Lord of the Flies was about. The Dumbing Down of Americans. No one reads now.

      Archaic ?
He says Gore Vidal in Russian means “one who has seem grief. Nabokov told me that.”😊
Do university grads these days even know who Nabokov was. 😢

They don’t make ‘em like Gore anymore. Would that we had his like today. He gave the greatest state of the unions speeches for years. He is here in his prime. He was erudite and hilarious in a combination rarely seen. Among his many gifts, he wrote historical fiction that tells the whole story of America like no other.

Less than 1% of Americans would read books like Vidal’s today. Education now does not encourage reading literature or history. Only social media.😢

This documentary introduced me to Gore Vidal,.. it was airing on public TV on a Sunday night some 25 years ago,.. I embarked on a hunt for everything he had published and all video I could find. C-SPAN had hours of interviews and lectures,.. so good to see it still being archived here. The Cohn interview you mention is pure gold.
PS Trying to find this documentary back in the day I even contacted the director to see if there was a way to buy a copy on video or DVD format, he was rather rude and embittered (excerpts of his film where used in other Vidal biopics,.. I guess he thought the request was sketchy,..)

@shaheer151 Right now, the dull corporate democrats, in as so far as they are in power (let's face it, the corrupt Trump hijacked SCOTUS has done more damage), are a far better option than a fascist narcissistic con-man's regime, with his court sycophants in key power positions destroying what's left of the constitution, democracy and liberty.
