My wife is Icelandic, came up to me in a bar and asked my full name, she said 'I am not letting you get away ''. That was twenty years ago. Crazy women.
that was beautiful she's defff a keeper, love straight to the point women
Great woman!
Crazy as in a good way in life and bed? Or crazy in a bad way??
That's quite a Viking woman.
I witnessed a similar situation with a German gay. He replied the 🚺; nein, nein, nein. The lady thought he was threatening to call the police.
You forgot the part where she beats you in armwrestling, and you discover she's a Crossfit champion and her father lifts giant boulders for fun. Her name is Thorsdottir, you should have known.

I was deployed to Iceland for a while. Had a friend who dated an Icelandic woman. She took him home to meet her parents. When she went out of the room, her parents told him they hoped he enjoyed dating their less intelligent daughter, because she only spoke 4 languages and their other one spoke 7.
what a horrible thing to say about your own daughter... 4 languages is a lot everywhere.

I have two great grandmothers who were sisters named Hendrixdochter. They were Dutch. Using Patronymics is a very old custom among the Nordic and Germanic peoples. The names used to change with each generation. One great grandfather was Cornelis Aertsen. His son was Peter Cornelisen. His daughter was Belitje Cornelisdochter. It got very confusing for the English because there could be many people with the same names so some added the place they were from like van der Bilt (from or of the Bilt)
Ugh, whenever I travel with my family and we are in a foreign airport, they'd always ask why our last names don't match. Annoying as hell!!!

So true hello 👋
From my experience dating some Icelandic girls in Denmark:
- They only take the initiavite in Iceland. When they're abroad, men are expected to do the first move, as usual. In the best case, what can happen is that if they feel like they want to sleep with somebody that night and you are considered acceptable for the task and available, they may tell you directly that after the date they want to go to your place etc, but this doesn't imply they're interested in you. You must be aware of this behaviour (which is in general true for Scandinavian) and accept it or it will lead to unpleasant situations.
- They may be quite picky , even in Iceland... Don't believe that you go to Iceland and girls will go after you just for being an outsider.
Good thing: they are really friendly for being Scandinavians, they talk to people and don't get spooked if you talk to them before alcohol kicks in.
night and you are considered acceptable for the task and available," dammma haha thats osunds sad asf
Icelanders are not Scandinavian.
this is like heaven. my mind doesn`t accept this video and what you wrote. it is against the flow of life. and i look like the guy in this video. holy jesus i will look up the flights to rejkvajik. and i know FOR SURE, when i go there, it will be NOTHING like the video and what you wrote, it sounds too good to be true!!!
I had once sex with an Icelandic girl and she took all iniative and was very straightforward with her sexual intentions. This was in Thailand where I met her and I have actually never been to Iceland
@@asbisiperhaps not from a government or geological standpoint, but linguistically, culturally, and historically (they moved from Scandinavia) they very much are Scandinavian.
Fascinating country and people, amazing how they produce so many strong men ( and women ) from such a small population.
They don't have an influx of illegals.
wait; hook-up culture is big and also almost everyone is related..........
You just made a very valid yet disturbing case....
Usually afterwards in awkward ways. But it's not as common as you'd think. Nowadays we totally check beforehand. And we usually consider anything further related than 4-5 generations to be fine. After all we're literally all related. 7 generations is quite common (that goes back to the 1700s).
Very true. My husband and I are 6th generation related. That's distant enough, no birth defects if we have kids and no chance of us being at the same family reunion as kids!
If you marry someone from the same country as you, you guys are probably 5th cousins.
I haven't seen that at all, never heard of it either.
Such a beautiful country, with beautiful girls as well
The cousin app is mostly because you don't inherit the family name, as explained later in the video. So no other way to know whether you are related.
I’ve seen most of the vids in this series, but this was by far the funniest! I literally spat out toothpaste at the “stomach sisters” part!
John Paul Sylvester As a guy in a different country I only knew the male equivalent, which is (here) called "hole cousins", and seen as awkward.
I think it was funny in the video but I won't find it funny in reality haha
@@johnfrancisdoe1563 that's very... "Ewwww! Sloppy seconds!"
I've been to Iceland and have nothing but good things to say about the country and the people. The people were especially friendly to me and crime is pretty much non existent. I was even able to fool one of them in the mall, she thought I was from Iceland and not a tourist until I finally spoke and told her in English that I didn't understand a word she was saying to me. She smiled and was a little embarrassed but we still kept talking but in English now.
I am from America and was touring with a group and had some free time on my hands and thought I would walk to the mall.
My sister traveled to Iceland with her hubbie and loved it. Me, I'm not big on colder countries. It seems a bit too small, kinda like Japan, which I was stationed at for 2 years-John in Texas

@DarthVader The racism is very selective here. If you are from a western country and have western values you're fine. If you are against western values and spit on them, you find racism. The refugees who come here with their middle fingers up are the reason for that poll result. We don't want to end up like some other European countries.
@DarthVader If you are from USA then you should be fine. Although I saw a situation in my home town where a guy was shouting "go back where you came from, we don't want you here", and then the black guy responded "USA you mean?" I was positively surprised that the shouter actually apologized for thinking him as refugee solely because of skin color. Ironically the racism here is mostly not based on race. It's discrimination based on country of origin.
The comments here are mostly against Middle Easterns if you've noticed, so is the racism. Police in Germany just arrested a guy with Middle Eastern name that raped under aged girls here. He escaped from Finland to Germany but it didn't help. Result is that refugees in a city of Oulu (place of committed crimes) are now afraid to go out. News like this increase racism here.
Statistically both Iraqis and Afgans commit sex crimes about 41 times more than native Finns here according to recent police statistics and are dominating the statistics clearly. That is the main cause of racism. That's 2,7% of the men arriving from those countries so not everyone from there is a rapist but the sudden increase is a problem that has alarmed the police and politicians, and rightfully so.
Isn't this Hrafna?(I always forget the right way to say it ugh)

If you go to visit, it would be fine, but honestly if you go to live there, it probably would not be the best just being honest. With your ethnic background, the climate would be unnecessarily harsh. That is why you do not see very many brown people in Eastern Europe, and you didn't see them for a long time in Scandinavia, Germany, and Austria. That taking the last name was a thing in all of Scandinavia as well as the Netherlands. As far as the Netherlands goes, Napoleon came in, demanded last names for administrative purposes, and everyone laughed and many gave ridiculous names because they all were confident Napoleon would be kicked out, just like everyone else has been kicked out over the centuries. Poepjes (Farts), Piel (Penis), Maandag (Monday), Naaktgeboren (Born Naked), and those are just the decent ones.
Napoleon gets the boot, and they figured last names would be gone. Except the new state thought of last names as rather handy dandy and decided to keep em. Everyone up in arms because they gave shit names and wanted to change it. Nope. So to this dayyou have people with last names that sometimes are literal profanity, most of these are luckily rather archaic now (Ploert for example, meaning whore or pimp).
Now I know the first comment, and no, changing a name is not possible as a rule. You need exceptional cause for a judge to approve this. They are a lot more lenient with first names than last names, and "roepnaam" is changed really easily (I knew a girl first name Anna-Lidia, and her parents gave her a roepnaam at age 12 or so, and schools, airlines, subscriptions, all use Angelina and she registers anywhere as Angelina, her roepnaam, but her passport still says Anna-Lidia, it's a thing). Anyway, even when a namechange is approved, the change as a rule needs to be so minor that the old one is easily deduced, so across from us for years there lived a woman named Piël, and I had a clasmate named Poëpjes. Not even kidding, it made me curious and look up why this was the case because it was obviously Piel and Poepjes before.
Many just registered as Janszoon (son of Jan, Jan being the most common first name) and Pieterszoon. But even with the refusal to change all the names and to this day being unwilling to change names, they did shorten all the -szoon and did not even do it consistently. So there is Janssen, Jansen, Pietersen, Pieterssen, Keessen, Kessen, Keesen. Interestingly, Kezen could be altered to Kesen, because Kezen is slang for fucking.
Not sure how Sweden, Denmark and Norway lost their "your mum/dad gives you your last name" thing, but there you have it for NL.
Intresting and educational.
Thank you
