  • Let's go flying: Inside the cockpit of the Rotax 912iS-powered Zenith STOL CH 750
    Roger from Zenith Aircraft Company takes us flying in a Zenith STOL CH 750 powered by a Rotax 912iS Sport engine, demonstrating the short take-off and landing capability of this aircraft. The Rotax 912iS engine is based on the proven concept of the Rotax 912ULS engine, and the new 912iS engine offers all well known advantages of the Rotax 4-stroke engine series complemented by additional features, e.g. engine management system. The complete package presents the latest technology in the aircraft engine industry and will enhance the flying and ownership experience of pilots.

    I'm always blown away by how quickly these Zenith airplanes get off the ground. I guess the wings aren't very efficient for high speed flight, but wow are they ever great for short takeoffs and landings!

    I REALLY like this combination..... the 750 with an iS912.... seems like it is PERFECT. I am so close to making the commitment to build one of these.... LOVED this video

      Rotax is an very respectable manufacturer! Snow mobiles engines, even motorcycles (BMW 650cc!).
      The only drawback is the complexity of the installation. Look at the Honda engines worked by Viking Engines to find out the really perfect combination! The Honda engines are produced by hundreds of thousands, these are modern design, not 50 or 60 year old design! And not to forget: overhaul intervals and spare parts prices!!!

      @@gigiservola142 the reliability is not there. Even the OWNER of Viking engines had a forced landing and abandaoned his trip to Alaska with an engine that had less than 500 hours on it. NOT reliable... NO auto engine is made to run at 75-85% power all the time. When forced to run at that much power, all the time, reliability goes way way down.

      @@MrZrryan2 I believe the actual issue was the gearbox could not handle the new 5 bladed prop. They have since added a new gearbox and have had no issues.

    Do you have plan for a newer, longer video of a STOL CH 750 with a UL Power 350iS featuring specs and performance that specific aircraft?

    Is the 912 just a tad weak with the extra weight of the CH750?

    How do these compare to a super cub or a kitfox?

    My flying school has both the ULS and IS in the fleet so I get to compare the two all of the time. The only differences I seem to notice is that the IS is a little better on fuel burn and I like the throttle play on the IS WAY better. I feel like the throttle range is more linear on the IS where as on the ULS it's more progressive. But I honestly can't tell the difference at all when it comes to just performance. I should also note that my field elevation is 100ft. I assume that the IS out performs the ULS at high altitudes but I rarely go above 5500ft. Just thought I would add my two cents here if anybody was wondering how the IS differed from the ULS in flight.

      Can you tell me more differences between the two? When you say better fuel burn on IS how much fuel burn is on typical Cruise on both? Thanks

      Gary B Wood why don’t u just order the whole set up? For even less. And just make it in your garage. Don’t buy someone else’s.

    • @Redbirdstol
      @Redbirdstol 2 роки тому

      You can get a dual stick option, and if you build it, you can put the throttle in the center. I fly with the Y stick. I actually like it a lot.

      @@Redbirdstol thanks for the reply, I guess it would be smart to try to fly one with the “Y” before deciding if I like it or not. I’ve just been going with first appearance.
