Signo DX is irreplaceable for me. Sarasa Nano is a nice pen for long note taking session. However the ink is still the usual Sarasa ink that slightly scratchy with any tips below 0.4. Uni One is a good daily beater, has richer pigment colors and won't easily ghosting on cheap papers. And I still hate Energel, too slippery to write with on something like Rhodia.
I am a bit of a "fountain pen snob" but even I must admit everyone needs a Uni-ball Signo! Another benefit of extra-fine nibs is that it naturally makes your handwriting look better. Last year when I had time to 'work' on my handwriting, the very first and easiest thing that worked was thinner lines. Second way increasing my slant. Both tips I picked up from JetPens videos.✒🖋👍👏
I had a Pilot Hi Tec 0.3 which I had used in uni. When I finished uni, I left it in my pencil case. Fast forward 10 years, during which I started work, got married, had kids. I then started a volunteer work which was desk work, so out came my good old pencil case. Amazingly, my Hi Tec still worked and ran smoothly until the ink finished. If you have a Hi Tec, treasure it!
@@arapaimagold8088 That was just a myth. Because those who actually use this pen are very "careful" with their stuff to begin with anyway. And the ink writes until the LAST DROP.
@@arapaimagold8088 Will kinda disagree with this one. A 0.3 g-tec (a hi-tec variant) I had pre-pandemic survived a lot of falls and a broken nib, but it still works. That was my holy grail g-tec, since aside from the ones mentioned above that thing doesn't skip too much and is just a marvel to write with. My new one had a lot of ink distribution and skips a lot, so I had to switch to a signo dx.
I have been writing almost exclusively with Pilot Frixion pens (in the .38, .4, and .5 sizes) for the last three years. As someone who has habitually messy handwriting and often makes mistakes, having it erase so easily and so well is a definite plus for me.
My very favorite fine tip gel pens are the Pilot 0.4 Juice Up pens ❤️ I want to thank JetPens for helping me find these, and I love using them in my Hobonichi & Jibun Techo planners.
Pentel EnerGel all the way! I love the Clena body - there are lots of compatible replacement cartridges so you can have almost any color of the rainbow!
In my College days in Engineering it was G-tec or Hi-tec 0.3. It's think enough that it doesn't bleed thru on paper. Writes smooth and nice when solving equations. I wish it would give me answers to the solutions then it would be perfect.
Uni-ball One dries fastest on Tomoe River paper, faster than everything else you mentioned on this list, so they're perfect for this leftie, and so many saturated colors!
Hi everyone. It is 12:19 am in Ireland now. I was listening to Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. It is a radio drama , of a famous French book that was made into films and musicals too but then, I saw this ad and had to come. It just about some gel pens?!! What's wrong with me and I have 2 hours, of the radio drama left! 🙄😒 22nd of February 2022, from Ireland 💚🇮🇪💚
I write in cursive all the time (not a flex, my printing is awful, haha), so I've found fine tip helps make my writing look neater and more readable, where a thicker nib makes the letters less crisp and tidy. Love the Pentel Energel (blue/black) and Uniball Vision Elite (blue black), both in 0.5. Keen to try some of these.
FriXion pens have been my daily driver since discovering them in grad school. Back then, I used the 0.7 in my research notebooks. These days, I use the 0.38 in my bullet journal, specifically a Ball 2 Biz 2 with black and an accent color I swap out every month. The FriXion 0.38 pens are so good for planners, cannot recommend enough.
I’ve used pretty much all the 0.28/0.3mm available on the market (Sarasa, Juice Up, Signo RT1, Signo Dx, Jetstream edge,Style Fit, Acroball, Hi Tec C, Dong A Fine Tec , Energel, M&G. Among these, the Juice Up, Energel and Hi TeC (0.3 not 0.25mm) are the only ones that can write without giving the typical scratchy feeling for the .3mm range, the rest always scratches into oblivion. For me the Juice Up is not as easy to control as the others, it’s ball is so tiny to the point that I think it’s
I've been using the uniball signo almost exclusively for the past seven years or so and am feeling very validated that it's such a universally loved pen.
I use a Hi-Tec-C Coleto with 0.3mm pen tips for my bullet journal. I needed a journal book that was small enough to fit in my purse, and I write pretty small in small notebooks, so the extra-fine tip sizes on the components for the Coleto work really well for me. Plus, the assortment of colors are perfect for all the color-coding I do for my bullet journal. For day-to-day writing, though, I always recommend the Uni Ball Signo to my friends and family.
I have to say, I like the Pilot G2 in a 0.38 mm the best. It writes wetter than other pen of that size, and I have gotten a couple of pens with burs on the ball, however it is my favorite. Price to value, I really like the g2. The downside it is only available in {B, Blue, R, G}, and the line feels more bold (a plus for me) when compared to a Uni ball, Zebra Sarasa, or Pilot Hi-tec-C, (or even a Pilot Juice up).
I'm here watching this video because I use them religiously, but there's a common issue where the roller ball falls out and you have to get a new pen/refill. I hope these have better quality control.
I find that Energel ink turns gray when you write over white-out with it, but the Sarasa ink does not, so once I finish my Energel refills, I'm gonna go with Sarasas. If they can fit in my Clena barrels, even better!
I love the Pilot Frixion in .38 for my Jibun Techo DAYs planner! (Although I'm not used to writing with erasable pens so I sometimes forget I can erase mistakes instead of marking them out, lol)
I started using fine-tip gel pens to fill out forms and fell in love! I have used the Pilot Juice Up for over 6 years now. If you work with forms, 0.38mm will make work a lot easier. I did try the Pilot Frixion in black 0.38, but it was soooo lightly pigmented. It looked like a pencil. Definitely do not recommend, had to return them.
I am a professional Pitmanic Shorthand writer and love smallest size of the tip size. In this regard, ultimately I got upon Sakura Pigma Micron Pen with tip sizes 003, 005 and 01. For underscoring in the books, I use 003; I use 005 for writing shorthand and when some bold writing is required I use 01. The ink used in this brand of fineliners is water resistant and messy less. They are very dear to me, always. However, I am unable to this brand of fine liners with Royal Blue ink.
Loves me some Zebra Sarasas and I do like to write small as possible sometimes for practice just to see if the pen moves the way I imagined it would, but generally stay away from anything smaller than 0.4mm, especially in lighter colors, because they tend to stop writing the quickest to me. That said, 0.4 and 0.5mm is where it's at for me, lol, 1.0mm would seem like using a chisel on a stone tablet after finally being exposed to those sizes. BTW, fantastic shot at 6:25...it's a tempting sampler bundle.
loved your video waiting for next and i got a journal set from jet pens Thankyou💗💗 for the lovely thing i will bye more things from jet pens any spelling mistake Please forgive me 😅
I use fine tip gel for sketching out the cat design from midori ruler. Fine tip is able to pick up the details, while boarder tip is good for filling in the colour.
I love using fine tip gelpens especially when I'm writing on small post its or papers. May top choice is also the Uniball Signo, I use 0.28. But I also love the 0.38 frixion pens and the Uniball One.
I'm a slow-writer and also my handwriting are small, so I prefer 0.3 - 0.4 conical tip. zebra sarasa is my go-to pen, especially the mark-on, bcs it's smear proof. but I recently use pentel energel RTX one. feels amazing on paper, and becoming my daily pen!
Fountain pens are always my first choice.. Nothing writes as well, and nothing improves handwriting more than a fountain pen. But when I must use a gel pen , I use the Energel. For a rollerball I use the Pilot Precise V5. Not all of these are gel pens. Gel pens use gel based ink, of course, but rollerballs use liquid ink identical to fountain pen ink. Ballpoints, on the other hand, use oil based ink. It's wise to know the difference. The Pilot Precise V5 is a rollerball and uses liquid ink. No gel in it.
Warning about the frixion pens: if you leave stuff in the hot sun, the ink can vanish that way too. A college teacher I had warned us that it happened to one of her previous students. She (the teacher) had left her grading in the car and the page on top of the pile had significantly faded. She was still able to read it but still.
i love sarasa and uniball signo and i use them interchangeably. i find uniball is finer but sarasa is just an all rounder. i think i fell in love more with writing after i discovered them
I just got the Pilot Juice Up pastel set and I love them. The colors show up nice on white paper (except the white one of course). I bought the Sarasa Milk gel pens and they where not that good. These Juice up pastels are much better.
I'm such a sucker for Frixion pens 😩 I am both sporadic in mind and very very critical of spelling mistakes and hate the way a page full of scribbled out spelling mistakes or worse the "I didn't mean to put that sentence there" long scratch out, so Frixion is actually my perfect pen.
Loving this video!!! Long live fine point pens!!! I want and need them all! But uh....we're just gonna ignore the the greatness of the PENTEL HYBRID TECHNICA 0.3 Pen?!!! the best to ever do it!
Here because my fourth Pilot G2 0.38mm pen had its roller fall out. Are any of these refillable? I write a *lot* so I'd like a pen where I don't have to buy a whole new one each time
The "lasts longer" argument is not always true. Pentel energel, starting from 0.4 and smaller (also zebra sarasa's) have an about twice as smaller inner refill diameter. So that is that.
The smaller the tip size, the scratchier they become. Jetpens should sell a sample collection that has each of the pens mentioned in different tip sizes. Like they do with the colors and types of ink. That way people can get a few and then try them out to see what they like best.
@@getturkeyvirus - I have bought plenty of pens from Jetpens over the years. Saying that having a sample of different brands in one size, a person can try different ones and then pick the best one for them. What is "best" for one person, might very well be the "worst" for someone else.
@@arapaimagold8088 - Then state that in the recommendations. More people will buy the pens and not the paper that is claimed to work well with them. Most people will still use the paper that they have been using for years. And not order paper that specifically works with certain pens and not others.
@@ackman3981 I'm not sure what you're saying. You originally talked about the possibility of a sample pack. The current sample packs on jetpens are comprised of individual full size pens that you can purchase individually on the site. The sample packs provide less than a dollar discount (I think they add them up and round down to the nearest dollar). Because they sell individual pens, you could create a sample pack of individual pens of different tip sizes.
Hello, I really like your videos, I think they have super interesting ideas, and the products they present are great. I would like to know if they ship to Mexico City. Thank you very much and best regards!
I love my Pentel Energetic Clena 0.4 but my favourite is the Uni-ball Signo 0.38...so smooth! ❤ Really want to try the Sarasa Vintage but they don't do tips smaller than 0.5. 😭
i also find (some) fine-tip pens useful for replacing fineliners that don't have refills, and taking off the cap everytime i want to use a fineliner is a bit annoying (yes, i'm lazy)
I like gel pens but I can’t get over the fact that they are disposable plastic and/or use disposable plastic cartridges. I know it’s not much but it’s still something. With a fountain pen you can cut out so much plastic and only use a glass bottle of ink every few months (depending on usage of course)…
Hey! If your main concern is the disposability of gel pens made of plastic, there are metal pens that can use gel ink refills. Examples of metal pens are BIGiDESIGN Ti Arto EDC Pen, Tactile Turn Bolt Action Pen, and Parker Jotter(there are many Parker-style gel ink refills available like Schmidt, Ohto, Monteverde, Schneider etc. You may want to try them).😊
My favourite is kenko hi-tech H 0.28. Perfect for my small handwriting and very smooth. But it is very fragile, once it fell the pen will immediately die😢
I have a problem with a gel pen you may not know, I got a deli q106 with 0.5mm tip. But it feels a bit scratchy and it's noisy. I'm planning on getting pilot frixion ball or should I get a pilot hi-techpoint v5 rollerball pen?
If you'd like a pen that's less scratchy, the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Gel Pen and Pilot Precise V5 Rollerball Pen are both super smooth! The FriXion isn't scratchy but the gel flow is less than the other two. www.jetpens.com/Pilot-Hi-Tec-C-G-Tec-C-Gel-Pens/ct/3381 www.jetpens.com/Pilot-Precise-V5-Pens-Standard/ct/2532

First, can I say, I love your videos! And… can you please tell me what the planner is that you are using in the section on the Uni-ball Signo pens…. I think I need that in my life :D.
Pentel Energel 0.4 for taking notes seems to be the best fit for me. I haven't tried all the pens on this list, but the Signo would be my second choice. I just don't like the Juice Up build quality.
Hi do you still have the Uni-ball Signo DX 0.28? Love to use that, but unable to find it. Thanks for the upload. Hope you can let me know where I can get them?
I love gel pens when first purchased, writes very well, problem is that they stop writing after a week or so, I wish I could find a pen that wi keep on going
@jetpens what ever happened to the little jingle that used to start every video. My spouse loved it and would actively come running into the room if she heard it. BRING BACK THE JINGLE!!!!
funny tho, I'm always wanting to get my 0.7 G2 ink to run out so I could use 0.5 😅 but until now it still has ink. it's the ink with pilot vega and it was the only size with it. I didn't want to be wasteful, so I put up with using it since I bought it August of last year.

Which one of these is the most fade resistant over time? I love journaling and would love to be able to look at older entries in the future
Uni One and Signo DX.
The Uni-ball One is archival-quality! www.jetpens.com/Uni-ball-Signo-UM-151-Gel-Pens/ct/286
I think the best fine tip retractable pen is uni-ball one 0.38mm
I miss the Pentel Slicci 0.4 pens. They were my favorites back when I first discovered JetPens many years ago.
The smallest pen tip size I owned is 0.28mm
Just barely larger than a quarter millimeter
And I bought it from the local book store at (converted from local price to USD) _less than 20 cents_
Please review Indian stationery. We would love watching it
Hello, I really like your videos, I think they have super interesting ideas, and the products they present are great. I would like to know if they ship to Mexico City. Thank you very much and best regards!
Hi there! We ship to Mexico. Just set it as your country when checking out on our site.
I love my Pentel Energetic Clena 0.4 but my favourite is the Uni-ball Signo 0.38...so smooth! ❤ Really want to try the Sarasa Vintage but they don't do tips smaller than 0.5. 😭
freaking love jetpens so cool good videos
My favorite fine point is Pilot's Acroball white pen. It is gel and oil combined. Very smooth. I hate when a fine point nib scratches.
I have the Uni One pens and the ink skips. Another flaw that I don't like in a pen.
Just dipped a quarter of the refill in hot water. Should cure the problem.
i also find (some) fine-tip pens useful for replacing fineliners that don't have refills, and taking off the cap everytime i want to use a fineliner is a bit annoying (yes, i'm lazy)

Love my Sarasa 0.3
In the shop that I went they only had uni signo in black 😭
Till now I'm using uniball eye ultra micro ub 150-38 gel pen, but this is available in amazon too, can u pls suggest best similar gen pen to use, I prefer small tip gel pens 0.3mm, 0.4mm, pls give me suitable choice of pens this category.
I was addicted to uniball eye ultra micro ub 150-38. But uniball stopped it producing
Does anyone know what planner was used at timestamp 1:22 ? 😄 Thank you in advance!
Hi there! That's a Luddite Function Pro Parallel Planner. www.jetpens.com/Luddite-Function-Pro-Notebook-A5-Parallel-Planner/pd/31994
Uniball signo 4 life
I love gel pens when first purchased, writes very well, problem is that they stop writing after a week or so, I wish I could find a pen that wi keep on going
BRO- Im so stupid ive been searching for the frixion pen online and turns out i have mutiple of them 🤦
@jetpens what ever happened to the little jingle that used to start every video.
Pentel energel, uniball signo dx é zebra sarasa clip
Pilot G3 0.38mm is just fine.
As a leftie without claw-handwriting posture, I really struggle with the ink flow
Uni Jetstream is probably your best bet... you can get them in 0.28 as well now I think.
