- I had the chance to bag myself a super rare 20b Cosmo last month and here it is!
This will be my main focus when the garage is up and running so stay tuned for more updates...
I will be posting progress on the instagram page too @resto_nation

The REDOM ECU is the factory ECU modified and tuned by RE Amemiya and would usually include in it's most basic form lowering the thermo fan start up temperature and removing the 180kph speed limiter. (this basic ECU tune is marketed as REDOM Mini). Then there are custom options such as raising the rev limiter, different fuel maps and boost control etc.
Thanks for the info. This one says type a on it and 0.8 written on it? I’ve put it up for sale on eBay now as I will go single turbo instead…
one of the nicest cars ever made in my opinion... would love to see the 20b back in there once more... there's no other option!
"Obviously the gearbox is not connected, because I don't have one" hahaha
That generation Cosmo came with either a 13B or 20B. You may consider a 13B (ideally a half-cut from Japan). Of course, that’s still as rare as hen’s teeth… There’s always the possibility of swapping in something completely different (small V6, turbo 4) , but the size of your engine bay would be a key consideration. Wish you the best on this one.
Thanks. I think the car is too good to do a swap on it so the hunt for a 20b will continue… I’m sure I will find one eventually. Then the build gets exciting 😎
Very very nice motor, this is going to be great seeing it getting back on the road. 👍🏻
Cheers 👍🏻
Got to admire you for taking on this one. Good luck.
Might have to sell a few kidneys to get an engine but it will be worth it 😉
Going to be sweet!
Can see you have a series-1 Type-SX making it a 93-model
It should have a D-series 20B-REW but just sourcing anything is the priority.
Most has been sourced now. Just got to source the last few bits…
Thanks for the info, car is an august ‘94

Friend.... There is a giveaway that shows it's a 93 & not a 94..... Do you have the VIN as this will verify
There are a few of those down here in NZ. Not sure what spec.See them at the car shows from time to time.
I like it, number plate an anagram of Great Sumo 👌🏼 the wheels suit it, hope you can find the right rotor for it, I would 2JZ it but that’s me 🤣
Never noticed that 😎. Haha strong temptation but need to stay true to the rotary gods…
I believe the Redom ECU is from famous rotary tuner Re Amemiya. Awesome car, definitely a dream car for me. Shame it's been gutted for a rx7 swap 😔
I reckon that’s probably the reason it’s been removed unfortunately too… always the way. Makes an epic rx7 and kills a Cosmo in the process.
@@Resto.Nation was it particularly well priced? Least it wasn't cut up. Seen a few front cuts of cosmo's containing the fabled 20B, ready for export.
@@charliegrace7459 not bad considering the silly price they leave Japan at now. I’ve since sourced a 20b short of its e shaft but put the car up for sale last week. The money will help finish the garages I’m building.
i wonder how many there are in the UK. Am i right in believing they were only sold in Japan?
I’ve been told less than 10. I’ve trawled the internet to try and find as many as possible but they all failed their mots years ago. I’ve only found 2 others myself that I know are actually on the road, a red one and a blue one. Yep, Japan only.
@@Resto.Nation I just bought a silver 20B from Surrey and imported to NZ, Nice straight condition. Hope you find a motor. It might be worth spending the bucks now as prices are not going down.
@@wideopen125 small world, I know who you bought it from and it’s identical to mine. Do you live out there i assume?
This is the one on Ebay?
Yep, that’s the one 👍🏻
Looks like he gave up
