  • For those of you who were watching my Instagram stories while I was in Bali, this day one of the most significant for me. Some of the content in this video is graphic. If you are sensitive, then scroll over, but please watch the rest of the footage and also listen to the main message here. I truly believe that we are all here to help each other on our journey in this life. We can all show more compassion to ourselves and all beings. I am sad to say this little angel is no longer with us. So many beautiful lessons here to those willing to see the positive from this experience. I appreciate you all and pray you show support for this video and in your own communities.

    I'm a vet tech. Putting an animal down is not the same as killing for food. That dog was in immense pain and the diagnoses was terminal. The best option for her to be humane was to let her go to a better place. She was damned the moment she ran in front of the car and there was nothing you could do. A good euthanasia is also dosed with a sedative which lets the animal goto sleep and just not wake up. No more pain, no more keeping the animal alive for your own well being when it's not in the best interest of theirs.

      Udoka O it's an option in some countries though. If you have an incurable disease and you don't want to live with it for the rest of your life in great suffering you can perform assisted suicide in a hospital. It's as humane as doing it to animals that are suffering. If you're in a lot of pain constantly and you know that it will never go away or be as before it isn't right to keep you alive just because your close family would like to have you alive. That's just selfish. This goes for animals in pain as well.

      We are blessed with the ability to humanely euthanize...in my opinion. Ending suffering is sometimes the best decision for the animal

      I couldn't have said this better. Euthanasia, or putting a dog to sleep, does NOT mean the doctor or tech is "killing" the animal, but rather they are helping the animal stop suffering from pain. Humane euthanasia is so much better than letting the dog die from suffering from excruciating pain.

      Tatiana Medeiros Yes you are absolutely right, our actions do change the world. But sometimes in order for us to create change it starts with our thoughts. Praying helps thoughts become actions in a way of clearing the mind in gathering the thought process. Praying is thinking. You may not personally have any beliefs, but I would ask that you can respect others, which takes action.

      Dogs like her can live with the help of a wheelchair. Takes a special person to care for a dog like that, but in the West there are plenty of people willing and wanting to do it. So sad for the dog, there was no hope for her in that backwards place.

  • @tigergirl921

    The sad part is this happens all over the US as well 💔 LA is drowning in abandoned dogs, they get hit and people don't care. Even though there are vets, rescues, shelters readily available people still do nothing. Shelters in California, Texas, Florida, EVERYWHERE are so overwhelmed with stray/abandoned animald that PERFECTLY HEALTHY dogs and puppies and kittens are being euthanized to make space for more to be brought in. Maybe this is a sign you needed to see, maybe this is your calling now. Welcome to the world of animal rescue, you are needed. Your voice is needed. ❤ I'm sorry you had to experience that trauma but I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

    • @breath888
      @breath888 6 років тому +3

      Agreed. I'm sure she meant well, but I was taken aback when she implied that doesn't happen here (when it's on the news every week about abuse and abandonment). And people definitely turn a blind eye to the stray cat population in the States. I do catch and release in my area so they don't keep multiplying. I tell others about it when they complain (something people here are good at; bitching without voting or fighting back). Some you can tell will never participate. Others are more open. Some give time, some donations.
      I find it weird all Balinese are being blamed and labeled for how the people in the video were. Then again, with the US.... I never see all pale blonde men blamed for what Jeffrey Dahmer did. Yet one brown person commits a crime, it is put upon the entire group. All countries evolve at different rates. I say meet people where they're at to create progress. If absolutely no one cared, there would be Zero vet services in Bali. Blame individuals, not entire groups. It's not realistic to think everyone in all these different countries can be on the same page simultaneously. The only reason we're this advanced is because advancement happens much faster when you can rely on free labor/abusing other humans. It's easy to judge from an advanced position on earth. Harder to stop judging, crying, hating, watching, etc to create ideas and take action. Peace

    putting an animal to sleep to put it out of its misery and end the suffering isn't wrong in any way i don't get why she has so much trouble with that, its the most humane and kind thing to do in many cases

      asdfghjkl Agreed. It boggles my mind how people can think otherwise. I was shocked to hear her say she was against euthanasia. When an animal is suffering like that and can't be helped, euthanasia is the most compassionate and humane thing you can do for them...

    • @Wooplot
      @Wooplot 6 років тому +31

      I think it comes from the fact that it's a bit of an easy way out. Animals get complications and vets suggest all the time to put them down, when we don't do that to people. But for many of us, animals mean as much as our brothers, mothers, friends..
      But it looks like in this situation it was a must.

    • @downgurl
      @downgurl 6 років тому +11

      I think it is because here are many examples of when vets say the animal is suffering and will not make it. An then the owner nurses them back to health and they recover to a full happy life.

      JRae Petrocelly okay since Kristina doesn't believe in modern medicine- for fucks sake she had her wisdom teeth pulled without any pain killing materials - that doesn't give her the right to put her (or your) "values" on another person and or living creature! What is she going to do nurse the dog back to health with nice cream and kale juice? The dog was suffering and it sucks but the right thing to do is to put the dog to sleep. Dogs feel pain and putting them through torture by not putting them to sleep is cruel!

  • @cdr72916
    @cdr72916 6 років тому +6

    Kristina, I am a vet tech and a vegan, and I can assure you that humane euthanasia was absolutely the best option in this case. Even with the specialty surgeries we are able to perform at our clinic in America, a spinal injury of this degree is almost always a poor prognosis. In a country with even fewer specialized options, it would have been cruel to attempt to prolong this poor baby's life in this condition. Euthanasia was something I struggled to accept for a long time, but our main priority as vegans is to end and lessen suffering whenever possible, and that, unfortunately, does not always equate with continuation of life. I hope you will rest assured that you spared this sweet dog a lot of pain. Thank you so much for caring enough to find him and provide him with the most peaceful and painless ending to his journey that was possible in this situation. 💕💕💕

    You are an amazing young woman with a huge passion for animals. As I watched this I wanted to reach through my computer and give you a hug. As the pup was crying my precious rescue pup was feeling his pain. By contrast I was once driving along a three lane highway...six if you count the other direction. Cars was flying by us as this dog was trotting along the side of the road. I lost track of how many of us were using our vehicles...driving slow in the lane closest to him to try to prevent him from getting into traffic. This pup ended up crossing traffic...three lanes...three different times. I cant tell you how emotional I was. He finally stopped in a grassy area (not common as I live in the desert) where there were sprinklers on. He was exhausted and no doubt overheated on a day that had temps soaring over 100. One person finally got hold of his collar. Several of us who by this time were like old friends asked if it was his dog. He said no but that he'd been following him for hours...we'd all been doing the same.
    We spent some time with him before the guy who caught up to him contacted the owners who arrived in horrible shape. When we contacted her she was at work unaware of what had happened. The dog had apparently gotten out a doggie door and then escaped his yard. She was emotional to see hear the journey her furry baby had led us on but ever so grateful that people had stopped to protect him. I kept thinking "if this were one of my furry babies I'd want someone to help them". As I left I had no doubt the dog would be safe especially after watching her hold him sobbing as she considered what could have happened to him.
    I'm glad that despite his eventual death this furry baby wasn't alone. He had people there who loved him because he too had a heart. In his final moments I'm sure he felt the love you and the others had for him.
    Thank you for sharing your story and for sharing your heart with another living being. God bless.

    What would have been nice to see is just one person touching this poor pup...even after he was muzzled. He was calm in the vet room. No one sat on the floor...leaving the possibility open for him/her... (because it was referred to as both?), to feel safe to come to human for love. After that pup was muzzled, not one person laid a hand on him. Overall, it was a disturbing video to watch (but necessary because of the message), but incredibly sad he was not comforted with touch before he died. Because there was no video of that, I don't believe it happened. 😔✌️

      I saw a video a while ago where a puppy was dragging his back legs in a park in India and teenagers were kicking the dog. Another man gave the puppy some cookies and left him to fend for himself. What is the matter with people in India?
      How can they be so cruel. All the puppy wanted was get help and be loved.
      In South Korea and China they have very inhumane dog meat farms. The dogs have puppies and the puppies are taken away to be slaughtered. I feel the pain the mothers must feel when her puppies are taken away from her

    Animal rights...? I was cringing the whole time. I felt you disrespected Bali. Accidents happen. Am I totally sad to see a dog get hit by a car? yes very much but as far as this being something that is wrong with the world and our care for animals it's not something that I would focus my energy on. The dog wanted to die in peace, you disregarded this for UA-cam views and money. You didn't let nature take its course. Instead it was muzzled, moved around, x-rayed and strapped down and put to sleep. That in my eyes is more torture. You wouldn't even pet him and I do believe you got bit there so why not focus your energy on getting dogs vaccines in these countries which in turn wouldn't make stray dogs such a threat. The whole video just felt wrong to me.

Those Countries are known to take abused animals from other countries and adapt them. The future however may look different, since since there is so much immigration from Countries, where animals are not treated so kindly.

      Lucy Kelly Do you know how many stray dog there is in india? The hindu country that you said are kinder towards animals? Well surprise, stray dogs are scattered around on each side of the road dying and starving. To add to that there are so many homeless people living on the side of the road, some even died. Did anyone came to help?

    You got to one of the most "spiritual" places on earth, and you find out its a scam. They are only "spiritual" if you have money, and you're a tourist. If you think their treatment for animal life is bad, imagine what they do to their own people and children.

    Last time Kristina was in Bali it appeared to be on a luxurious resort. But it was not the REAL culture of Bali. Lesson: Bali is not LA or the US. The culture there and the outlook on some types of life is different. And not really fair to lash out at the people over there.
    But I too understand how upsetting it is to see animals suffer due to me also having a family pet(s). Continue to live and learn Kristina. You will get thru this trial as well.

    This video touched heart and soul the suffering of Kristina, the impotence of wanting to help, and not having possibilities. moved me, it's true, Kritina is a beautiful woman, but from what I saw of her in this video, her physical beauty is far from the beauty of your soul and after reading many of the comments to this video, as a human wanted many of the people who commented had only a small part of the compassion, the love she showed to have for living beings, humans included, of this planet that we love ...
    and I can only tell you Kristina:
    thank you for being the handsome human being that you are, and wishing you are an example and an inspiration to all of us.

    What is wrong with some people, for all the people who are mad about her filming the dog in pain, she was doing it to find help!! She wasn’t trying to put more drama into the story by crying, she was crying because of how horrible it was and she was upset by it and how people could be so cruel! All of those mad at her, keep it to yourself nobody wants to hear it especially because it isn’t true. She was the nice person in this by actually helping the poor dog, she wasn’t the person in the wrong, don’t give nasty hate comments she tried to save it’s life, at least give her some credit because it’s obvious that this was a very hard situation for her! She literally said she didn’t think she should or could post this but she did because she knew and still knows that there NEEDS to be so much more awareness for these poor creatures in need.
    So from me I think she did I amazing job and I know how hard that would have been but what was done needed to be done as hard as it was so amazing job because I and I believe many others too know what a amazing job you did!

    Thank you for sharing this. I saw a very similar culture in Thailand. I think that it is the result of such human poverty and lack of both funds for and education about animals. No animal should suffer in that way, and as devistating as putting him to sleep was, putting him through such misery for the rest of his days would have been much worse. You did the right thing, Kristina. 💙
    There is such an important message behind this. This dog's suffering is agonizing, and so is the suffering of every animal! Millions of animals are killed every single day so that people can blindly enjoy the taste of their bodies. We must make the connection. Every animal screams in pain when they are killed. this is why people are going vegan.

    You can see that he trusted you when he came out of that little room where he was hiding. He felt your love.
    An animal welfare place in Bali could be your next chapter. Who knows?
    And when you start a crowdfunding I will do my best to reach my friends and share it as often as needed! I will contribute to that with a little donation too!
    Follow your heart! You love this country so maybe that is sign n°1. Maybe the dog was sign n°2?
    Thank you for what you did for the dog. That was so kind!
    Also I had a dog being hit by a car. Same case as this one. The vet wanted to put him to sleep. I refused and went to an other vet. Same story but he could pee when laying down. So I took him home and decided to take care of him and gave him massage and muscle training every day!!
    After 3 months he could walk again.
    So don't always believe the vet. Always follow your internal guidance!
    Lucky was his name and he became almost 20 years old! I mis him...

    If you disagree with euthanasia, please don't open an animal refuge. If you cannot handle doing the best thing for an animal that cannot be saved, then your heart is in the wrong place.
    There is absolutely no way that dog could have had "surgery" or a wheelchair. It's a wild feral dog that you subjected to sitting in his unnatural environment for hours, probably terrified while you struggled to do what was right.

      Lucy Kelly the dog was in clear distress after it was hit. it growled and barked. once it was in the vet, shock could have set in. making it look like it's calm.
      did you even see those xrays? the spin was crushed. it couldn't walk. the car did not just catch the dog's toe.
      if they would have let the dog go, it would have died a horrible painful death. it couldn't use the bathroom.

    Kristina, Houston where you are from has the same crisis with hundreds of thousands of homeless animals, dumped, left behind, people drive and ride by them and won't even feed them much less catch them and be inconvenienced to get them vetted and find them a home. I've personally rescued a few hundred dogs and cats and countless litters born under homes and they just keep showing up needing help, and no one helping them but a tiny percentage of animal rescue people like me. No one cares in any country! But Bali and other resort places are horribly cruel to animals. Brutal. Thank you for caring and taking the time to help that dog.

No matter how big or small, NO life should EVER be taken for granted. It’s up to us to make sure we love and take care of our animals, but also we have the responsibility to make sure they don’t suffer either. Especially When there’s nothing more we can do. I am glad you (a Muslim) can understand she's still trying to do a nice thing.♥ Everyone is acting like Kristina is horrible because there are starving people on the streets. Compassion is free, and with these people suffering, they should feel a bit more compassion for something else that is suffering.You don't need money to care about something. Animals don't have the intelligence to stop breeding, but people do. So, of course I feel awful for the children of Bali, and all other starving children. I also think, though, that adults in these places are not being responsible when having children in such conditions. Of course I understand they might want children, but that is a selfish act when you know you won't be able to feed them.

    I think what you did to get this dog to a vet was wonderful. however you should have had him put down as soon was you got there or at least as soon as you were told nothing could be done. there is no way you can say you 'don't believe in putting animals to sleep'. sometimes it is just the kindest option and by not having him put to sleep asap you only prolonged his suffering.

      FullyRawKristina there was clearly a reason you were there this dog was meant to be seen by you I find that a lot in the animals that come across my path with very similar scenarios people to a kitten was dropped off at my house by my childhood friends mother with a similar crushed lower spine like that it's a miracle she can walk now a kitten was orphaned by its mother recently and we had to feed it every 3 hours by an eyedropper some of them make it some of them don't very special person who takes to do something like this someone who can see the hope versus the hopelessness and yes one of the biggest reasons people don't is cuz they don't know what to do they don't know there is anything they can do much like you were surprised to see how bad the water is and how no one even knows they're probably just as surprised that you think there's anything that can be done which is trying to see from someone else's perspective along with the compassion if anything you've shown them there's another way and they've shown you that that not everybody knows there is

    I will never ....ever forget this video an I've watched hundreds of abused, sick, beaten, etc! It's all your effort to save this poor baby......all to no avail. Yes, she was with people......I'm sure she was terrified. I've seen ALOT worse dogs an they lived cuz vets knew what to do. I truly believe this vet an many don't have the experience. The vet was scared of dog an didn't even want to touch him. Let alone try to save him! Kristina did EVERYTHING anyone could have done!! I wish EVERYONE had your heart, compassion......as I do too! Love / Peace!

    Dogs in poorer countries aren't treated the same as dogs in more developed countries. Coming originally from a poorer country and visiting this April, I know that for a fact. Animal shelters aren't really a thing and dogs live on the streets. But what u have to remember is that there are CHILDREN and PEOPLE suffering and struggling to take care of themselves, drinking dirty water and living in poverty, so don't blame them for this. It's sad, but unfortunately it's real :(

      In no way am I ok with human poverty, but human beings have the conscious ability to stop reproducing if they know they are poor. There wouldn't be as many starving children if there weren't so many of them being born into poverty. You don't need sex to survive. Sorry.

    Omg so many idiots in the comments section. I get that Bali is a poor country but when she was asking for help why didn't anybody stop??? It's not that they were dying or something? She didn't even ask for money. You don't have to be rich to be compassionate. Sadly humans have always been selfish. Why would they even care for a dog? For them only human lives matter.

    Kristina. I am born in the US and my family is from Indonesia. It is completely unfair and irrational for you to compare the villages of Bali to LA. People vacation in Bali but never see what Indonesian culture is like behind closed doors. It is a country with a lot of poverty. There are people and CHILDREN being mistreated and neglected. How can the people of those villages think twice about an animal when they don't even know if they can take care of their own children or families? I love animals and I am an animal owner myself. I had two dogs in Indonesia both who I loved and believe me, I was first very sad to see that they weren't fed as much as they should have been. But my family in Indonesia struggles to feed themselves and they do their best. I followed you because I admired your ideals about the environment and all living creatures. But please do not dismiss the fact that people of Indonesia and other countries are starving, dying, and being forgotten over it as well. It is extremely hard for underprivileged people to overstep their capabilities for someone else before they can take care of themselves. I pray that you see this country for what it is and why this is not just an animal problem, but a humane problem.

      Trust me, it hurt to watch this video and to see this beautiful creature suffer, but it's not one person's fault, or 5 other peoples' fault. It's a collective issue surrounding poverty and humane rights

      tomxxdee It's the uncaring asshole's fault that hit the dog and drove away. Your status in life should have no bearing on your ability to have compassion for people or animals. Bali looks like a dump. There are much nicer retreats in Hawaii. Hopefully Kristina will go there next time and stay out of the turd world.

      tomxxdee thank you for you educated statement. Kristina is now growing and expanding her horizons she has no idea what those citizens are going through everyday but she will learn. She is just experiencing a culture shock. Visiting a country is very different from living in a country. I'm kinda upset at her reaction..I'm glad she helped the dog but thus video really bothered me and she has a lot of growing to do.

    • @tomxxdee

      B Wil thanks for acknowledging my comment and reacting to what my message was. I apologize if my reaction seemed aggressive, but it is a very frustrating issue. Overall, you are right and many people need to learn. Her video began with "I want to send a message about animal rights in impoverished countries" so she acknowledges it is an impoverished country, but she is still blind to understand what that means for the individuals, environment, and animals..... Thank you

    • @tomxxdee
      @tomxxdee 6 років тому +35

      She is quick to assume that the people of Indonesia lack compassion, and the irony is, she is showing dis-compassion by dismissing what they go through as individuals in this country and why that would mean there is a lack of care for animals and eachother.

    Kristina, you were very courageous, compassionate and kind to this poor, poor dog. Animals deserve the same respect and empathy that children do. You felt for him and you did your very best to help him! I commend you for your deep compassion. You were an angel to this poor, unwanted and unseen dog. You saw him and recognized his suffering and helped him! THANK YOU FOR BEING AN ANGEL ON EARTH!! Bravo to you! MORE HUMANS should do the same!

    You are amazing! I would have done the same thing! You did everything in your power to save that dog's life! It is a proven fact that people who are compassionate towards animals are more compassionate towards humans! The U.S. still has many kill shelters where people just dump their dogs/cats because they do not want them anymore or they are too old. My daughter and I both work with the schools to educate children on the importance of spaying and neutering animals and to adopt and not shop for their next pet.
    I think you have found your new calling...I believe the entire world should have more compassion for animals!
    This quote from Gandhi is perfect- "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

    l've just watched this video and was brought to tears! Sobbing for what this poor darling animal suffered.
    l cannot fathom the cruelty and how detached these people are from reality as to feel nothing for a living breathing being.
    l commend you for filming and posting this video. Awareness and some form of education is required in this country coupled with laws to be put in place protecting animals.
    That would never happen here in Australia.
    It's absolutely infuriating to see animal's that are neglected and treated as less than.
    They too have a heart that beats.
