- A review of the chinesium harbor freight maddox brand tool to vacuum fill your cooling system after repairs. It works as advertised provided you use it right, which I did not do.
If you have a car with a reverse cooling system like a Ford Fusion or Escape, your best bet is one of these tools to fill it right.
Also as an added benefit, you can test your cooling system for leaks BEFORE filling it up!
Great video!
Good job man. I just did my Motorhome diesel pusher and just fyi ,use a clean bucket that you can see the level, I see you mentioned it at the end but its good for people to see it in writing. nice video
Thank you for the video try mine. Today winter around the corner. Don't want any air in the heating core.
Another tip, not having used one before (but bought one today) is to submerge the intake hose in the fluid filling it with coolant (rather than air) before you hook it up to the tool. Otherwise before it sucks up coolant it is sucking up all of the air that is in the tube first.
So I used this tool over the weekend. It was pretty easy overall. I did submerge the intake hose in water first. However it wouldn’t work right without some valves to close it off. So I had to cut the hose and add valves to both ends so the water would get locked inside of the hose. I think it worked pretty well.
I wasn’t able to hold vacuum for some reason. The radiator, water pump and expansion tank were brand new. I think (hope) it was because my expansion tank had a barbed vent on it at the fillet neck. I had to cover it up to get vacuum at all. I am hoping that some air was coming in through that rather than somewhere else. I also hope that it didn’t cause too much air to get into the system. The entire purge may have been a waste of time for me.
Curious if you could crack open the fill valve when you are still hooked up to air pulling a vacuum. Maybe it will fill the refill line.
Ford Tech Macaluco is the best Ford guy to get info from, no doubt.
That is the same one as the Ares unit which worled really good
Use a 5gallon bucket to avoid air pockets. Better to have too much coolant. Make sure you have at least 4 gallons of coolant.
I have only one stupid question here: Do you have your wide-screen TV standing on its short side?
No blow molded case comes ready to change the configuration of the tool stored at best they come with the ability to store fittings in a common area if you want to change the configuration of plastic use a heat gun to warm the plastic and then use a piece of metal to push the plastic in and allow it to cool then remove the metal blaming a company because they didn't make the blow molded case to accommodate a custom modification seems a little ridiculous
Did you use this to suck out the coolant out and what air compressor you using?
Nope, just dumped it normally
Do i need to go through the coolant overflow or can i use the rad cap
Everything I have seen was throight the overflow. So I am nor sure because I am pretty sure the overflow is not air tight? 🤔
If you did grab air couldn't you just repeat the vacuum process and add more juice?
I am not sure tbh
Can I check for leaks with it not empty?
If you use this without it empty the excess coolant will be expelled out the venturi exit, the left port, opposite the compressed air intake. The Air Lift version of this tool, my shop has it, has a discharge tube for it, but you got to swap the venturi hose for the fill hose and it's a big pain in the ass.
Also if your air compressor has moisture in it, that will be expelled out the exhaust as well.
Just got this for my 17 dodge journey. I'll never buy Chrysler again.
I’m dealing with a 12 3.6 liter smh shit is serious headache I’m losing sleep foreal
