In the mid 70s Richard Burton was the lead in the play "Camelot". My mom and I went to see the play at the Pasadena Play House but just days before we saw it Richard Burton had a heart attack. While he was in recovery Richard Harris filled in. Although I felt bad for Mr. Burton I had just seen this version on TV so my association of Arthur was of the face or Mr. Harris and I felt it one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.
I remember being taken by my parents to see this film, it evokes so many childhood memories all good, such a fantastic musical score, every song a joy to listen to.
Richard Harris was the best character for thetragic King. HArris successfully conveyed the King's psyche likely necessary to engender progessive qualties oppostie those of a toltaliantary regimes. Harris conveys a sinse of kindness, patience, what we expect in a progressive mind.
I really love this song "Camelot" and this scene... I love the part when Guinevere is throwing snowballs at the guards trying to protect him from being captured... and she finally realizes that he is the King when everyone starts bowing down in front of him....
God I love Richard Harris! 'Camelot' is based on the book 'The Once And Future King' by T.H. White. Richard Harris was able to channel the unique charm, humor, tragedy and magic of the book in a way I don't think anybody else could have done.
I love that Arthur and Guinevere actually fall in love with each other here , and so while theirs is an arranged marriage of Royalty , it also becomes a TRUE marriage of LOVE .
Remebering my sweet and tender childhood , thanks God that i was and happy girl you blessed all those years another age and time when the children only dream and play😀😃😄😁😆😭😘☺️🥰😍😍😚😗😙🤗🙂🧙🧙🧝👸🤴⛪💒🏰🕌🕍🎆🎇🎀🎀🎈🎈🎂🎉🧸✝️🕎✡️🇦🇷🇮🇱🇺🇸🇲🇽
+Nancy Fintak.I too,was Mesmerized by This musical.I saw it when I was 9.and at different times throughout my life,a Verse would come to me,and I didn't know from Where. So,I would Ponder while it Drifted. Then,God would let it Enter. I was in a consignment shop, bartering over A DoubleDay copy of "Gone with the Wind" (huh!) and God stepped in Àgain and my eye caught "Camelot" on double VCR cassets.75 cents.I grabbed it.I had an original GWTW,I read it Every summer. but,I have to say,"My Fair Lady" with Audrey and Rex is an Awfully close Second.Thank You SO much.I watch bits nd pieces on this phone now.Always,
Gemma Doyle I do know that Richard Burton did play King Arthur on stage.... Im not sure what this reference was made to ... the film? Definitely Richard Harris! 💙
Luz Hernandez, You are indeed correct! (Smiles) Btw- See my response to 'Cindy B' (right above your name) I too am talking about the typical Burton/Harris mix up that many people make. (Heh)
Richard Harris made a great King Arthur...and so did Doris Day!...Harris once told the story that Doris Day was so taken by King Arthur that she invited Harris to co-star with her in her next movie. Ms Day was one of Harris's dream girls and he jumped at the chance to meet her. He said one of the funniest things he had ever seen was the look of total shock when Ms Day saw him for the first time. She was expecting King Arthur, but instead in walked a red haired, beardless, freckle faced Irishman in a jeans and shirt! She barely spoke to Harris during the making of the movie, which was a disaster and finished her movie career.....Harris's tried not to imagine what Doris Day looked like without make up but he said she had a great figure for a lady of her vintage!
I really do believe that Vanessa Redgrave was the reason the movie failed when released. She was to hard of a look and personality for the role. Richard at the time was near an unknown, but did a fine job in the role as Arthur. The look the file was trying to pull off worked well at times, and failed at times; with todays computers it could be done better. Burton and Andrews or even Harris and Andrews would have been a better movie.
Love this movie but hard to watch now ......with watching the known transgenderism of VR. It's just crow magnum jaw all the way through..... One could slay dyerwolves with that jaw bone....🤮🤮🤮
What a wonderful and beautiful movie! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I'm just a teenager but I was raised on this movie, I love it and I can't believe others don't know of it
Richard Harris was one of the most talented underrated actors in the business
FooBar Maximus You should admit, both Burton and Harris do a great job playing King Arthur. They each have their own versions.

A love story for the ages. At age 10 I immersed myself in the Arthurian Legend and "Camelot." 50 years later I still love this story and the film.
+Nancy Fintak same here I love this film
Fairy tales . . . you, and Walt Disney, and everyone else knows instinctively they are preferred to reality.
Ditto!

To those commenting on it being Harris not Burton, know that Richard Burton originated the role in the stage musical.
I saw him in Boston in the late 70's. Wonderful Wonderful musical.
Why does it say Richard Burton? It is the wonderful Richard Harris. Saw his one man show in the 1970s. Wonderful.

God I love Richard Harris!

this is Richard Harris! not Richard Burton.....
Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment, that was known as Camelot
Arthur's face at 3:34 so cute.
Lots of wet and windy nights in Camelot.
Saw the premiere in 1967...just arriving in New York City....
What a man....
What an actor...
john fallen he looks as gay as a picnic basket!

You got a great deal at .75.
I have the double VHS tape.
Just need to get a new VCR, haha.
no one did this role better than Harris!
Oh how I loved this film. Must know every word of each song (to my husband's
dismay !! LOL).
This song always reminds me of JFK and makes me cry.
Richard Harris is The Only Wart aka King Arthur hehe
He looks like he was about to crack up laughing out loud.
A law was made a distant moon ago here.
great!
Les deseo muy pero muy buena suerte !
He's the best, singing with emotion and expression! Richard Burton just can't compare to him.
Richard Harris
Love this movie! And yes, is Richard Harris, not Richard Burton.
I would love to marry King Arthur and be his queen
Oh, my godness! Arthur has eye shadow work!
Morgan Lefay gay as a picnic basket !
Such A shame That Horses Ass Lancelot Got His way And Stole Her heart .Poor King
And here I am thinking Camelot was rather a silly place
She is so gorgious.
Labeled wrong this is Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave.
Vanessa was never lovelier. 🌹
love them both but can't compare to the originals!
❤️🌎❤️
that is not richard burton, it;'s richard harris
If it isn't Burton, it isn't Camelot.
There is an error there: Richard Harris is not Richard Burton.
1967
It's not Richard Burton, but Richard Harris
Gemma Doyle I do know that Richard Burton did play King Arthur on stage....
Im not sure what this reference was made to ... the film?
Definitely Richard Harris! 💙
He is Richard Harris, not Richard Burton.
Luz Hernandez, You are indeed correct! (Smiles) Btw- See my response to 'Cindy B' (right above your name) I too am talking about the typical Burton/Harris mix up that many people make. (Heh)
It's Richard "HARRIS" NOT Richard Burton, my goodness if you don't know the difference, don't even pretend to know the time period!
he really talks a lot about camelot
That's Richard Harris, NOT Richard Burton!
The heading states Richard Burton as the actor-serious mistake!!!
It's only a model.
shh
This was Richard HARRIS not Burton
TITLE HAS RICHARD BURTON NOT RICHARD HARRIS IN THE FILM...GEEZ
Did he ever name that horse?
in camelot
Richard Burton is much better - superior in everyway. But not to dismiss Richard Harris he is still brilliant.
the Kennedy time was called CAMELOT.....sadly same sad fate as in this great film......
This is Richard Harris not Richard Burton!!!!!!!
That’s RICHARD HARRIS, not BURTON.
it's Richard Harris not Burton ok it's Sir.Richard Harris he was knighted
How she fell for Lancelot. When this absolutely gorgeous man.Was besotted with her.Is anyone's guess.

I love this movie so much!!!!
And I hate Lancelot and Guenevere ¬¬
That's what happens in life, noble hearts get broken and betrayed
If they did a modern version....George Clooney as Arthur, Brad Pitt as Lancelot...
I really do believe that Vanessa Redgrave was the reason the movie failed when released. She was to hard of a look and personality for the role.

Burton and Andrews or even Harris and Andrews would have been a better movie.
Tellgryn she was too left wing and pro Palestinian
I agree completely..... IMDB said she was certainly sexy enough. NOT.
Love this movie but hard to watch now ......with watching the known transgenderism of VR. It's just crow magnum jaw all the way through.....
One could slay dyerwolves with that jaw bone....🤮🤮🤮
