- Hello and welcome back. This is my review of the Diplomat Magnum Fountain Pen. Like I said In the video, a big thankyou to Gene for Sending me this pen. it has been a great deal of fun using it and I will always cherish it. Thankyou.
This German made budget Fountain Pen Can be found on most fountain pen shops in multiple colours. Certainly not a beginner pen, but fits well into a niche in the pen market.
Hello and welcome back. Whilst this may not mean much to but I am dedicating this and the next subsequent videos to my my pupper and best friend smidge. I recently lost her to a brain tumor at the age of 15. She was my best friend through thick and thin. In her honor all the AdSense revenue for the next few videos will be donated to the organization petrescue.com.au to help fund the rescue and adoption of wild and stray dogs, to help ensure, like smidge, stray dogs united with a loving family. you should try the wing sung 3013. It's a $4 vacuum filler and from my experience, the nib is very good.

I've had a Diplomat Magnum for some time now. It is one of the springiest steel nibs I own (in EF), and while having a bit more feedback that most of my pens, I don't find it distasteful to write with at all. I'm planning on getting one in either turquoise or black in the near future as well. It is, however, VERY, VERY light in the hand, and perhaps that is why I tend not to use it as much as some of my other pens. I've never been unhappy with the nib, though.
I really enjoy how light and small it is: it's my go to for quick notes at work.

Interesting to see your review. I guess I got lucky with mine, as it was fine out of the box. The nib has a bit of feedback, but it’s not unpleasant at all. The main issue to me is the thin grip section, so I hold it about where you do. It is enjoyable to write with because of the bounciness of the nib. So for $20+ American, it’s a good knock-around pen.
Also, I’ve been enjoying using the Artisan Sigaro. I put a Nemosine 0.8 mm stub in it, and like the added flair-makes it a special pen. Thanks.
Good to see you back and happy to subscribe again. I have this pen and have had no nib complaints; writes really well and yes
the nib is a bit soft, line variation is nice. But, I think that for the money, you can look around and do better, e.g., Metro, Safari (when
they are on sale), others as well, and feel like you're getting more for your money. On mine the barrel spins freely
when the pen is capped and there is a bit of play between cap and barrel, don't like that. The nib is great.

Josh, thank you for another insightful and informative review. I have been thinking about getting the Diplomat Magnum, so I appreciate your observations. Your analogy for the Aero was much kinder than mine would have been. Since you asked, a couple thoughts: you may want to work with the tone of your backup wall (a shade or two darker maybe). You tend to get washed out in the video at times. Backgrounds are always a work in progress. Also think about tweaking your lighting for the writing sample section, the shadows tend to be distracting particularly at small format. Keep at it, your reviews are much appreciated. Stay well.
I have 3 Diplomat Magnums (2 from Pen Chalet) and 1 from Goulet Pens. All work wonderfully and post fine. Sounds like you might got a bad one. I agree they might not be everyone due to being a thin pen. Love them as knockabout pens. Keep up the reviews and I'm sorry to hear about your dog.

I own three Artisan's pens made in Australia. :) The only thing missing is a nice Gold nib.

Diplomats are very well made pens. The nibs are amongst the best. The Aero is a Zeppelin, not a lemon squeezer. I hope the magnum comes with a 1.3 Stub, shame it doesn't post.
I have one coming to me soon. I like to think of it as airship as well, but the lemon juicer resemblance is there as well.
Oh, but it does post. I have two, and one of them is an EDC because it posts and because of my poor work at home conditions.
I know but my friend has the lemon squeezer (and I had to study it at university) and all I see is a lemon squeezer when I see that pen
They should've probably used a more cylindrical design, to pest the pen securely. But I still like this pen

Kinda funny in the intro when you talk about established pen companies, as if Diplomat is new. Actually, it's been around as a pen maker for quite some time!

I finally bought one of these. Your video was helpful in setting my expectations, for which my thanks. The pen is a disappointment to me in spite of that. It feels very tacky, cheap, fragile and designed under weak tolerances. The nib is the only part that's any good. The barrel only screws onto the section "vaguely", where it feels like any amount of tightening will shatter it, and this would be necessary if I wanted to have the ink window line up with the nib. When tightened as firmly as I dare, it creaks in the hand and wobbles around. I won't be buying more of these. I can get far more capable pens for a similar price, including from European manufacturers. I'm glad I satisfied my curiosity but I couldn't possibly recommend this to my friends if I wanted them to remain my friends.
Well you should've held the pen in your hand before buying it, you kinda put yourself in that predicament by buying something blindly online... You should probably sell it to someone else who will appreciate this pen, better than keeping it in a drawer and never using it
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess I have no way to test or even hold any pen like this before purchase. There is only one brick & mortar store near me that is even remotely fountain pen aware, and I would not trust their opinion as it is really not their area. There are also no local meetups/clubs into which I can connect. So I have to buy online and take a chance. Usually it works out OK but sometimes not. This was the latter.
