Looks like Stan Whitmire? in the photo watching Roger...totally mesmerized...as I am today...Oct. 2021...still, even more than when I first watched 6 years ago.
I never personally knew either one of them on this side. I can't wait to get to heaven to see them and hear the great playing. What a day thats going to be when the Jesus I LOVE I FINALLY GET TO SEE!!!
Isn't it strange, in the human mind, that 2 of the very best gospel pianists ever to live, died so young and so close together. But isn't it wondefful to know Jesus, because with Him it puts everything into perspective so easily. Praise God, for the hope we have in Jesus!!!
There are sometimes moments in life, in which a person gets to witness a true magical, spiritual, extraordinary display that will never be outdone. Ladies and gentlemen...THIS was one of those moments! It makes me long for Heaven and Jesus so much more......Roger and Anthony, see you at the house!!! 🙂🙂🙂
The Lord led me to this beautiful duet by Anthony and Roger and I will have to say this was anointed by the Holy Spirit.Heaven gained two precious Men.One day we will live eternally with Jesus and prayers that we'll hear Anthony and Roger in Heaven.
This video is from 1995, while both Anthony Burger and Roger Bennett were still with us. Why it was not shown on this video end that Anthony Burger's dates are: June 1961 to Feb. 2006. There are also several wonderful tributes to Anthony Burger here on UToob.
Well it's late nearly 1:30AM, November 10, 2017, reflecting on some of my Gospel Music roots.....and the strength drawn from them.....thinking about those precious souls who were drawn to a little country Baptist Church in Texas to seek refuge from the cares of this world only to have their lives horrifically ended. I stumbled on this duet played by two very talented Gospel musicians I've heard many times whose lives also ended so young. Anthony Burger passing at age 44 in 2006 and Roger Bennett died in 2007, age 48. The simple tune they play here is in my mind thinking of all those who are left so helplessly hurting. "Gentle Shepherd come and lead us For we need you to help us find our way, There's no other we can turn to Who can help us face another day"
Such a blessing to be able to hear these 2 great talents of Southern Gospel. They are greatly missed. My hope and prayer that future pianist will listen to not only their playing but their testimonies.
I have always loved Roger's music, I just didn't realize exactly who he, and the rest of the Cathedrals were, in depth, until the last year or so. I was sick and started using spotify and more yt. I have fell in love with the music from my childhood all over again. Bittersweet that I couldn't fully enjoy his gift until now, but so joyful that one day I can see him play before the Father. I love the music more and more every day, and can't wait to watch when I get off work. When I struggle, I remember Roger's struggle, and his testimony, and it makes me ashamed to complain. Even in death, he is still touching lives.
i Had the privilege of hearing each of them at different times before they went Home. Those concerts were something I will always remember. They were also very close friends. After Anthony passed and Roger took over hosting the Pianorama, He made the comment how difficult it was for him to do that after losing one of best friends.
Being only 23 I grew up in gospel music watching these two. They had to name the musican of the year award after anthony so someone else could get it...roger then proceeded to win it most of the the other years. I wouldn't doubt if it became the Anthony Burger/Rodger Bennett Award.
Immagine God's Pianorama in Heaven.. I can definitly say I'm jealous! Thank God for giving us technology so we could be blessed by videos like this. Gentle Shepard lead us...until we get home!
Ahhh. This is so pretty! makes me think of a dear church family member who first introduced me to their piano music. God used him to encourage me in my music, especially when I felt it was no longer in my heart when my sister passed away unexpectedly. This dear friend just passed away one week ago. To think of him being able to hear these inspirational pianists playing in heaven gives me chills! Such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
What continues to amaze me is that Anthony's parents were told that because of a childhood accident in which he burned his badly hands that he would never have full range of motion with his hands. God can do wonderful things can't he? I will always miss both their talents for the piano, there truly is no one like either of them alive.
WOW that scale at 1:48 is sooo hard to do Anthony has to be one of if not the best piano players that ever lived. i just wish he could still be here to play for us more
So beautiful definitely the annointing of God over them! They were definitely the best piano players on the face of the earth! Theyre playing for heavens glory now....cant wait to hear them again! R.I.P. Anthony and Roger. Definitely missed by me and many others im sure..........Whats the name of the song they were playing?
Not dissing the pianists or the video--they were both phenomenal pianists, esp. Burger--but this had to be a low point in their careers: playing two out-of-tune SAMICKS, for crying out loud, at an event that was presumably about honoring them. They have left a void in Southern gospel music and I hope that God will raise up two more to more than make up for their loss.

How sad that the two greats of this generation have passed away so young.
It is sad for us, but they are up there with Hovie Lister and other greats. My feeble mind cannot imagine the beautiful music.....
RIP to both of the greatest pianists of my time, and im only 14

Gentle Shepherd , I want Him to lead me! We need Him more than anything.
What is the name of this song? Beautiful. I'm sure they both are playing for Jesus, as we speak.
Gentle Shepherd

How sad you didn't feel the anointing of the Holy Spirit in this duet.
