I think it would have been so much better to print the actual cards with actual effects (they really are not that complex) and add a line on the rulebook : "Feel free to play your first games without concern about the effects and progressively include them to get the full experience of Vanguard step by step !" or something catchy like this, kind of how they did with the Lianorn / Youthberk / Jeweled trial decks. Also, because it needs to be said, I wouldn't have cared half as much if the product was 5$ (which is what 700 yens is) but the English version is 20$ instead. This + the product being mendatory to play in Standard feels like huge cash grab.
The first three D trial decks had vanilla and non-vanilla copies (In power up pack) which is good. This is just a blatant scam making you buy a common set from the booster to have skill copies
Yugioh had power up packs; Which enhanced the deck itself and had cards that are not really in the deck (thus an actual sideboard or something. The cards look like good deck pieces) . Whilst VG had literal vanilla copies of the card and had the effect retrain on the power up pack (just a few new cards and that's it, oh and the foil and OT)
I've tried teaching the game to at least one person and they thought the game was complicated. I'm thinking about buying one for a friend if he wants to learn just to see if it helps. I'm not big on the vanillas & numbers, but it is cool that if you lay them out in a row, you can follow along the video and basically learn the deck. Also it lets them do 1 video without having to change them that much if at all for each nation. I'm on the fence between buying one and just getting a crest and counter, but I might scoop it for the new trigger art as well as the crest and counter lol
it's a bit ironic that they charged money for this, imagine bringing your friend to play vanguard and saying "if you want to learn playing you need to buy this deck that you would play a couple times and then throw away"
You can also tell your friend they are required to buy it because they will not be allowed to play in tournaments with the energy crest contained solely within this product
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that they don't put the numbers on the english version cause otherwise I am definitely buying two of lyrical and keter for a clean playset of those triggers and bosses
@@kasureashtadoke1604 They just meant they want to play with 4 copies of the card without the numbers printed on them. Same for me, I'd rather play with 4 "clean" ones too. Though for starting players it's useful to learn the game, I'd suppose! :)

honestly im looking forward to the energy crest more than the decks themselves since we unfortunately have to spend almost double on each due to sleeves but bring on set 1, I want Akira to have Tanryu Light's Acoustic TCG protagonists energy and I will be very happy with DZ
Vanguard has my respect. Out of all card games I've tried it's the only one I've found where you can get a starter deck and play well you can win vs a built deck. It takes a lot of RNG but it's doable
My favorite is the Keter, Stoicheia, and Dragon Empire trial decks because of the amazing artwork bosses. Hopefully they'll add more effect cards and have triple rares back in the near future.
I really love lyrical designs so much the ride line look like and idol slowly training and become a top idol kinda give me love live/ idolmaster vibes i think my ride line once a get the quick start lyrical deck will be kairi Ride line i can call as rest help me set up field and g2 allow me to bounce any unit back to hand

Not that it did anything wrong, it was just... Different... Plus I figured I wouldn't have anyone to play with. But with something like this that doesn't have the effects, it's not really a plunge. It's more like just playing in shallow water. Players have to be able to mess around the effects so they can learn when and how to use them. But I guess that's exactly why it's built that way. Maybe these decks are literal Trial Decks to where you mess around with the very basics then if you want to continue to, let's face it, buy more Vanguard product, you can.
I'm liking Dark States because of the boss unit but also feeling Lyrical to try something new. Can't decide which to get or how to build uo Lyrical if I do go with it.
So, i just saw the cards for the new boosters. Some of them are the same cards as the starter decks, but they have skills. So does that mean some of our starter decks have skills, or only the one from the boosters have skills
Quick question regarding some of the rulings in these new cards. For the new main Grade 3 vanguard, the skill: [ACT](VC)1/Turn:COST [Counter Blast (1)], search your deck for up to one card with the same card name as this unit, reveal it and put it into hand, shuffle the deck, and this unit gets [Power]+10000 until end of turn. If I’m not mistaken, I believe the cost is 1 CB, but do I actually have to physically be able to search and put 1 card with the same name into hand for the +10k power to resolve, or is it just 1 CB for the ability to search (regardless whether there’s another copy left in the deck, since the text says “up to 1”) and still +10k power anyway? Thanks in advance.
Based on the wording, you still get the 10k for the ACT skill regardless if you searched out a persona ride. If the skill was worded like “if you searched …., then give your VG 10k,” then you’d have to find a persona ride to give your VG the power.
Well there's clearly some cool things about these, guess its good they should be simple for teaching. But yeah the boss grade 3 should at least be foil.
i will probably buy the keter and dark states ones to get the triggers, but I love all the new PGs especially the dragon empire one, I wonder what the sleeves for english will be like, its a shame that these will be the only way to get the energy stuff for a while
Because Yugioh structures don't include a short storage box and Acrylic counters (or sleeves and deckbox). Vanguard has something "premium" in it but still somewhat trash
What i like that they are very good for starting, those numbers dont annoy me and if they are effectless for the most part the decks are the decks are propably very balanced olthough very simple. I look forward to getting a few of those in english language and just using them as is... no local vanguard community so basically every game i get is a teaching Game. No effects helps with not overloading new players i think. Will def . Pick up the keter sanctuary and the Brandt gate one .. is Magallanica not that much supported? Trying to get back in after playing in the first 2 sets of Vanguard so most of my old collection of the Initial release, wich makes them now all premium cards And I liked the Granblue from back then.. so i was asking myself wether they are still actively supported in standard.

Ok. So hear me out. Im going to assume that shops will just sell the energy generator and the actual energy counters. So i feel no particular need to buy the actual decks.
The problems with the start decks 1- in my opinion its overpriced for how many vanilla cards its running 2- they should have added a promo pack including the actual skilled cards like they did with youthberk, drajeweled, and lianorn 3- it feels like the tutorial is very incomplete, since there is no over trigger, and they did not cover persona rides 4- bushiroad felt very wishy washy, like give everything no skills. Idk why they force us to get the energy crest when most decks as of rn don’t use energy. The only ones that use it is the newer decks and u don’t even need to use the energy support cards in the deck. They just want us to buy this generic ass start deck cuz they know they fucked it up and knows no one wants to buy. They then give us 1 effect trigger without a number random of 3 triggers so u have to buy 12 of these to get a play set of the effect trigger no? They could have just made the decks like the old ones with effects
He's bad but if you add cards that rely on persona riding like Tide line he can be a threat. Not to mention if you revive Prevailing Dragon and Nectar of sensationalism, its basically an infinite loop. (Prevailing basically destroys itself to get an order from drop after it attacks and Nectar gives +5k for each 5 cards in drop and +1 crit if 15 or more cards in drop). He is more of a early game guarding deck but yeah he is weak against heavy hitting multi attack decks.
The energy card looks like the Digimon TCG Memory counter. Don't get me wrong, love that we have a new mechanic to the game, but to copy a mechanic from another game.... 🫤
It is literally not the same mechanic as digimon just cause of the 10 counter. It has more in common with battle spirits cores, but not really cause it's just another limited resource of the same design as counter and soul, just not based on cards
